Andersson breaks foot - down another center

Are other teams have this many glass players? It is beyond laughable how many injuries there are this year. I was hopeful after Friday's Devils game that the kids could take over for the vets, but that Rangers game was abysmal. I hope NY's defense just had the game of their careers and it wasn't just that the Wings' offense was that weak (even Tatar, who is usually Datsyukian, was shut down the whole night). I really hope Emmerton's stay is short lived, I'd rather see Glendening. -

When they announced the lineup I was like, "This is a turning point! Sammy unfortunately cleared waivers, but Babcock finally got the lineup right. Today is going to be a great day!" At the start of the first it was a lot variations of this, "f*** BABCOCK, f*** CLEARY, f*** EVERYONE. GOOD JOB CLEARY! WAY TO BE OUT OF POSITION! Why is Franzen playing center?! etc, etc, etc." It infuriates me to no end that Cleary is playing. I'd rather see them play shorthanded. It wasn't supposed to be like this...it's wasn't supposed to be like this

Great analogy. I think this is a very accurate assessment of how Holland has approached signing in the last few years. To take is a step further, he won't let go of his new toys, because the last one he gave away (Hossa) ended up being the coolest toy on the block, while he was stuck holding a toy that was constantly breaking (Franzen). Additionally, he has an extremely restrictive sense of nostalgia. He knows some of the toys are beyond repair (Cleary), but he can't bring himself to give it away because they remind him of better days; even though letting go would ultimately make him happy. Lastly, there are toys that he over payed for and refuses to acknowledge was a bad decision (Quincey). I think what makes the analogy so apt is that it brings to mind how childish Holland is being. He needs to make difficult decisions, but is acting like a scared, selfish child.

It is not looking likely. http://prohockeytalk.nbcsports.com/2014/01/10/no-hearing-scheduled-for-cleary-elbow-hannan-mclellan-wont-be-suspended-or-fined/

Definitely what the league is trying to prevent. No reason for Cleary to make that dangerous cheap shot. It was clearly done out of frustration and was not accidental. As far as the losing another person on the roster, are we losing anyone? Cleary is obviously the weakest forward (and second weakest player overall to Quincey). I can't wait for another Griffin to show up Cleary and the mistake that was his resigning. ...I'll go back to the Dan Cleary hate zone thread now.

I would think there would be a ton of great high resolution pictures, but surprisingly they are hard to find. These aren't up to my standard for wallpaper, but I love the colors in these photos. Here is a picture I took from my seat. Not bad for a cell phone.

SALE: Winter Classic tickets + FREE Great Lakes Invitational tickets
King Crane posted a topic in Classifieds
Selling physical tickets to the Winter Classic game at Michigan Stadium: 4 tickets, Section 16, Row 88 (Red Wings side, corner). Tickets will include FREE tickets to Saturday's Great Lakes Invitational games at Comerica Park. Good for both the 3:30 consolation game and 7:00 Championship game. Price is negotiable. Face-value is $129 per ticket. Looking for $80 each or best offer. I can mail priority or we can meet up. I live in Oakland County, but I'll be in Ann Arbor for New Year's Eve. -
The other factor I forgot to consider is that power kill goals against do not count towards +/-, so it is probably much worse than this. Another stat I would love to see, but would be hard to calculate, would be what is how many goals against occur when Quincey and Cleary are on the ice together? Quincey and Smith? In terms questioning whether it's coincidence or if he is the problem, just watch him during the games. Next to Cleary he is the laziest player on the ice. I do not just mean he is slow. Quincey is lazy in every aspect of the game, failing to make plays, and relies heavily on his line-mates. He does everything really half-assed.
-
I added it all up. He's been on the ice for 21 goals against this season. I think it's shockingly low, but I wouldn't be surprised if he screwed up a line change and allowed more goals than the stats indicate (a.k.a. "The Cleary Special")

What do you mean? He has been ba....OH I see what you did there

I do not disagree, but every point Cleary is able to scrap together is justification for his resigning. I fully realize thinking like this is simply spiteful, but his ass clogging the roster is inexcusable with how many talented, young guys are trapped in Grand Rapids. It is one thing to protect veterans like Chelios and Lidstrom, who work day in and day out, giving 100%, and making smart plays. It is a totally different situation with an average player who continued to show declining skill, careless play, and lazy skating. That's why you blame Cleary. It spiteful and disgusting, but he is the face of a broader management problem which does not recognize the "old" and "veteran" are completely different things.

First time I read this I laughed...but then I realized it wasn't a joke...

injured Zetterberg out at least 2 weeks with herniated disc
King Crane replied to 13dangledangle's topic in General
Ok ok...here are my thoughts so far: - This isn't so bad. It will give us a chance to see what the team looks like once the last of the 2002 Champion veterans are gone. - The next 4 games are against teams with losing records - ....but they play down to bad teams... - Maybe it will force Weiss to step it up - haha, and maybe Cleary and Quincey won't suck - At least we have Tatar, Helm, and NyQuist - DANGER ZONE - This is the one saving grace of this team right now - At least we have brick walls, Howie and The Monster - QUINCEY -
ESPN's power ranking comment for the Red Wings: "Hmmm, wonder if there's a game in Ottawa on Sunday that a certain Red Wing has circled on his calendar?" Fight Line: Bert - Abby - Tootoo Kronwall - Smith Fight starts when someone gets Kronwalled
