1/19: Red Wings 0 at St. Louis Blues 6

Mine loaded up real slow for the Calgary game, but once it loaded and maybe a few minutes into watching the game, it started working and looking great.

Red Wings OUT of bidding for D Justin Schultz

I wouldn't get too upset. I feel that this whole circus is more likely to damage him then anything, he's going to have a huge amount of pressure to perform. As a young D-man, this is horrible for his development. We're above craving damaged goods with no NHL experience. Plus we won 1 out of the two sweepstakes so far in Brunner, so far the offseason is going well. Next Suter, Semin/Parise, Prust please!

11/3 GDT: Flames 4 at Red Wings 1

I'm going to join the others by posting in the GDT for the first time to reverse our fortune. Let's go Wings!!!

Red Wings sign Ty Conklin to 1 year contract

I feel the same way. Solid signing of Conks at a low cap hit. However, the one thing this off season has shown us is that we need some young trade assets with Holland's refusal to over-pay UFA's, probably even more so next year, to fill in some holes from our older players leaving and under-performers. As it stands now, any young guy that has some value, we don't want to get rid of. If Larsson has attitude problems and what-not, he's still a good player. Let him build up some value by actually giving him some exposure, and trade him if he doesn't fit well here. At least get something for him, and he'd be a young guy that we wouldn't mind getting rid of assuming he has those problems. Probably even better for the Wings, he could end up being a good fit mentally as he matures, and you have another young stud goalie. With J-Mac as a third, it seems less risky. Oh well, Holland is so predictable sometimes or maybe there's some friction between him and Howard that we don't know about. Being a long-time Wings fan, I have to assume it's Holland's cautiousness.

    Wiz is a dick.

I heard it and he did slam the Wings subtly. Less subtle was that he basically said that he wanted money first, and felt the Wings wouldn't pay his "market rate." Notice how he mentioned money first, then how he liked the direction in Columbus 2nd. yeah he came across greedy and that makes him a dick, but also someone you wouldn't hire in an interview.

    Wings re-sign Eaves to 3-year, $3.6m contract

This takes the sting off of the Ericsson contract a bit.... just a tad though. I'm still pissed about that one!!

    RFA/UFA Signings

Yep, I understand. It just seems like it would give us a few days to try to get a contract locked up before a bidding war, in theory possibly saving us cap space. The pick would be conditional too, so it seems to be low risk. This isn't to say that Holland hasn't tried this already or he possibly knows that Wiz won't sign till Friday+ I do have faith in Holland, though he does seem too conservative in pressure situations like this past week or so. Well more conservative than I'd be, which is probably a good thing for sure!

    RFA/UFA Signings

Howdy all. First time caller, long time listener. I signed up just to post something similar to the above post. I'm getting very nervous with the market drying up, and it would seem that trading for Wiz's rights at this point seems safer than the possibility of a bidding war. Giving up an asset will be less of a loss then overpaying over the course of a contract or probably even worse, losing out on a good signing. I really hope that this happens, in fact, I felt this was a good idea on the 2nd day of the draft as well.
