Exactly. The Penguins are my 2nd most hated team behind Chicago. So I'd love to hate on this deal. But Kessel's goal scoring ability far exceeds anyone Sid has been playing with lately. Penguins are the winners of this deal in my eyes.

There was a time where I would have wanted Semin in the winged wheel. But honestly, it seems his best days are behind him. And with the character issues he seems to have, the only way id be okay with him playing here is if it's for dirt cheap.

Not gonna get my hopes up too high for Mike Green. But that really would be a great signing for what this team needs.

Totally agree. Babcock is obviously a good coach. But sometimes the message can become stale after this many seasons not getting past the 2nd round. Blashill has certainly proved that he at least deserves a shot with the big boys. Plus, a lot of our young guys are very familiar with him, and have had success with him. Hopefully Kenny does the right thing and promotes from within, rather than hire outside help.

The only thing that concerns me is goaltending. I've been one of the biggest Jimmy Howard supporters out there. Even as recent as a few weeks ago. But as of now I have very little faith in him. And with Mrazek still being relatively inexperienced, I have a bad feeling that we might not make a deep run. Despite some of the defensive miscues by our defense and offense, if our goaltending can be reliable and solid, there's no doubt in my mind this team could make a pretty impressive run at Lord Stanley.

Not that Jimmy has been great in shootout situations. But the thread title should really be, "Red sucks in a shootout Wings." Cause it's most certainly not all on Jimmy.

I'll be shocked if he makes the team now (this season that is). It's one thing to play in the preaseason and slowly get used to the NHL level, and try to earn a spot. But I highly doubt (especially the way Kenny is) that Mantha will go from injured and not skating for weeks, straight into the NHL regular season. On any team odds would be Mantha doesn't make the team this year. On the Red Wings, it's a 100% certainty. Although It wouldn't surprise me at all if the injuries start to pile up, in which case I guess anything is possible. But if I were betting on this my money would be on Mantha making the team next season. Hope I'm wrong tho cause I'll take an unproven Mantha over Dan Cleary any day.

We should definitely be doing this as soon as possible. Not that this should be the 'end all be all' when making line up/line decisions. But it is legitimate information that should at least be taken into account along with everything else.

Wow, I really can't even wrap my head around this... Even when Cleary wasn't injured he was a healthy scratch. Hate to say it but this move really makes Ken Holland look clueless. And I've been one of Kenny's biggest defenders. What could he possibly be thinking? Waste of money, and more importantly waste of a roster spot. Unreal.
