  1. I'd agree with Raffi. Sure he declined, but you literally can't buy puck sense like that any more.

Flip was definitely underappreciated too. Sure he needed better finish, but he had great skills through the neutral zone, great O zone entries, fantastic work ethic, and was our best player on the ice a good few nights when Z or D were injured. Our 2-4 lines don't have what he did now, so we chip in now.

  2. I remember when Quincey was supposed to be the next Mat Schneider. The last step in development is always the toughest, especially for a d-man. There isn't a guarantee of anyone getting over the hump from experience alone, but hopefully with his skillset and good fundamental coaching he will get there but it appears it will have to be drilled into his head.

  3. Screw the injuries,Devils were outplayed. We were hitting them, keeping possession of the puck, getting off decent shots. First goal was terrible defense but we need clutch saves. Zajac had gotten his own rebound, skated away from the goal and still had enough time to float a backhander into an empty net. Howard was out of his crease a lot most of the night and just plain flopping around and the dude just doesn't have it this year. 30 more seconds and we aren't 9th in the Eastern Conference.

I was at the game and I agree we outplayed the Devils. I thought the kids didn't look all that bad - good boardwork, puck possession and zone entries. I think only the Zidlicky goal was really on Jimmy. The first one was a collective failure and the Gionta one was just a good tip- nothing a goalie can do. We had three guys back on the Zajac goal and still he got behind them. The D was trying to trap at the blueline, but backed up to the tops of the circles and got caught flatfooted there multiple times.

[i also think my daughter and I made the FSD broadcast during the 2nd intermission!]

  4. The Wings had a kind of quiet control over the game last night in NJ. I think they'll carry that forward tonight. 3-2 Detroit. It's gonna be a bigger grind than many think. Let's say Alfie pops in a goal with 4 minutes to play and Detroit wins.

I was there too. I agree - I thought they played textbook Babcock small ball last night winning battles along the boards and grinding it out. I dont know how it looked on tv but in the rink it looked like a well executed game plan.
