You don't think San Jose had just a little to do with how the second half of the game was dictated? How about giving credit where credit was due? Clowe's goal was absolutely huge for that club and that, obviously, turned the tide of the game. It's a long series -- I didn't expect a sweep of Games 3 & 4 and the Wings will likely look at this game as one they should've had when they wake up tomorrow. Obviously, it sets up a must-win Game 4 and it'll be nice to get a 30-goal scorer back in the lineup.

Oh, and one more thing before heading off to bed: The power play actually looked good tonight. Granted, they couldn't even it up when they had the chance, but by-golly -- they were SKATING out there! Lidstrom was pinching down low! Players were rotating along around the net! Cats and dogs living together! Anarchy!
-
Basically it comes down to this for me: Act, don't react. The Wings acted in the first half of the game and then reacted the second half. Give credit to the Sharks, though, they worked their tails off right at the start of the third period. The Wings' players need to stop acting like the puck is a hot potato whenever they see a Sharks player bearing down on them in the defensive zone. The number of turnovers is *alarming*. (If memory serves, an errant pass by Lidstrom -- again -- up the middle of the zone eventually led to Clowe's GTG.... It never should have happened.)

Slew-footing is a penalty. The only one I had a real problem with was the phantom interference call on Lang where it was the Sharks player acting like a cueball on him after initiating the contact.

It's not even just that -- how many players have you seen just blow a tire out there? I counted three or four in that period alone (at least three Sharks players!)...

Who wants to take that picture of Joe and paste his head on Spicoli? Babcock would be proud...

I was saying the exact same thing during that final 1:24 with the group that was watching the game -- those final two shifts were OUTSTANDING. That the Sharks didn't even get a sniff of the offensive zone and had to pull Nabokov with the puck still in their own end was utterly fantastic!
-
Let me re-phrase that: Samuelsson wanted to get the puck on net so Datsyuk could either deflect it or have a chance at the rebound.
-
Hit wasn't a cheapshot. Franzen fully intended to belt Cheechoo but he also fully expected him to touch the puck, which was just a foot or two behind him when he laid the shoulder on him. Penalty? Absolutely. Cheapshot? Hardly.
-
I'm not saying they weren't -- but you can't deny that this comeback wasn't spurred by the balls-out hockey that Cleary was playing from the moment he stepped on the ice this afternoon and you can't discount how incredible Filppula was in protecting the puck and on the penalty kill, either.
-
He shot it on purpose -- I'm certain he saw Datsyuk in behind the play and was looking for a deflection or a rebound... and a rebound it was. I'm usually pretty quick to harp on Samuelsson but I thought he actually played pretty well -- he had a few great hard passes looking for teammates that just didn't convert, but they were great plays. Sure would like to know what's up with Lidstrom, though. At least three *horrible* give aways and Markov had to bail him out on two of them.
-
Can we just give Cleary the 1st and 2nd star and the 3rd to Flip? Only seems fair.

I'd have to say I've been pretty hooked to Breaking Benjamin's "Phobia", specifically Breathe. Other current favorites from Shinedown and Disturbed.

Thanks, and yes.

There's no "dedicated" Red Wings station, as both hop all over the place (this weekend is heavy on other teams as well, notably the NFL Draft on Saturday and how the Lions will screw it up, and Game 3 of the Pistons' series tonight). http://www.wdfn.com http://www.1270sports.com Both offer online streaming.

They'll need a presence on that top line that goes to the net HARD -- and Samuelsson isn't that guy. Calder it is. (Keep that hand away from slashes, Kyle!)

Wings in 7?

Crap, I forgot: Wings in 7. Wings in 7.

Scott Spiezio doesn't know hockey? Well, DUH.
