Red Crazy reacted to WingedWheel91 in Should any of #91, #13, #40, #30 be retired? Poll/Discussion
#1 - He signed a 3 year contract with this team, tries to leave after the first year - and then puts out an article (right before the start of the playoffs) letting everyone know he's leaving after the second year to "gives back to the Russia people". I guess that wasn't much of an untimely distraction?
#2 - He predictably takes a step back from that stance, and says he didn't make any decision yet (although it was obvious he did) - but if he does leave, it's actually because he wants to see his daughter more... Because who could argue with that?
#3 - He ultimately (to no surprise) leaves, and costs us Jacob Chychrun.
#4 - He then signs with the best team in the KHL, which is a 30 hour drive from his daughter.
If any other long term Red Wing handled their departure worse than he did, please let me know. If not, then no - I don't think I'm overstating a little.

Lol at Z & Pav and not Feds/Osgood. Osgood owns most the Red Wings playoff records, plus 400 wins. feds the best player on the team throughout the 90's and 3 Cup era.
    91 and 30 absolutely. Especially if you're even considering 13 & 40.

Perhaps they were showcasing Ouellet for a deadline deal? Lets face it there are lots of reasons why the Wings brass do things that they don't tell all of us

FYI if Dustin Byfuglien was on our team right now ... Mr. Fatty would be third in points behind Larkin and Z. A bit embarassing that a fat guy is outscoring our small skilled forwards while playing defense! He also has more goals than everyone on our team except Larkin. It's hilarious.

Red Crazy reacted to AtomicPunk in At What Point Does Holland Deserve Blame?
Holland deserves blame for sticking with over the hill players (Weiss, Cleary, Samuelsson, Cole, Zidlicky etc.) WAY too long and not finding the players who are on the cusp of blossoming and acquiring them. Usually by the time a player becomes a UFA, they are over halfway done with their career and we pretty much know what they are going to be. Younger players aren't worried about self-preservation and "life after hockey" and they give you 100%. A player who is worried about his health long term and his investment portfolio might give you 95% but he is always subconsciously holding something back and being afraid of getting injured. Brendan Shanahan mentioned this in an interview I remembered and I thought it was an outstanding insight. And no, I don't have a link to it. It was in a thing called a newspaper.

My question is why the hell doesn`t he get pulled when it is clear that he is having a bad game. If Bab`s hooks him after goal three the Wings get 2 points this game. Coaching cost this game.

What the f*** was Kronwall doing on that goal. Pretty much the worst possible decision

Red Crazy reacted to krsmith17 in Franson to Preds
Trading to a divisional opponent should not be an issue in this particular situation. The Wings and Leafs don't play each other any more this season, the Leafs have no chance in making the playoffs, and Franson is a UFA at the end of the season. The Leafs should and would have taken the best deal on the table, regardless of who they were helping out. Why shouldn't the prospect matter in this situation? The Leafs can't draft for s***, they should be after high end prospects before late first round draft picks. Ouellet should be worth more to a team like the Leafs than a 24ish overall pick from Nashville. And give it a rest with this Babcock speculation, it's bulls***, plain and simple. Yes, since the Wings didn't land Franson, they will get bounced earlier in the playoffs, and now Babcock will choose to go to the Leafs, who are in full rebuild mode, rather than stay with a team that has a tradition of winning, and is a year or two max away from contention once again... Give me a f***ing break...

I hadn't realized Smith was playing particularly bad this season. He has mistakes here and there, but so does Quincey, Dekeyser, Oulette, Kindl, Lashoff, Ericsson, and Kronwall. Its funny how often Kronwall turns the puck over in the defensive zone, and yet its almost exclusively Smith that people latch onto and obsess over.

I absolutely agree 100%. This is the time when we find out what kind of team we have. The leaders of this team have to find another level and get Mrazek some goals and the D has to play much better in front of him.

I wish Bertuzzi the best. I don`t think he will get another shot in the league though. The Wings could stand to have a player like him on the roster these days. A player that is tough enough to stand up for a teammate and with the hands to score a few. Franzen could be this player if he wasn`t a *****

But maybe this is the time to move him for a player that contributes every game or a top 4 d man? The best way of getting value for a player is when they are playing well.

I thought I would share this with you fellow Wings fans.
My family lives in Manitoba and I have been a Wing fan since the mid 80`s so I guess my passion for the team has been passed on to first my wife and now our two boys age 6 and 8. Getting tickets in Winnipeg is usually next to impossible and the thought of getting 4 together is just a dream unless you wanted to pay 2-300 on stubhub. But by luck I was able to get 4 tickets from a season ticket holder that couldn`t attend so we were all set!!!
We are about 2.5 hours drive to Winnipeg so we booked a hotel next to the arena. It turned out that the Wings were staying at the same hotel! We met Bill Roose when we were checking in and he said to hang out in the lobby because the players will be coming down soon to get onto a bus for the arena. We got to meet most of the players and my boys were lucky enough to get 10-12 autographs each! We saw all the Detroit t.v guys etc. It was unbelievable!!! The players were so nice to their fans and taking pictures with the boys.
When we got over to the arena we asked to go down to ice level to watch warm ups. Many of the players tapped on the glass and smiled to the boys. Tatar even tossed a puck over the glass to them!
It was a great game to watch!
Anyways I wanted to share this story for those interested. The Red Wings are a class act all the way! From their security guys right to the players! Thank you Red Wings for making a dream come true for our family. We will remember the day forever.
