Right. Detroit has Datsyuk. Richards, Zetterberg, Sheahan, Helm, Ferraro, Andersson, and Glendening down the middle already. That's 8 guys who can play C. He's not going to get time because of C's being injured. It's going to be because he's just too good to ignore. Which I don't see happening. He's awesome, but to overcome the amount of depth we currently have he has to be the next coming. And I think he's great, but I don't expect that from him, it's hard to expect that from any player.

I'm usually a tie to the vet, let a kid who needs it get more ice time in GR kinda guy, but this isn't a tie anymore. We're gonna be better with a kid playing. Cleary clearly shouldn't be playing.

Yeah I don't believe the whole blame Babs angle either. Towards the end of his tenure here he was given a piss poor blue line, so to compensate he made us one of the best defensive teams as a whole. Guy really is a great coach. I think we're worse off without him frankly.

U and Ansar got me. Smith was definitely an offensive minded D-man in college and GR. I won't argue that point. However his offensive mind clearly never translated to the NHL, like many players. And he doesn't have any type of defensive acumen to fall back on. Making him a very unimpressive NHL d-man.

So the conclusion is you passionately defend Smiths poor play because he's improved in the defensive zone? Hate to break it to you but Smith is pretty below average defensively. If he really has improved his defense it's only slightly and not enough to make him at all valuable in the D zone. You cite his D skills as his improved area, yet yesterday you were arguing he be given PP time. Fascinating.

What exactly are the improvements you see in his game? His first two seasons were basically spitting images of one another. Bone headed mistakes coupled with a lack of offensive production.

I agree with you about Dekeyser. However he really is much better than Smith.And stop trying to make this about Ericsson, I have no complaints about him.

The only time he's looked good was with Lidstrom and those first dozen games. Both full seasons have been pretty much identical. But apparently you see tons of improvement? Sure. I think you're alone on that one. And no E is still not a great defender, and he's probably better suited as a #4

Obviously we're going to butt heads on this BOS. Just know I'm 100% for conviction if he's guilty. If he's able and allowed to pay off this victim the whole situation will suck. He will escape prosecution because he's rich.

the only difference would be the amount of media attention. I believe the hawks have handled this correctly so far. Until the man has been convicted of a crime he should be able to perform his job, however spotlight worthy it is.
