What a joke, gotta agree with the renegade Flames tweeter.

^ "Entertaining," "literary," and "calisthenics" all have four syllables. Clearly your English was stronger than your math in school. Also, why are you here? You clearly have absolutely no interest in discussing the game - all you're doing on this forum right now is trolling. If you really are 41 years old, I would hope there's something more productive you could be doing with your life. Good luck getting the 2 points on Thursday. If we meet you in the playoffs - i.e., in games that actually matter - and want to have a real discussion about hockey, come on back. Just don't come in, s*** on our porch and tell us we should be really worried about getting it cleaned up.

The best part is that Zidlicky plays for the Wild and was rumoured to have agreed on a trade to the Devils, both American teams. That story only got put so high on the headlines list because TSN shoves its trade deadline coverage down everybody's throat and the lack of trades in February has made them desperate to draw extra attention to their trade deadline show. I hate TSN.

You make it sound like the car is given away because the person who was picked last has been whining about it - which isn't the case at all. The car was given away starting last year to Phil Kessel, but not because he whined about it - it was a decision made by the league, almost certainly in conjunction with Honda as a promotional thing. And for the record, Kessel did donate the car to charity last year.

Rank the Hate between the Canadian NHL Teams
ComradeWasabi replied to Red Wings Addict's topic in General
Nowadays, probably Calgary-Edmonton. Before the lockout it was definitely Ottawa-Toronto, but since they haven't met in the playoffs the rivalry hasn't had quite the same edge to it. edit: I know Calgary and Edmonton haven't met in the playoffs either but they're both pretty nasty, physical teams, their games usually get chippy very fast. -
I would take him in a heartbeat but I don't think I would want to give up what it would take to get him - I doubt Dallas would be especially interested in Hudler and I doubt I would part with Filppula to make it happen. He would be a great addition though, that's for sure.

LMAO. I've never heard of that happening before!

Saturday, January 7th - Red Wings at Maple Leafs [1 night] Sunday, January 8th - Red Wings at Blackhawks [2 nights] Monday, January 9th - off [3 nights] Tuesday, January 10th - Red Wings at Islanders [4 nights] ???

Saw that in a Pittsburgh game earlier this year too I've never actually seen that rule enforced before this year! Weird..

The clue for me that told me he did it on purpose was the way he skated off after. He gave him the jab and then immediately cut in front of him... almost seems like he knew Neil would stop or at least slow down. Worthy of a suspension IMO, even if only a game or two.

I think it's hilarious that he talks about how much he enjoyed getting spend time with his dog but doesn't mention his girlfriend at all..

Get the hell out.

Actually a pretty smart move if you ask me, the executives are realistic enough about their popularity that they know better than to take on football on a New Years Day Sunday... competing with the college bowls is one thing, having to try on the last weekend of the NFL season, when there are 13 NFL games starting at 1:00 PM, would be a disaster. Better to move it back a day and have a much stronger viewership - especially since I believe most people will have that day off anyways, with New Years Day falling on a weekend. Hockey can't take on football, but if there's no football to watch, more people will watch hockey which in general means more sponsorships etc. and overall attention paid to the Winter Classic. Good idea IMO.

Love it.

**REDWINGS* overnight report: disagreement about Smith, disparate news
ComradeWasabi replied to BostonBruinsDan1924's topic in General
Welcome to the professionalism of George Malik. -
Pretty bold statement to make with 0 evidence or proof. Baseball's had tons of admissions of steroid use and yet I can't recall any premature deaths of baseball players recently.

There doesn't seem to be any credence to the suicide rumours: NESN says that News1130 in Vancouver reported it in their story, but there was no source or quote... simply a note at the end of the article with a suicide hotline number. Seems like speculation to me. In any case, RIP, hockey needs to stop losing players this way..

Sure, Hudler can put up 40+ points, but that's about it. No defensive responsibility, no checking of any kind, no speed, no net-front presence, no "grit". If someone whose only talent is to score is not scoring as much as he should, then he didn't perform very well. If he brought something else to the table - which he does not - a sub-par year numbers-wise may be forgiven. That's not the case with Happy. edit: I realize I completely ignored the point of your thread, but this is part of my ongoing effort to make you understand why nobody likes Hudler here. It's not blind hate.

Dry Island: The Flyers of Phildelphia.
ComradeWasabi replied to cusimano_brothers's topic in General
Carter and Richards both had breakout years in 2008-09. In the last two years, both of them have lost about 20 points each per season. Obviously they have the potential to be better than they were in the last couple of years - and I don't think it's unfair or a stretch to attribute some of that to a lack of focus. As you say, they are getting paid millions of dollars so they don't need to be babysat. And, as you said, the very moment they need babysitting, their price falls - which obviously doesn't work when they have signed long-term deals. This means their "price" was set in stone - no matter how much babysitting they require. I don't think either one of them had a drinking problem. I think both of them had attitude and focus problems, and at least some of that stems from their lifestyle of partying and drinking. I would never dream of taking away anybody's right to drink, party, and have a good time (especially as a 19 year old student), but when you're making $7+ million dollars a year to play hockey, you should not be letting your partying interfere with your hockey. It could have been a raging Halo addiction that was distracting them, it doesn't matter: it comes down to the fact that they were unwilling to put aside their distractions and dedicate themselves to earning their $7+ million dollar paycheques. -

They were (and are) getting paid millions and millions and millions of dollars to be the best hockey players they can be and help their team win. A coach would not say anything about drinking unless it was interfering with the job they are getting paid to do. I doubt your boss would tolerate you coming in hung over on a Tuesday and performing poorly, and I bet you get paid a lot less than Mike Richards or Jeff Carter. -

I doubt that Laviolette would have gone for this "dry island" idea if he hadn't tried to talk to Richards and Carter first. I'll bet he tried, and didn't get through, and then tried to send a message - only for Carter and Richards to ignore the entire idea. Sounds like good reason to ship them out of town to me. -
Doc Emrick, Strader, and Pierre McGuire, all making exclusive commitments to NBC for this upcoming season... anyone else get the feeling NBC brass demanded exclusivity from some of their broadcasters? I don't know if Eddie Olcyzk does Chicago broadcasts still, but I wouldn't be surprised if he's forced to make a decision before the season starts too.

Osgood should(n't) be included in the HoF...
ComradeWasabi replied to Majsheppard's topic in General
I get the feeling that some of the anti-Osgood sentiment around the NHL is just runoff from the anti-Red Wings sentiments out there. -
That Dallas third line sure will be a s***-disturbing one.
