Every hockey player plays through injuries. I'm wiling to give guys a pass, if they are less than effective but not a detriment to the team's success, as far as most people are concerned if you aren't injured enough to sit out, you should be able to be effective, which Ericsson was not. Lidstrom at 41 and less than 100% is still an elite player and would be worth far more than $3.75mil, Ericsson at less than 100% was horrific at worst and unremarkable at best.

He played 69 games last year, and when he was in he was arguably our worst defenseman until we picked up Quincey.

Before the big contract, I didn't get all the bashing Ericsson took on these boards, last year with the big contract the expectations went way up, and he didn't deliver to that level by any stretch of the imagination. This season, however, he has been a lot more noticeable in a good way, playing the body instead of the puck, not getting caught up ice in poorly timed pinches, and in my opinion he has been our most consistent D-man. He finally looks like a #3 blue-liner should, let's hope he keeps it up.

Amen brother, Tatar can actually skate with Datsyuk & Filppula, Cleary will just slow them down. As much as I think he deserves it, I don't think Ferraro should get the call up this time around, we need to replace size with size, I'd go with Sheahan if we actually call someone up, but I'd hate to see Eaves be healthy-scratched again in favor of a call-up, unless he's had a recurrence of his post-concussion issues. EDIT: started typing before I saw the update about Andersson, good move

Family Guy is one of the most annoying shows in the history of TV IMO, but I can appreciate the humor behind this choice of artwork, and it is really well done, hope he hangs on to it when he gets called up for good.

Excited to see Tatar getting a shot, especially with Datsyuk & Filppula, but I'd rather see Cleary scratched and Eaves in, at least Eaves' shot has the potential to end up somewhere other than the goalie's glove.

According to NHL.com we scored two last season (Filppula and B. Stuart) and 5 in 10-11 (Helm x2, Datsyuk, Miller, Eaves), but honestly the last one I actually remember was the one Filppula scored on his birthday against Luongo in 2010.
