Yep, the "team" was a bunch of arrogant kids who thought they would have a cakewalk through the prelim and then just coast into the final. Canadian Hockey needs to put respect back into the game. Other countries have caught up and winning a medal means playing your hearts out.

Wow, that had everything a ref goes through. Guess it's true... nobody likes to get called for penalties.
-
Thornton was a different situation though... and personally I believe his was similar to how the Bertuzzi-Moore incident went down and that's why they gave it such a harsh suspension. Here, I didn't know Engelland was a repeat offender... otherwise I would have said fair. Since he's had a 3 game suspension prior, he should now have an 8 game suspension, but that's not how it works over at the department of discipline.

I don't believe you're delusional, but if you look at Edmonton... there's not much success playing a team of young guys. I believe only the Elite players can come to the NHL right away, so I have no issue with 2-3 years in the AHL, although here it's more like 5-6 (typically).

source please? Is someone injured...?
-
Cause he played so bad tonight...

Howard needs to get a start on the road, against a poor team... Tuesday @ Florida would be a great time to start... He'll have a good goalie to duel against, a team rejuvenated with the return of Datsyuk, and a low-scoring team to get his confidence built back up. Then give Gus the start Thursday @ Tampa, and Saturday vs. Pittsburgh. Howie @ Tampa Sunday and then see what's happening.

Yet we still have a 5-1 record without Dats...
-
I thought I had imagined that when there was no big deal made on FSD. Glad I'm not crazy!
-
Ref made a bad call, but when you only get 11 shots on goal... It's not the refs' fault.
-
(Jim Bedard I presume?) Is he inconsistently coaching?
-
All this time we thought Franzen was the one who held the team back...
-
At least you can come to sympathetic and (sometimes) respectful wings fans! Hate the puck to the face injuries though... Hopefully it's not as bad as it seemed.
-
Just because a goalie is hot doesn't mean the other goalie shouldn't get the chance... I think the Isles are a better team to get your confidence back with than the Senators.
-
Interesting that I agree, but I categorize that as offence. Our offence is what's holding us back I think. We have good defencemen, but they're not successful when they try to create offence. Also might help the offence if we were going for 2nd chances... I feel like every game I've watched this year has been "shoot and faceoff" or "shoot and retreat." Getting on those rebounds and finding ways to be in position for that should help our offence.

Was thinking about it last night. Samuelsson is a former 2nd liner, played with the Sedins a few games and is capable of scoring. Yet most of this season he has been playing on the 4th line. I'm not sure he can live up to that role, yet we have a capable top 6, so where does Sammy fit in this team? And how can we put him in a position to succeed better on this team since we have him likely all year?
-
Great News! Also bad news... who gets sat now?
-
Yup, we're great armchair GMs, but the coaching side seems to be a little weak.
-
Read that first line and thought you were another nay-sayer... that second line cleared things up.
-
Could still be feeling sick after leaving last night's game?
-
Well, 2 for 2 is fairly effective...
-
I haven't watched many of the videos recently, is that more detailed than normal? It was a real good explanation for the hit.
-
You ought to use a definition that fits your argument.

GDT 10/4 GDT : Red Wings 3 at Hurricanes 2 (OT)

Pretty sure it went off Franzen's skate and/or stick, although he had no control (but I don't think that matters in assists) -
I like our defense too, it was the biggest reason we made the playoffs last year. Trading Howard and then betting on signing Miller for the sake of a D-man who may or may not help the team isn't worthwhile. That said, who are considered #1 D-men in the league these days? They're so few that I can think of, and if a team has one they aren't going to just give him up.
