Normally yes. But I can see how bringing in the elder Svech bro after the hype over drafting his younger brother might be a good marketing gimmick for them. They could try to sell it like the Second in Vancouver. I definitely think that Carolina would give the biggest return and they happen to have something we need.

The Hurricanes don’t need to look at Vancouver for inspiration when they did the same thing with the Staal brothers.

He got a full no trade with the contract so he's probably not getting flipped at the deadline.

If he’s healthy I don’t see him not being traded. The NTC is just to give him some leverage on where he goes. I don’t think he’d reject everything presented to him.

  3. He’s the number one defensemen on a poor defensive team. If Kronwall, Daley, and Ericsson don’t provide enough veteran experience for younger players to learn from then adding Green won’t help much. This roster is clogged with bad contracts and few spaces to add youth and talent.

It didn’t work for three years, time to move on.

I suppose I should've specified, they'll have less value at the draft and throughout summer. TDL is when a player is most valuable. Look at the prices being paid so far.

Ok. I agree with that, but it isn’t do or die for anyone other than Green.

I’d rather wait and maximize value if no one blows them away with an offer.  I’m also leery of salary retention for future seasons with as poorly as management has handled the cap the last few years

Peanuts is what you'll get later trying to trade them after today. This is the time when playoff teams are looking(and paying) for the extra piece that will allow them to win now. Nobody will be interested in any of those players come draft and later. Kenny pretty much said yesterday in his conference that he isn't making any deals today. He's open for business for the next two years. Meaning he probably isnt going to make any moves this deadline and nothing even until next deadline or the one after that. Green maybe. When he said he wants to maintain the culture of vets with a kid or two slowly coming in, he just means everything is going to be status quo as it's been for 5 years now. Not trading vets, not giving a kid a spot until he's proven he's earned it....blah blah blah. Get ready for a mediocre return for Green today and that's 100% it. Meanwhile you'll see players with lessor ability moving around for great returns! Once again Kenny will leave us with excuses. I wouldn't even be surprised if Green in still with us after 3.

Why would Tatar and Nyquist have less value at next years deadline than today?  All of the trades made so far have been for players with expiring deals.

For such a bad team his stats weren't bad. His assist total went down but his goals and shooting percentage went up. His faceoff percentage went up considerably too.

  7. Is anyone a subscriber to this site?  Hadn't  heard of it until today when Craig Custance joined the staff. Paying for internet articles seems asinine in today's world but if it's quality insight who knows.

  8. His games played and goals increased while his penalty minutes went down. Sure, his assists total took a major hit, but that can't be placed entirely on him. If he put someone in a position to score and they didn't isn't in his control. If he continues to progress and has a couple seasons with 15-20 goals and 25-35 assists it will be a great deal.

  9. No, I don't think they're playing well. But firing a coach 10 games into his NHL career seems rash. Back to the point I was making, he hasn't had one of the best players on the team and several key players have already missed time due to injury.

It wouldn't be fair to fire a guy before he's given a chance to prove himself with the full roster.

  10. The Hockey News had that goal on their front page tonight. An amazing goal.

Funny thing with THN is they don't even have him in the Wings top ten prospects. Not a very good list, at least with their order, if you ask me.
