SCF GAME 6 GDT: Red Wings 1 at Penguins 2

Well, so we go for game 7. The last game of the season on the last day of the season. I am not going to post anything. The Wings look horrible right now and if they do not play game 7 like game 5, the night will be long

Did not want to show my emotion but: get back your s*it back together in game 7. What a trash performance

Well, I think it will go for game 7. The Wings again, show the sense of urgency too late in the game. Terrible game.

I saw some people here think Ericsson is good out there. Don't know I am wrong but from my view, he has been one of the worst defense out there tonight. Second goal is all on him and he does not skate well, cannot control the puck good.

I am really mad at the fact the Wings lay back continously when they can elminate the opponents. This game looks almost same as the game 6 against the Ducks. I just do not get it. Does the Pens' crowd make the Wings players that scary?

our PP failed this game. I really do not know what to say, Hossa, do something. This game must be the level of garbage as much as the game 3 against the Ducks

Well, I am happy with the goal but it had to happen before the Pens' second goal.

Perfect. Osgood is the only guy who is doing the play right now. Other players have to smell the blood and play super well in the third.

That is what I am really worrying right now. We won game 5 because we made endless forechecks throughout the game. In this game, how many times have we done the forecheck? Helm looks to do a bit but other guys look to lay back and do not play for their hearts right now. If the Wings come up flat like 1st and 2nd periods, there will be no excuse but blame themselves.

SCF GAME 6 GDT: Red Wings 1 at Penguins 2

I do not know how people will think of me but I think the Wings got dominated by two periods. We did not build any traffic in front of Fleury and while Penguins' offensive lines step up and destroy our 3rd defensive pair, our offensive players have done nothing so far. We saw some good shifts by Datsyuk and Zetterberg in the first period but I do not know where they are right now. To add, if Hossa really desires to win the cup, he has to come up big in the 3rd period. He has scored zero goal in this series. The only guy who is out there to play now is Osgood. Other guys have been absolutely invisible. The bottom line is we have to tie the score as soon as possible. By the Wings' performance through the 1st and 2nd period, I doubt the Wings will ever score tonight. Besides, if we allow the Pens to go up by 2-0 in the 3rd, we have to go back JLA

Hey, we have the Sharks fan here. I really want to see us to win the Cup tonight and best luck to your Sharks next season too
  14. I know our bottom lines will face Crosby and Malkin more than we did in game 5. I agree that Bylsma will try to shift Crosby and Malkin when Zetterberg and Datsyuk are not on the ice. But I think there is a plenty of chance that they will shift against our top lines. When the Wings face either Crosby or Malkin on different lines, we have to have one guy who can shut down those two players. If Zetterberg and Datsyuk go to the work to shut down one of Malkin and Crosby at the same time, I do not think our 2nd line can shut down another. From my thought, I highly doubt Bylsma will shift Crosby when Zetterberg is on the ice because he saw the miserable play Crosby has made in this series against Zetterberg. I just want to try this for the first period. As much as Bylsma can choose the line matching, there will be little possibility that he will shift Crosby against Zetterberg Datsyuk against Crosby Zetterberg against Malkin I like your idea but we know it is in Pittsburgh, not Detroit. Just my opinion.
  15. Hmm.. interesting read. But I do not agree with you about that only people who dislike crosby are people who know and follow the NHL. I highly dislike Crosby because of his attitude and behavior but he is one of the best player in the league right now. Besides, it would be meaningless if you ask a friend who has no knowledge of hockey. Let's suppose you do not know anything about soccer then who would be the best soccer player now? Maybe Ronaldo because he is in the ManU, which has been the terrific club since 2006. This is the same case. I know Crosby is not the best all around player. Crosby has a good skating skill, good shot, good sense of a game. When I see him, I just hate him but there is no doubt he is a good player.
  16. Isn't it better if we split up Z and D? Bylsma can choose his line matching so I think we have to limit the possibility our 4th line faces either Crosby or Malkin. Thought?
  17. I do not have much knowledge of draft or prospects but I gotta just say Tavares cannot replace Crosby. At this point, the NHL mainly focuses on Crosby to gain back the popularity it lost by the lock-out in 04-05 season. There are few things why I think Tavares cannot replace Crosby: (must not be exact but just my opinions) 1.When Crosby was in a junior team, Gretzky visited the place Crosby was living. Since, Gretzky mentioned that if there is anyone who can break his magnificient career record, that would be this kid: Sidney Crosby. However, Tavares does not have much contact with legends as much as Crosby did when he was young. 2.If I remeber correctly, when the time to choose the first rounder came to close, no one doubted Crosby's skill and talent. Not surprisingly, he was selected overall first. On the other hand, Tavares' skill is doubted by many draft scouting people. Many of scouting people state that Tavares' skill is good and his positioning to score a goal is better than Crosby but his skating can be a different factor while Crosby has a good skating skill. It can be biased by me and other specialists but as much as more Penguins fans are made in new town, it is not a bad idea for the NHL because it can regain the profit. However, I highly doubt Tavares has that much of star-power. Sure, no one knows what can happen in the future; for example, Patrick Stefan who was selected by the Stars overall first does not even play in the NHL. I saw some of Tavares' games but he is not a game changer like Ovechkin and Crosby. He seriously needs someone to support him. When the business wants to expand its own capacity, it looks forward to get a hero to advertise it. It looks to me that the NHL states Crosby lifts back the Penguins from the depression and brainwash people Crosby as a hero. Besides, it can be also an example of Stamkos but Crosby has a supporter whose name is Malkin while Stamkos does not have that talented supporter. Same with Tavares. Likely now, the Islanders or 2nd draft team will pick him up. Most likely 1st although Hedman is a terrific defense-man. I highly doubt he can do everything to make the Islanders good

For what reason to people hate Lidstrom?

I am shocked anyone hates Nick. He has never won the Lady Byng trophy but he is one of gentle players I have seen in my life. If the guy who wrote this gawky post wants to justify Nick is a dirty or classless player, his team's captain has to be clean. Nick's throughout career: Believe his average PIM is less than 2:00. Never gets kicked out from the game by taking game misconduct. He is 38 years old(right?). Crosby's throughout career: Got kicked out from the game against the Panthers by making classless fight and slashed Zetterberg tonight by frustration. On TSN, I just saw his interview and one reporter asked Reporter: Sid, what do you think about your slash on Zetterberg? Sid: This is the playoff, it is intense. Anything can happen. Now, who is more classless? Ask yourself

    OZZY

Ozzie got more point than the sum of points produced by Penguins players tonight.

    Wow Pens Fans

I have nothing against Malkin as much as I hate Crosby but I never liked Malkin either. The only difference between the hatred against Malkin and the hatred against Crosby must be the name of two different players. When people hear the name of Crosby, everyone mocks him as a cry baby. It looks people who are fans of neither Wings fans nor Penguins fans just force Crosby to be a bad guy and Malkin as a good guy. The bottom line is, Malkin and Crosby were frustrated but Malkin lost his composure more than Crosby.

SCF GAME 5 GDT: Penguins 0 at Red Wings 5

The first post on GDT and I loved our game tonight. Datsyuk's come back impact was bigger than what we expected. The only thing I was not happy was Hossa did not bury a goal tonight. Except for the fact, I was fully impressed by the Wings' playing level. Our forecheck was great, our backcheck was impressive, and our passing worked out really well. Let's go Wings

    Datsyuk will play, Cleary "Questionable"

It is okay, thank you for giving me the interest guys. I just got into hockey because my father watches, he is the Maple Leafs fan. And his job is a diplomat so I had plenty of opportunities to visit North America. I was very young when I visited Detroit so I do not remember that much but my cousin stayed in Royal Oak. He came from NY because his business was expanded. He lives in NY right now though. Now, I am in North America so I do not have much knowledge of Korean hockey but most of Koreans do not play hockey. There are rarely Koreans in Korea who play hockey but the media stations do not broadcast because they know the NHL rate in Korea must hurt them and will not gain the profit. I do not know this is a good explanation or description of my hockey history but again, thank you for giving me an interest.

    Datsyuk will play, Cleary "Questionable"

Thank you Casey, I am just from Korea. The first person I talk to By the way, thank you for telling me that Abdelkader has the flu. I think it will be a negative impact if Leino plays on the 4th line but if he has to, we have to see what happens but what I just said was the thought I had from his playing in the playoff. What I want to ask you is the spot for Holmstrom. I believe this playoff season is the worst ever playoff season for Holmstrom. He does not look to skate well, his stick handling is very uncomfortable, and his main job, screening and deflection, do not work at this point. I really loved ZDH line but I do not think Holmstrom will work well even though ZDH line is reunited. Moreover, I just do not understand why Hudler played on the top line in Pittsburgh. He has been extremely quite in this final and he is not the guy who can play on the top line with the toughness. It must be the reason that Hudler is a good playmaker behind Datsyuk but his size is not a factor to be the first line mate. I do not know what I said but, just my thoughts. Hopefully, everyone can understand my poor English.

If Datsyuk is back, what are the lines you want?

Well, as I posted in another topic, I do not have much knowledge on line changing but what I think is: (Isn't Cleary out?) Zetterberg-Franzen-Datsyuk Hossa-Filppula-Hudler(or Helm) Samuelsson-Holmstrom-Helm(or Hudler) Maltby-Draper-Abdelkader I think Leino has been very bad out there. He does not look to be able to contain the pressure of first Stanley cup while Abdelkader can play with much of grit and forecheck. Just my opinion, but I think Helm deserves to be on the 2nd line unlike other people's thoughts. I know his stick handling is not enough good but he is fast and playing up to his new level. If I know correctly, Babcock can choose the line matching, not Dan Bylsma. If then, our 3rd and 4th lines do not necessarily have to meet Crosby or Malkin even though they will face both players sometime in tonight's game.

    Datsyuk will play, Cleary "Questionable"

This is my first post as the LGW member; I have been just looking around the board but did not make an account because my English is suspicious. Finish my intro, I think the story Datsyuk comes back to the line up can boost the Wings. According to previous four games, Zetterberg had to shut down both Malkin and Crosby. In my view, I think Zetterberg shut down Crosby really well but as much as Zetterberg does not have an infinite energy, he looked very tired since the first period of game 4. Just I think right now, I do not think Datsyuk will play as great as he did in the regular season. But, what I have been mentioning in my mind during the playoff is that even though Datsyuk does not score or produce points, he is still playing well defensively and he just does not have a luck to gather the offensive points. However, Datsyuk has been out from the game more than two weeks. I have been playing hockey for only 3 years and I believe many LGW members play hockey far better than me and play hockey for a longer time. On the other hand, what I got from playing hockey or other sports is that you cannot play up to the potential level you have after you come back from troubles or injuries. The good thing about Datsyuk is coming back is, Zetterberg's ice time will go down because I have a belief that Datsyuk will shut down either Malkin or Crosby although his offensive skills will not shine in his come back game. If I remeber correctly, our line combo in game 4 was: Zetterberg-Franzen-Hudler Hossa-Filppula-Holmstrom(or Cleary) Helm-Samuelsson-Cleary(or Holmstrom) Maltby-Draper-Leino I think this one is correct one, if not, please fix it for me, guys Get back into the topic, if the Wings really deserve to win this game, they have to play their own games regardless of their injury issues even though it hurts. From what I have been realizing in this series is that each team played enough good to split the home series to tie the series 2-2. I know the Wings did play good but the Wings hopefully woke up after a humiliated lost in game 4. Now, the die has been tossed up. Now, it is the best of three series. In my opinion, I think the home advantage can be more effective than we expect because the home team has its crowd back and they have an advantage to choose the line matching. I do not have much knowledge of line matching as you guys but what I can point out for the line combo is: Zetterberg-Franzen-Datsyuk Hossa-Filppula-Helm Hudler-Holmstrom-Samuelsson Maltby-Draper-Abdelkader I do not know this is the best line matching but as much as Franzen has been quite by his overall shift, we probably have to choose the line mates who can boost his scoring ability. Besides, I think Holmstrom has been a liability throughout the playoff, especially in the final, so I would put him on the 3rd liner unless Babcock chooses him to roll ZDH line back. The concern I have is how Hossa will do in the rest of the series. In my opinion, it will be ugly if we rotate the exact line combos. What I look for is that Babcock contiously change the line combo for each shift. It is just my opinion, and let's enjoy the game. Go Wings!
