Not quite, but there were a whole lot and we were really loud! It was impressive. That crowd tonight had more Wings fans then Ducks..
I don't think the staples center will get as many folks out tomorrow given the cost and weeknight.

I actually dislike the Rags more than the Penguins these days, but the thought of rooting for the Pens causes me quite a moral conundrum.

Injury forced me into beer league retirement about ten years ago, but I would still buy a Montreal 88 HMP if I could find it, just in case I ever laced em up again.

how do most of you feel about our "subtle" interference? I notice that the wings seem to do it A LOT. however I don't scrutinize and watch the other team as closely all the time.
The Wings are entitled to that spot on the ice as much as the opponent. It's called positioning and it's an important part of the game. The whining is just jockeying by coaches to get calls, but it is mischaracterizing the play and strategy which is entirely valid.
from the rule book:
A player is allowed the ice he is standing on (body position) and is not required to move in order to let an opponent proceed. A player may “block” the path of an opponent provided he is in front of his opponent and moving in the same direction. Moving laterally and without establishing body position, then making contact with the non-puck carrier is not permitted and will be penalized as interference. A player is always entitled to use his body position to lengthen an opponent’s path to the puck, provided his stick is not utilized (to make himself “bigger” and therefore considerably lengthening the distance his opponent must travel to get where he is going); his free hand is not used and he does not take advantage of his body position to deliver an otherwise illegal check.
As a side note - Lids was the king of using his stick to make himself "bigger" as is now forbidden in the rule. He would just hold his stick parallell to the ice in front of him.

You gotta realize when there is 1 game in Dallas a year, basically every Wings fan in Texas has that one shot to see the Wings without a ton of travel. I live in Texas and still drive 700 miles round trip for the game. I'm not a transplant, born and raised Texan, but I do have roots in Michigan.
I'd imagine something similar happens in Cali, although there are a few games to choose from.
We've had some good rivalries and playoff series with the Kings, Ducks, and Sharks in the past so Cali fans also know it is going to be a good game every time now. I gotta say, though, I moved to the east coast for the nine previous years, and coming back to LA I've noticed that Kings fans are insufferable. Even worse than in the Gretzky era.

Yes, he will be the PO starter, but I believe Mrazek will be in WHEN Jimmy s***s the bed.
That being said, Jimmy has a ton to prove this playoff. $5M+ to lose ALL the big games is asinine. If/When Jimmy s***s himself again, he should be traded in the off season. NTC or not, he can be convinced to waive it. Re-sign Monster and he will back up Mrazek. Jimmy is the main reason they lost in Anaheim, and he was the reason they nearly lost in Dallas. s***ty goals given up when his team depends on him.
I don't know if I would go as far as all that, but there is some truth in there. Jimmy seems like one of those goalies who has exploitable weaknesses. They don't always show themselves, but when he does s*** the bed, it is usually with bunches of similar goals. Like high rebound control or blocker side in the shootout. It's like he has occasional lapses in his fundamentals but he isn't able to immediately plug the hole.

I was at the game last night. The ice was so sloppy, the puck just was just bouncing everywhere and would not settle for the guys. I would not be surprised if the ice crew did that on purpose to slow it down. The Kings big defense also make our guys too timid to go to the front of the net, and they seemed hesitant to shoot with no traffic too. Still an entertaining game though.

On the bright side, his shootout save percentage went up.

ouch. i think a Shooter Tutor could muster up 3 saves.

Curious...has Babs ever expressed interest in becoming a GM someday?

Franzen's got a pair (of goals only of course).

I miss the villains/foils/heels (you may call them trolls) that kept things interesting and entertaining. It seems much more serious and a bit neutered lately. The curse filter added to that sentiment too, but of course the state of the team hasn't helped either.

To whom much is given much is expected. Nothing in the world is worth having or worth doing unless it means effort, pain, difficulty. Why not us? Hanta yo! It's a great day for hockey! I like our team. something like that...yadda yadda yadda etc etc etc
Go Wings!

I don't know if I would be as quick to hop on the wingers about the zone exits. Even momentary hesitation by the Red D allows the opponents to close the gap on the wingers no matter where they are. They need to get more confident on the puck, get their head up and make a decisive first pass. Happy hands are the enemy of the breakout!
