    Chicago Screws Up, merged

http://tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=283730#videoyourcallarticle Now I'm freaking out. First, why would Tallon send offers to Barker and Versteeg for less than $1 million for Pete's sake! Second, why couldn't he mail them out sooner? Please NHL don't do anything.

That's fine. Joel has never gotten past the Western Conference Finals, but I think that if Mike Keenan could do it, Q could do it as well. Not to mention, he should've won the Jack Adams award this year. Stupid east coast bias. He could at least have gotten a nomination.

    Yzerman GM in Chicago soon?

If there is any cancer type move the Hawks made, it's Brian Campbell. Huet IS moveable since after this year he'll only have 2 years left, BUT that should not be the case since I do not want to put a potential Stanley Cup Champion in the hands of Corey Crawford and Antti Niemi. Crawford got some action 2 years ago and found a way with Khabibulin and Lalime, and I don't recall him at all being in there last year. Niemi needs to be developed more if you ask me. He has potential, I saw that potential by only giving up 2 goals against the Kings on March 1st when I was at the game, and we won 4-2. I don't see how Hossa is a cancer. From what I saw, Snazzy sure looked like he was calling Hossa a cancer. To me a cancer is someone who drags down his teammates. I think Hossa will make his teammates better this year, not worse. There are no personal issues with the Hawks really, but if there is any cancer, it's Campbell cause of his contract.

Colorado could've asked for more IMO.

Did you even read the article? Even people on here say nothing too serious should come about our RFA's turning into UFA's. Maybe something minor, but I can imagine Tallon will keep at least one of them.

In your opinion yes. In mine: He'd look God Awful.

You can keep Stevie. Having him work for us would kick some sweet ass, and plus as a huge auto collector, only makes it easier for me to get him, but what if Tallon really does have a plan to keep the core together? I want to see that.

Dale would be nuts to trade Sharpie. His contract is through 2012. One of our best players when healthy, and I don't see being moved. The only way he'll be donning the Wined Wheel is after his contract is up. Tallon would be the dumbest GM ever trading one of his best players to the archenemy- especially when the rivalry is coming back. The mistake was jumping on Huet when Khabby had a year left. Now if Huet goes we have the unproven tandem of Crawford and Niemi. Campbell was overpriced, but Huet hurts more.

Actually if I'm Ken Holland, I would want Barker because of the aging Lidstrom issue, and how young Barker is. If we could keep all 4? Brilliant. If we could keep 1? Make it Barker. But only Barker and Versteeg would truly affect us imo.

It might be a stretch but...

"You are the Weakest Link...Goodbye!" Those were the days.... Anyway, I was pretty shocked when we signed Huet. Khabibulin aside, Huet did a good job being in net leading the Caps to the southeast and was a good acquisition by George Mcphee. It's not his fault the refs messed up game 7. There is a difference though with the Buffalo analogy. They lost guys, we're getting guys. Cap trouble? Sure. But until Kane, Toews, or Keith depart, I have very little concerns.

I think what Lombardi needs now is to look for a goalie. That's not to say Quick wouldn't be capable, but I think that if they get a pretty good goalie, they might return to late 90's/early 2000's form.

I want a Crosby vs Ovechkin rematch. NEVER was I more entertained by one playoff series than that one. Ovechkin is my guy, so I hope he gets his payback.

LeftWinger- I post on both here and the Hawks boards. I doubt that you do the same, since there were many grill Walker threads. Walker and Campbell just didn't work as a pairing, and if you look at the poll on who I believe was most overpaid, I went with Walker, because if I was a GM, I'd offer him 1 year, 1 mil topps. Dunno what Lawton was thinking. Campbell is easily one of the most overpaid players in the league. But let's see how he does this year if Q is smart enough to pair him with Hjalmarsson. Huet is a concern, but I also feel that he has something in him. I think that when you look at the past years that Huet made the playoffs (06, 08- where he had a nice run to lead the Caps to the Southeast, and 09) I think that this is the most talented team Huet has ever been around. So we'll see how that goes.

Worst NHL Team Names, Logos, or Colors?

Logos Best (I'll leave the Hawks out of all of these) #1 Anaheim Ducks #2 Carlolina Hurricanes #3 San Jose Sharks Worst #1 Buffalo Sabres (I like the one they use with alternates with the Buffalo and swords) #2 Tampa Bay Lightning #3 New York Islanders Jerseys Best #1 Washington Capitals #2 Boston Bruins #3 Detroit Red Wings Worst #1 Buffalo Sabres #2 LA Kings #3 Phoenix Coyotes Names Best #1 Carolina Hurricanes #2 Colorado Avalanche #3 Calgary Flames Worst #1 (Go ahead and flame, but this is NOT biased)- Detroit Red Wings #2 Pittsburgh Penguins- Penguins don't seem intimidating #3 Toronto Maple Leafs

I've been a Hawks fan since I first got into hockey- 2002. Apparently Chelios wanted to win. That's why he came to Detroit. What I'm saying is that I think Kane wants to win, but I think he'll only go to Detroit for money purposes. That is what I am saying. As far as calling me about Hossa, I think we will do something this year. His goal scoring really gives us something. We will do something with in the playoffs because we are much more experienced. You look at last year when we had 13 players who never had playoff experience. Going from no experience to Conference Finals is a nice step, don't you? Plus we added more experience if anything this offseason. Huet may be a concern, but as for now we will see how it pans out. I said back in December the only team who would be in our way for the Campbell bowl would be Detroit. Sure enough I was right. We should be at least a third round team. All I know is 10-11 months from now, we will see who is right and who is wrong.

It might be a stretch but...

Uhhh, no not really. I'm not jealous of Chelios at all. We don't boo Kane. We treat him like an icon here. Him and Toews are larger than life here. Fans boo their hometown team. It happens cause they're frustrated. As for not winning since 1961, I like those chances to change. You never know, but I am more optimistic than pessimistic. Phoenix, Florida = Lmao. St. Louis would be the only team out of those three I would actually view as a possible emerging threat.

I'd rather have Hossa than Havlat. Sorry. Though stats are comparable in terms of points per game and all that other stuff, Hossa is hailed by the papers as an upgrade over Havlat. Tallon would be crazy to shop Sharpie. His contract expires in 2012, and we got the guy for peanuts. He was a steal. Kane? No way. There would be fire Tallon protests everywhere. As for Pahlsson, he is being replaced by John Madden. The only plus I would give to Pahlsson is that he is younger. The Stanley Cup is certainly the ultimate goal for me. You never know. Huet was iffy, but he did show promise when Khabby was out in November-December and filled in well.

Maybe not all 4. But, here is who I'd say from #1-4 in terms of priorities. #1 Cam Barker- can't just rely on Keith and Seabrook. Besides, maybe Hjalmarsson is just promise, but won't be as good as we thought. #2 Kris Versteeg- good scorer, but we have that. He certainly made his rookie mistakes in the WCF. #3 Ben Eager- never hurts to have a goon. #4 Troy Brouwer- nice rookie campaign, good 4th line player, but he's not better than the other 3.

I am well aware of what Chelios said. But Kane is not Chelios. Sure, maybe he will play for you guys one day, but I can imagine that he will be rolling in the dough in signing with you guys.

It might be a stretch but...

If the Hawks keep just one of the three, Tallon would be insane to let Tazer walk. As for Kaner, you'd have to offer him a pretty penny to get him to sign. I read that he learned how to hate Detroit and rooted against them when he was there playing junior hockey.

That's all we need. Havlat and Gaborik no doubt can play hockey, but can they stay healthy consistently? Though I am a little reluctant about Kopecky, I like the Hossa and Madden signings.

    OFFICIAL: 12y, $62.4m makes Hossa a 'Hawk

THEODORE? Is this a joke? He's not the MVP goalie he was back in the day. Sure, he has won playoff series unlike Huet. But if you think Theodore isn't washed up, he was stomped on by the Rangers! The team that couldn't muster up goals. Varlamov may have got whooped in game 7 of the semi's, but he makes brilliant saves, is very young, and Boudreau and Mcphee would be nuts to go with Theodore and show Simeon the door.

Is Chicago buying their chance now?

I think Huet is more moveable than some think. After this year, he is half way done with his contract. Campbell I don't think the same thing could be said.

Is Chicago buying their chance now?

betterreadthandead- 29 goals with a history of being injured, or 40 goals with a history of being healthy? He has missed time before, but not much for Hossa. Mac- What else can we do with Soupy? Keith and Seabs have such great chemistry, a vital part to our past and future success' and spend so much time on the ice.
