Does anybody realize there is a scenario that Hudler could resign anywhere for $3 Million/year and the Wings don't get this 1 & 3 that everybody is counting on. 1) Hudler is a RFA Arbitration Eligible. 2) He declares he wants to go to Arbitration and the Wings don't give him a contract that he and his agent like. 3) Go to Arbitration and the Arbitrator awards him something the Wings won't match and they walk away. 4) Hudler can now declare himself a UFA. 5) Signs anywhere for any salary. (Wings get 0 Picks)

Yeah I just talked to my rep as well, and personally this sucks what NBC is doing. I am going to go to my favorite watering hole and watch it there. So if we all do that we can protest NBC as well as putting a little bit of money back into the southeast Michigan economy.

You are correct. I thought Maltby was a little bit older.
-
Problem is that if Maltby and Draper retire, their salaries still count against the cap because the signed after they were 35.

The best "insults" you've heard against the Wings
13Wings40 replied to Doc Holiday's topic in General
It is not a Wings insult, but me and my wife thought it was pretty funny. This was yelled at me at the Winter Classic this year: My wife and I (all decked out in Wings Jerseys etc...) were walking through the concourse at Wrigley Field and a couple of guys were walking toward us and yelled: "Lions Suck..." We Said: "You are right...: They said "We don't got anything else..." -
Edit: Ooops quoted wrong Reply: You Really think that is true (Look at his stats for this playoff run) that Ward would have made it 5 games. They look pretty similar. When Stuart comes back, they will then put Homer on the LTIR (retroactive) to combat the Salary Cap problem with Leino and Helm.

Here is just another reason why the Ilitches are one of the most respected owners by the players, and why players want to come to this organization... http://blog.mlive.com/snapshots/2009/02/il...alums_incl.html

Leino can go anywhere and sign outside of the NHL after this year, but he is a RFA in the NHL. The wings would have the option to taking the compensatory picks or signing him if he signed by an NHL team.
-
Nope he can't come back and play for another team unless the Wings don't offer him a qualifying offer in the offseason. He is a RFA in the NHL next year (Look at the Salary Chart).
-
For the 6-8 minutes a game that Leino/Helm would play, Maltby would help the organization this year for the future. Leino/Helm will be better served playing 20 minutes a game down in the Grand Rapids, not the 6-8 minutes a game on the 4th line.
