    Official Franzen VS Hossa

All it will take is Franzen not scoring for a couple of games, whether he is getting good chances or not fair/unfair, and people will probably be changing their tunes pretty quickly.

Red Wings don't belong in the same rink as the Hawks?

If they want to think that, let them do so. Just one of countless pieces of a columnist from the city of a team that is favored to win a playoff/game series writing about how the underdog has an extremely difficult shot of winning. Not worth getting ruffled over or fired up about.

    Delay of game penalty

Either the current or ice it is fine with me. 9 times out of 10 you can pretty much safely conclude that in a pinch nobody purposefully wants to put it in a crowd, but this is something where there can be absolutely no grey area for a discussion - even if it is all but obvious that the player didn't mean to do so. It's either a penalty all the time or treat it like icing all the time. I understand if people think a penalty for it is too strict, but either method works for me.

People who don't "buy in" to Corey Crawford

And flip the goalie name and team for game 1 as well. As also was mentioned, 1 game doesn't make or break a goalie as well. Just like the majority in here were all over the one person/few who thought Howard should be benched after not playing the best in game 2 or 3 of the first round, it is pretty foolish for people in here to discredit Crawford all of a sudden just because he plays for a different team when his numbers and play overall this season have suggested otherwise - no matter how he got to those numbers.

    Official Franzen VS Hossa

Hindsight is 20-20. At the time when Hossa played heis season here, I bet a lot of people were going to side with Franzen given his tear in the playoffs those two seasons in 2008 and 2009, and Hossa only producing sparingly in certain games in 2009. Even with Hossa taking a bit of a backseat role in the goal-scoring/point production department when the Hawks won it all in 2010. With their entire bodies of work, it's not even close, Hossa. That being said however, true Franzen can be inconsistent at times, but I still think over the recent years when he started to become more of a goal scorer, at least in the postseason the only year he barely made a dent was last season. The season before he had the sprained ankle which really inhibited him, so going to give him some slack for that in 2010. 2007 when the Wings got eliminated in the conference Finals he started to show some offensive potential and 2008 and 2009 he went on a tear obviously. And, so far he's been involved in this playoff year very well.

WCSF - (1) Chicago Blackhawks vs. (7) Detroit Red Wings

Hawks in 5 or 6, just think they have too much firepower offensively and Crawford is turning into a helluva goalie. That being said, I would love to be incorrect obviously on this guess and it's been a blast watching this team in the playoffs so far. If Howard can continue to play with confidence in the latter part of this series, and others can help out Zetterberg and Datsyuk here and there in the goal department, they obviously got a shot.

Six outdoor games in 2014 for NHL

It's a matter of preference. Do you all want it to be a one-time event annually? If so, you probably won't like this, as is the majority. If you want the league to be more popular in general, it's probably a good thing with all these games. I'm all for a few more outdoor games a year. If it's the league's goal to pull this off on an annual basis now, it'll likely eventually run its course but even though I pretty much just watch games of my favorite team, for any sport, it's a cool concept that typically isn't done much. And 6 times a year out of hundreds and hundreds of games in a season isn't much at all. Enough to keep the concept in your minds, but not overdoing it and hopefully drawing some new fans along the way. If you just want 1 outdoor game a year, well I don't know what to tell you. I look forward to tuning into all of these games. Probably one of the very few but all for these games.

    Leaving a job.

The people who you got along with or who you think can help you out professionally, and vice versa, keep in touch with. It's normal feelings. I got let go in early January without warning from a job I had for nearly 8 years and grew to really enjoy. I didn't make a whole lot of money, but just about every day I enjoyed what I was doing, enjoyed the people, and so forth. Needless to say, I was shocked, devastated, angry, and so on. The split was not passed on well from upper management to me and it is something I will never forget. I understand the risk of being let go in any job, but I'll just re-state how I was let go was completely unprofessional, I'll leave it at that. However, during my long time there I met good people, still keep tabs with what they are doing, both at that company and some that have left elsewhere also. Thankfully I was able to find new employment fairly quickly about 1 1/2 months later and am enjoying my new position most days. Good people. So, try not to get over-emotional on things, but it's natural obviously to feel upset or sad for leaving a place after so long. Maintain contact with the people that you established good working relationships with as well as friendships. They'll help you down the road.

Quickly becoming one of my favorite songs. Originally by Jimi Hendrix and can't stop listening to this version of it. A lot of insanely good funk bass guitar.

    Things that Shanny missed.

It's all going to be subjective no matter what. You can through the angle out all day of protecting star players with no suspensions or minimal fines, I understand that, but Shanahan is in a position where it is all but impossible to please everybody 100% of the time.

    Should Howard be benched?

I didn't watch game 3, but even after that, a big resounding no. Only down 1 game at the time in a series that could honestly go either way/flip a coin. He was arguably the main force taking this team the playoffs, the Monster has had extremely limited playing time due to the team fighting for a playoff spot, as long as Howard isn't injured they are riding on his back whether he gives up 1 goal a game or 8.

    Playing Eaves over Tootoo

They've all looked fine given their situations - Bertuzzi and Samuelsson with limited time due to extended injuries, Eaves remaining on the 4th line, Tootoo providing energy and hitting off/on. Definitely not against Tootoo playing but since Eaves is specificially mentioned, even though he's all but staying on the 4th line, he also has the capability of killing penalties or playing the PP effectively within a 2nd or 3rd unit.

Samuelsson on the top line tonight - god help us all !

It sucked for Samuelsson for just not being able to shake the injury bug for most the season. Nobody could've predicted the injuries he would've had and pretty much in succession, so at the time of the signing and returning, I thought it was a decent one. Took the whipping boy status unfairly a lot and I thought he was serviceable. Who knows though, if he wasn't injured all year, maybe Abdelkader doesn't get a look at first-line minutes and doesn't flourish. A question that can't really be answered, but kind of fun to ponder. Anyways, with what happened with Abdelkader being suspended a few games, it made sense to either put him or Bertuzzi at least on one of the top-2 lines. The rookie line is all but sticking and doing about as well as you could ask for a 3rd line unit of young guns. I wouldn't have minded seeing Tootoo remain in the lineup especially given that he was a part of the 4-game win streak to help get the team in the playoffs, but both Samuelsson and Bertuzzi bring a bit more variety to their games vs. solely just brawn/knuckles. I also think it is a case somewhat of trying to keep Datsyuk and Zetterberg together, as well as hoping Franzen can still produce somewhat consistently as of late in a 2nd line role away from those two. Given Abdelkader's success with Datsyuk and Zetterberg, don't see why he won't be back on there for game 6, butfor the time being Samuelsson played a decent game with them to fill in, not against seeing him there in game 5 (I didn't see game 3 so I didn't know what the line combos etc. were).

  20. I highly approve if true. I don't watch as many games as I used to, but given that I am so used to being an early bird during the week waking up before 5:00 am most days, any game that ends by 9:00-9:30 (8:00-8:30 my time) I am a happy camper with. Plus, I started a new job this past week where I'm still trying to get a feel of my new work environment and consistent hours. There wasn't a snowballs chance is hell I was watching the two late games that were out on the west coast this week. By 9:00 both evenings I was pretty much in complete shutdown mode from exercise early in the morning and training at work.

Running in the marathon that was held down where I live last weekend. Was my 2nd marathon, finished it in 3 hours and 34 minutes. I completely just improved leaps and bounds from doing it the 1st time, and I don't plan on stopping anytime soon. Can't wait to do a 3rd.
