Both moves are 100% legal. The continuous motion applies more to whether the skater stops and starts, or if the puck loses momentum somehow, whether it be because of a gaffe due to the ice surface (i.e. if the puck stopped because of too much water from the resurface, and then the player has to restart its momentum), or if the player's shootout attempt contains a move that stops the puck dead and restarts it. Also, the player cannot skate the puck to the left or right of the goal and make a move that causes their overall motion back to the right or left towards the net which causes the puck's overall motion to be further behind any point of their overall attempt. This is different than the puck motion in a deke, where a deke can involve forward/backward motion, not just left/right, shown in both videos.

Ugh, that's gross. Seems pretty likely that it would fail on most occasions though. I'd be interested to see someone get an opportunity to try it, though. Even better if it's Dats.

3 unanswered, but yeah, I get you. Unfortunately, I called this loss even before puck drop. I told my buddy during the pre-game that the Red Wings are pretty decent at getting a good streak going, then dropping a game they should almost always win. In this case, we have two blowout wins over the Coyotes and the Jets, and a dominant game over the Penguins, and then we lose off of bad bounces and a couple of poor mistakes by Howard. I can fully understand the hook he gave though that generated a power play goal by the Predators though. You don't impede the guy a bit, you let him get a better position and the opportunity to pass, maybe even a wraparound, and it's tied right then and there. Unfortunately, Weber's PP goal didn't take too long to happen. I wouldn't say he played bad though. He had some great saves all night, and then he let in a couple of flukey goals. The first one they had was directly after a phenomenal save. The third goal he almost had in his glove. The fourth one, he couldn't really do much about except create more of an angle for the shot which could have been saved. As the replay showed though, it was a tricky bounce. Also, this would have been a totally different game had Datsyuk not missed the net on that one attempt. I felt so bad for him because right after that, you could totally see he was using everything he had in the tank to make up for it. That's the type of play I wish him and Zetterberg would show the whole game. Oh yeah, and Ericsson was absolutely horrendous tonight. How many unforced turnovers did he have?

Everyone's allowed to have a 2nd favorite team. Unless it's the Blackhawks.

I think it's less trying to take the hitting out of the league, and more taking the "no respect for your fellow players" hits out of the league. This is not one of those, unfortunately, and in this case, I think the league got it wrong. They're human, after all, so they're going to make mistakes, but this is just an example of a clean hit being misjudged.

I'll also say, after seeing Eddie Olczyk make a little jab at how we had 8 guys on the ice during that (very valid) line change, I believe we're owed a few after the whole Pittsburgh 6 men on the ice thing that happened during "you know when".

I don't know who first noticed it then posted it in a thread, but ever since I found out they announce "That last goal brought to you by DTE Energy, where scoring means saving" thing is really just ******* unfortunate. It's not that loud on TV if you don't anticipate it, but my god I hate it so much. Oh, also, nice goal Ericsson.

That said, I like all of these ideas, except I'd trade out the beer part for something that might actually help them get faster and less lazy, haha. Also, I can get them the Chloroform. I like both of these ideas. Even though we looked like we were playing pretty dominant with the puck in the first period. It's almost like we said "oh, let's give up now, I guess" after Pavelski scored at the end of the 1st. And for the 2nd idea...I don't understand why we don't try to go after these guys or players like them right now (and if someone can tell me why we wouldn't be able to obtain them now, I'm all ears...not too familiar with contracts and whatnot). We clearly need a little stronger offense and defense considering the majority of our players seem to be struggling out there.

Lol, I watched it on the FSOhio feed (since I assumed that it would be blacked out in my area) and the announcers were complaining that it never would have been even a 4 on 4 at the end had Bertuzzi not gone after him. Wut.
