Wow. I can't believe Ericsson has never learned this fact. How the heck does he have a spot on this team when he lacks this basic knowledge of physics? Buy him out already.

Coaching is all just trickery and mind games. Actual knowledge about sports is reserved for advanced stat nerds and patrons of internet forums.

I for one can't stop laughing. It's always hilarious when we trade a friggin all-star for a washed up vet.

I think this might be finally it for the Mule, Sadly

First it was "He'll never play again" Then it was "Maybe if we're lucky we'll get him back in November or December" Instead, he managed to play opening night, and looked solid to boot. Even with his symptoms coming back after two games, he's still way farther ahead in his recovery than 90% of this forum predicted. Do we remember when Crosby was having issues? These symptoms can linger for a while. And I'm not all too surprised they did considering the way Franzen was pushing himself to be ready for the home opener. Maybe he should have played it safe and waited till November. He's not out cause he got hurt again, he's out as a precaution so that he doesn't get hurt again. His career is very much alive still. -

He just played two full hockey games at the professional level and looked very good in both so I'm not too concerned about his functionality for the time being, he'll be ok. I'm glad he's being sat as precaution right now though. Also, if anyone followed his instagram this summer he seemed to do a lot of playing with his kids. -

Did you pay attention when Franzen said retirement was something he wasn't considering? So because his symptoms are back and he's being placed on IR as a precaution, he's absolutely donzo? Please, he will sit until his symptoms are gone again, and then he will play. I remember when Crosby was going through this same thing. People are acting like he got rocked with concussion #1000 or something lol that's not the case -
No, with Cleary's leadership Ovie never would've never done this in the first place and Babs wouldn't have to yell at all.

Why is this it for him? He didn't sustain another concussion. I assume he'll be lacing them up as soon as his concussion symptoms are gone again. That could be sooner, rather than later. He's on regular IR. -

But then how will we beat the Pens in the conference finals this year??? -
Yes, but his body is big. I'm talkin bigger than bufflin big.

*puts on the tinfoil* What if the alarm clock was an inside job? Picture this, Trotz wants to send a message to his young players about everyone being held accountable. So he pulls his captain into his office and together they hatch a clever ruse. Ovie shows up late "on accident" because of his "darn alarm clock". Now Trotz can bench the best player in the world and by example say to the rest of the team "See what happens when you stay out late/don't show up on time!". No one gets hurt, the team has learned a valuable lesson, and no one is the wiser *removes the tinfoil*

I really think we're THE dark horse this year. No one gave us much respect, but I think we're going to seriously peak this year. Z and Dats are still young enough to contribute a lot. The kids are becoming prime as I type this. Plus Larkin is popping off, and Green was the PERFECT edition to the blue line. Couple that with a DEEP netminding and forward core. My one negative opinion so far: Pulkkinen is not nearly as good most people seem to think.

Meh, I've actually done this before and have had other things go awry with alarms. I understand there's no excuse, especially for a captain, but these things do happen. He might get fired for this in the non-sports world if he was at a replaceable position, like something blue-collar, entry-level, or minimum wage. But when you're important enough/high enough in your company that is certainly not the case. And Ovie has a lot of importance within his organization. Replace "Best Player On Team" with "Top Broker In Firm". Neither is going to fired for being late. They are the face of their business.

The thing about Jurco is he's struggled to fit in offensively. Hasn't shown us those hands or his offensive side yet. However I think he's a lot better without the puck than people realize. Much like Abdelkader he may grow slowly into his offensive role with this team. People like to think of him as this slick euro Datsyukesque sniper cause of his hands, but I think he's more of a heavy forward. Built solid and likes to dish the body.

During the autoshow last year. So that's February I think? EDIT: Barley pops may have corrupted my memory banks. I was also at Lidstrom retirement ceremony/game, which I think was after that in the spring.

IDK I guess maybe ur right. The fans aren't distracted by other sports, they just don't care about the Wings anymore. Sad. Definitely not hockey town.
-
UofM/MSU football is doing pretty well. With matchup looming.
-
If that was Dan O'Halloran watching the play, and it was in front of the net, and McDavid played for the Wings, and McDavid was Holmstrom, it would've gotten called. Just sayin.
-
Simply put, yes. Despite 20+ years of consistent success and Michigan pumping out hockey players, it turns out it was all just one long bandwagon ride for Detroiters. Those fans are now off cheering on the successes that are the Lions, Tigers, and Pistons. This is definitely NOT hockeytown.

You're either smart or you're not, which is why I skipped all my schooling and went straight to LGW.

Like I said: Loser. Made his team right out of camp. That never happens to guys other than Larkin, what a loser. His young self will get run out of the league when he only scores 60 pts. What a loser.
-
You don't seem to realize that having an abundance of bottom 6 talent is good. It means you can pick out the best forward talent possible. The one's left out are useless. You can't trade them. So what? Screw em. Sometimes you lose worthless assets for nothing. It's not a big deal.
-
It's Holland's fault we have arguably the deepest team in the league! I won't stand for this high-level of success!
-
So you think Andersson will be claimed because Brian Bickell has a high salary? lol There's a news flash coming your way.

I've been saying this for 3 years, I've been wrong every time.
