10/05 GDT | at Red Wings 4, Minnesota Wild 2 (1st Game @ LCA)
TheXym replied to NerveDamage's topic in General
Great 2nd. Stay strong and bring it home in the 4rd. About time they gave Jimmy some multi-goal run support. Has he looked his average self between the pipes tonight in the first half of the game? I got home at 10:30 if the 2nd. -
Just don't start calling him Ras El Goal.

Biggest difference between a one-way and a two-way contract, if I recall correctly, is that on a one-way, the player makes his full NHL salary even if sent down, while for a two-way contract the player makes a lower salary if he is in the AHL.

Interesting point about babs leaving. Kind of weird how that seems to be working out.
-
Surprised you didn't mention Jinder Mahal. With his constant help from the Singh brothers it is almost a team sport.
-
Sorry to hear the guy was hurt. I hope he is able to recover and resume playing, but I concur with your thoughts that it could be career killing. It didn't work out for him with the Wings but I had no ill will towards him. Did you resurrect the thread instead of starting a new one partlly to scare people who didn't check the original post date into thinking Hakan was hanging up his scouting binoculars?

Mantha is looking good. Nielsen with his 2nd. Beautiful air mail pass to set up that play.
-
Both. He had an infuriating talent for being on the point on the power play, firing a shot that would have made original trilogy Imperial Stormtroopers seem like Chris Kyle by comparison, then watching the opposing team skate by him unhindered to score a shorthanded goal. He did it frequently on even strength as well, though it wasn't always a goal it was definitely a quality chance. Regarding Bertuzzi, I think he could be an "x-factor" 4th liner - grinder, agitator, but with a surprising pair of hands that makes him a legit threat to score if he takes the puck.

I thought it was hustle, loyalty, respect? Living in PA and teaching, a road trip to see training camp live isn't in the cards for me, so I am dependent on what folks here can relay plus reading what Malik cuts and pastes with a healthy dose of salt (though I do think, for all his shortcomings, that he does a pretty good job with the training camp and prospect tournament stuff). To those who are able to give info first hand, I thank you once again.

I'd personally put it as there are 8-10 truly elite at any position, and the rest of the #1 whatever are still damn good but never going to get the accolades as he top 8-10. Having Lidstrom as your number one D-man for years is going to inevitably skew one's expectation of number one d-man since the guy is easily top 5 all-time (I would put him 1A and 1B with Bobby Orr personally). For perspective, garbage in my book is Jason F'n Williams.

Interesting term "light-blue chipper". Actually it seems to be a great characterization, nicely done if you are the one who coined it. Chowdog? Lol, giving me Emdog flashbacks. Hopefully it doesn't mean Chowdog is going to be the d-man equivalent of Cory Emmerton. That's getting to be ancient history, only the board vets are going to get that reference. Hopefully JUCK F**KING POTT never fades.

What Is Your #Hype Level Re: the Red Wings' 2017-18 Season?
TheXym replied to Dabura's topic in General
No Shockmaster or Gobbledegooker? If you're going with the wrestling level motif, I'm going to kick it old school and say Norman Smiley. -
I remember Dabura's posts back then. The Rafalsky early retirement surprised everyone if I recall correctly.

RIP. From all accounts I've heard, he was a good man. Thoughts and prayers to his family.
-
Bummer, I got it as a download. Bet you can get it pretty cheaply now

As I said in the chat window, I loathe the guy as an announcer, but I sincerely hope he kicks cancer's ass and beats it. Best wishes for a swift and complete recovery, Edzo. Thoughts and prayers for his family too so they can stay strong and positive for him. That makes a huge difference (my best friend's daughter beat cancer at 16 a couple of years ago, the family and friend support is huge)

Seems like a couple of us have 7 days. It may be cool to play coop sometime.

Your efforts with the LCA pics and now this awesomeness are sincerely appreciated!

Tenders. They are usually cut from chicken breast and just seem more satisfying to me. Nuggets.... who knows where on the chicken they come from. My wife works for a health food store and shared this link about nuggets. http://www.foodmatters.com/article/whats-really-in-chicken-mcnuggets-scary Sausage: link or patty?

Maybe you were just a year early and his two goal explosion in game 82 was the foreshadowing?

I guess we will agree to disagree. -
Yep, for $4 it was worth it. My oldest spent $24.99 for it a while ago on his PS4 so I knew what to expect. Your analysis hits it on the head.
-
Wish that wasn't PS4 exclusive. I'm curious to see how the native Detroiters feel about the storyline after playing the whole game. After seeing how well The Division recreated Manhattan, I'm curious to see how well this game captures The Motor City (and if LCA makes an appearance).

Jimi Hendrix, John Petrucci, and Alex Lifeson might disagree with you.
