Wings played "let's just try and kill the clock" the last few minutes, and I feel like that's what killed them. They were doing great with the puck possession up until that point and I didn't really see any need to change the strategy really. -
He must not play video games I suppose

Usually when a goalie is traded there is a goalie going the other way. I could be wrong, but based on numbers alone I feel that's the case, no?
-
Or maybe just preferential treatment is being given to a young star, but some hing like that is completely unheard of so I understand your skepticism.

Wow that was worse than I was expecting. I hope this kid turns out to be the next Alexandre Daigle

Pronger (contract) and Grossman to for Sam Gagner and conditional pick

To be honest I don't really have a problem with the Clarkson trade, as much as I do this Pronger deal. Clarkson may actually turn out to be a useful player for Columbus. If they truly couldn't afford to pay for in and another actually turn out to be a useful player for Columbus. If they truly couldn't afford to pay for in and another quality player than this really is the best move that could've happened for them and for their fans too. However, the reason the Floor was put in place was partially from cheating their fans. The coyotes trading for Pronger who is never going to play again just to reach the floor does just that. -
Anyone know if this is going to be on NBC or NBCSN?

http://m.espn.go.com/nhl/story?storyId=3420092&src=desktop Well the man was shot and almost killed in Detroit. How this isn't seen as a conflict of interest is beyond me. -
Sergei Bobrovsky signs 4 year extension with Blue jackets

I've gone to almost every Jackets home game this year, this is a good deal for CBJ. I honestly don't see them ever being up against the cap so while the number is wee bit high, Bob is worth every penny. He is their MVP, he steals games, keeps them in games and is fairly consistent in he regular season. If he could just have raised his game in the playoffs they would have beat the Penguins last year, an than who knows how far they would have gone. -
The TSN thread made me want to pick the brain of the board here. What are some good podcasts to recommend? As far as hockey goes right now all I have is the "NHL insider Bob McKenzie", and old Coach's Corners. I drive all day at work so it'd be nice to have something new to work. Columbus sports radio is actually decent, but mostly all OSU talk. I tried Detroit's sports station and it usually just makes me angry when they have talked about hockey

Kane & Toews Sign Identical 8-year, $10.5M AAV Extensions

I wonder how Keith feels right now. As a UFA his salary could hit the stratosphere, but now he's stuck making literally half of his fellow leaders on the team for similar term, and is their second highest paid Dman. Cheers to Keith for being a team player. As for next year Chicago has 15 players signed (10F 3D 2G) and just a little over 3mil in cap room. -
I think its the lake

No "overripe"?

Got that text from a friend earlier in the week. Really a shame he had to go, jealous of Dallas fans for sure right now.
-
I have felt like our D could use some veteran presence back there. I would definitely be ok with taking a chance on either of those guys.
-
per tsn... http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=455502 Hartnell carries about the same cap hit for slightly longer term( $4.75m for 5 more years, compared to Umberger 4.6 with 3 more years). His game has dropped off a little, but he was still productive last season. Looks like Columbus may have found someone to be captain. Pretty good return for Columbus for someone they were ready to buy out.
-
Yea I feel certain they could win a cup before D or Z leaves, it really isn't that far out of reach.

It's going to be a situation where we're going to wish he would have signed Quincey and Cleary. At that point we'll all be living in our own version of hockey hell. Than at the end of the season they will tear down the Joe, and than just decide to not build a new arena. The team will just contract and the league will go with 29 teams. /optimism

I'm almost certain this will be our roster game 1, and I hate it: Zetterberg-Datsyuk-Alfredsson Franzen-Sheahan-Nyquist Tatar-Andersson-Jurco Miller-Glendening-Abdelkader Callahan-Ferarro Kronwall-Ericsson Dekeyser-Kindl Smith-Lashoff Oullett Howard Mrazek Helm and Weiss will be hurt. Prob all season. Prob forever. It's making me mad just looking at this.

Our D looks so much better with Boyle on paper its crazy: Kronner-Big E Big D-Boyle Oullett-Smith Just an excuse for me to say Big D really...

Chara is like 6'9" Sean Avery -
Well put by the OP. Was there even a fine or anything on the first one? If not than yea, no chance of a suspension. Which is actually blowing my mind right now. The NHL is really setting themselves up for quite the law suit if Lucic were to one day actually injure a player to the point where he can't have children. I don't want anyone to get hurt like that, but I kind of almost hope it does. The NHL is allowing it to happen for some unknown reason, and they would lose a lot of money from a law suit like that.

Id rather have Brian Campbell

If we ever get back Ericsson back I wouldn't mind seeing line combos such as: Kronwall-Lashoff/Kindl Smith-Ericsson Dekeyser-Quincey Lashoff looked serviceable last year at the beginning of the season playing with Kron, and Kindl had flashes during the playoffs. Maybe pairing one of these guys with some one steady like Kron will do the trick.
