NHL Chooses Las Vegas for 17-18 Expansion
TheDetroitRedWings replied to LeftWinger's topic in General
I actually think it will do pretty well in Vegas. When compared to most of the other tickets in town, an NHL game will be a cheaper option to kill a night. Especially if they end up having a decent team. It's definitely an economic hub, unlike Phoenix, Arizona. My only true concern is the West having an odd number of teams. That's why I'm hoping there's still a chance for expansion in either Seattle, or Quebec, or another deserving market. I won't be truly pleased till both conferences have an equal number of teams. -
Alexander Radulov: Wings on short-list of desired teams
TheDetroitRedWings replied to TheDetroitRedWings's topic in General
That's exactly my point. We were willing to bring guys in with character issues to help fill our needs as a team. Our biggest need right now by far is more goal scoring. So it should be a no brainer to give a player who consistently produces a chance to see if he can help the team. Especially when we've given "questionable character" players a chance in the past. Forgot to correct him on that. We absolutely brought him in as a FA. lol -
Alexander Radulov: Wings on short-list of desired teams

As a Predator (who last I checked is a team in the NHL) he scored 18 goals in only 62 games. Then the very next season scored 26 in 81 games. The guy can score in the NHL. Cause he can put the puck in the net, unlike many of our current Red Wings. We were one of the lowest scoring teams in the entire league. We desperately need goal scoring. My thoughts exactly. And none of those guys score goals as often as Radulov (aside from Bertuzzi back in his Canuck days). -

Not according to Elliot Freeman. Back when Radulov first expressed interest in returning to the NHL, there was speculation that the Avs were the front runners. But as the weeks have passed, the Wings are the current favorites to land him. But as of now, nothing is 100% set in stone. Really hope we do get him though. As long as we don't drastically overpay for him. -

Apparently, he's not too interested in playing in the NHL playoffs... -

When healthy, he's a consistent, every year 20+ goal scorer. -

He's only 29 years old. And his goal scoring production hasn't slipped down at all. If anything, Holland will for sure not sign him, because he's not old and washed up. -

I know there's a lot of Quincey hate here (I'm not always fond of the guy either). But for some reason I'm glad he's replacing Marchenko tonight. Despite all his downside, the guy can be pretty physical at times (unlike charmin soft Marchenko), and I like that he sometimes rushes the blueline when necessary. -
Didn't mention any of this in my post. But you literally took the words out of my mouth. Exactly spot on to how I feel.

I absolutely hate him. He's a pretty good player against anyone else, but against us he's a full blown elite superstar, on a consistent basis, in the playoffs and regular season. Not to mention he's a whining cry baby. I have no issues at all with Ben Bishop though. He's really good against most teams. Tyler Johnson is the Jim Thome of the NHL (any Tigers fans will get that reference).

They might get a goal here, but I feel sooooo much more comfortable with Mrazek in there, rather than Jimmy. -

If they do score there's no doubt it will be him. Amazing how he's a superstar against us and ONLY us... -

Hate to be a downer, but with how god awful NHL refs are sometimes, don't be surprised if this gets called back, even after they watch the clear and obvious replay. -

Another thing I love about Mrazek, is there's actual hope of him shutting them out. Whereas with Howard in net it's set in stone that a 3rd period goal/goals will be scored against him without fail. -

Absolutely. I'm guessing it will only take about 20-30 seconds for them to get a goal on their PP. They actually shoot the puck, even if it's not a great angle. Apparently you have to actually shoot the puck in order to score a goal. Smh... -

And so far Mrazek is looking good. But he sure has given up quite a few juicy rebounds. If he keeps doing that, there's no doubt they'll capitalize on it eventually. -

We looked pretty good in the 1st. But I just can't get over how this team always tries making the extra pass instead of just shooting the puck. Did it all season. And apparently are going to continue to do it in the playoffs. When you have a 5 on 3 for almost a minute in their zone, and you get 2 shots on goal, there is a serious problem. We gotta just start shooting the puck and hoping for the best. Any hesitation and extra passing is just gonna make it easier on a goalie as good as Bishop. -

Blash or Ken Holland? I have a feeling Kenny is more behind this than Blash is. -
Andersson leaving the NHL after the Playoffs
TheDetroitRedWings replied to NerveDamage's topic in General
Hate to sound cold and negative towards him. But bye bye, don't let the door hit ya on the ass on your way out! IMO he's lucky to even play at the AHL level, let alone in the NHL. This should be music to any Wings fans ears. This just frees up a spot for someone more deserving, like Mantha or Pulk, or hell even Jurco (even tho it seems Jurco isn't really getting much better with experience).
