I liked it how they all had roles: Mickey was the old-timer with stories, Larry was the enthusiastic analyst who had a really good eye for the game and often fumbled on words, and Ken was the one who kept his feet on the ground and the whole thing together.

Why does the visor seem to be such a symbol of freedom for many here? Hockey is a game that already is full of rules of what to do and what equipment to use. Now all of a sudden they stop being grown men if the use of a visor isn't their decision anymore. With all the neanderthal macho stuff that's involved in hockey shouldn't the debate be about cups being mandatory?

Hm... I don't know if stating an obviousity like that is necessary when something horrible like this happens. You can say that you can get paralyzed every day leading a normal life. The thing is that the game of hockey evolves all the time and different ways are tried to make it more safe. I don't know if anything could've prevented that injury though.

I remember Sami Salo saying in an interview that he wore a neck protector for a while but quit because he got tired of his teammates making fun of him. One would think that after what happened to Zednik the attitudes would've changed. Maybe this has something to do with the body language of when you're facing someone with your nose up giving the impression that you're not afraid to the extent that you even keep your most vulnerable part visible and uncovered. This is just me thinking out loud because in reality I have no idea why hockey players talk about safety and wear some protection but at the same time aren't interested in wearing some very sginificant pieces of equipment. The idea of (male) players wearing full face masks would make most hockey fans laugh.

That would've been a normal hockey play years go, but the game's changing as it always has. In the 70's fans probably called players who wore helmets *******.

He's a very promising young player but still needs to work on his puck possession.

Good for them. You have to remember that Wings had the home winning streak record last season at it didn't help them in the playoffs. I think it's more the case of that if Canucks don't win the Cup Luongo is blamed. It's as if there isn't 15 other teams in the playoffs that try to win just as much. It's easy to crumble under the pressure of the crazy Canadian media and fans but the fact is that Canucks have been the most succesful Canadian team of the last 10 years. It's not Luongo's fault that he's not Patrick Roy.

I never saw Hudler being lazy. He was small and slow but still provided 20 goals and 50 points. To me that's very good secondary scoring. He knew he was going to get more money elsewhere and money's something many people in the world like so who can blame him. Hudler's efforts in 2nd and 3rd lines were very important during the fine seasons of 07-08 and 08-09. I wish people would give him more respect for that. But always the hooker and Russia things. It's like all the other hockey playesr were eunuchs who've promised poverty. I also think it's too early to tell what'll become of Tatar and Nyquist. I wish Nyquist would get stronger. Then we'd probably see him up too perhaps permanently.

I think he's now for Wings what Brad Stuart used to be and he's being paid less.
