    We Need to Trade

If we end up signing Doan, check out the ages of our top 6: Doan: 36 Datsyuk: 34 Zetterberg: 32 Franzen: 33 Filppula: 28 Samuelsson: 35 Oh my god. That's horrible depressing, especially when you consider an ancient Bertuzzi is sitting in the bottom 6. At least our defense is young....... except Smith is really the only one with any potential. Kronwall is already 31. Goddamn.

    We Need to Trade

This is what I'm praying for (and not expecting) at this point. CAPGEEK.COM USER GENERATED ROSTER My Custom Lineup FORWARDS Alexander Semin ($6.000m) / Pavel Datsyuk ($6.700m) / Shane Doan ($4.500m) Johan Franzen ($3.955m) / Henrik Zetterberg ($6.083m) / Bobby Ryan ($5.100m) Damien Brunner ($1.350m) / Valtteri Filppula ($3.000m) / Mikael Samuelsson ($3.000m) Jordin Tootoo ($1.900m) / Darren Helm ($2.125m) / Todd Bertuzzi ($2.075m) Cory Emmerton ($0.533m) / Drew Miller ($0.838m) / DEFENSEMEN Niklas Kronwall ($4.750m) / Tobias Enstrom ($3.750m) Jonathan Ericsson ($3.250m) / Brendan Smith ($0.875m) Pavel Kubina ($2.500m) / Ian White ($2.875m) Jakub Kindl ($0.883m) / GOALTENDERS Jimmy Howard ($2.250m) Jonas Gustavsson ($1.500m) ------ CAPGEEK.COM TOTALS (follow @capgeek on Twitter) (these totals are compiled without the bonus cushion) SALARY CAP: $70,200,000; CAP PAYROLL: $69,792,045; BONUSES: $425,000 CAP SPACE (23-man roster): $407,955 has us putting Eaves on LTIR and throwing Cleary somewhere (prob in one of the trades). we just have way too many forwards. Nyquist is traded. Abdelkader goes somewhere. I hate that we have Bertuzzi, he just doesn't fit ANYWHERE. I think our best bet is to just load up on offense at this point because our defense is going to suck no matter what now. man, that's the most unrealistic roster ever. I have no idea what we trade to get Ryan and Enstrom. We're so screwed.

CAPGEEK.COM USER GENERATED ROSTER My Custom Lineup FORWARDS Alexander Semin ($6.000m) / Pavel Datsyuk ($6.700m) / Johan Franzen ($3.955m) Zach Parise ($7.000m) / Henrik Zetterberg ($6.083m) / Valtteri Filppula ($3.000m) Gustav Nyquist ($0.875m) / Darren Helm ($1.500m) / Patrick Eaves ($1.200m) Drew Miller ($0.838m) / Justin Abdelkader ($1.000m) / Todd Bertuzzi ($2.075m) Jan Mursak ($0.550m) / Cory Emmerton ($0.533m) / DEFENSEMEN Ryan Suter ($7.000m) / Brendan Smith ($0.875m) Niklas Kronwall ($4.750m) / Justin Schultz ($3.250m) Ian White ($2.875m) / Jonathan Ericsson ($3.250m) Jakub Kindl ($0.883m) / GOALTENDERS Jimmy Howard ($2.250m) Joey MacDonald ($0.550m) ------ CAPGEEK.COM TOTALS (follow @capgeek on Twitter) (these totals are compiled without the bonus cushion) SALARY CAP: $67,300,000; CAP PAYROLL: $66,992,045; BONUSES: $37,500 CAP SPACE (23-man roster): $307,955 This is contingent on dumping Cleary somewhere and assuming the cap rises 4 mil. Probably wouldn't have to pay Schultz anywhere near that much though so that can make up for some of the difference, also a chance you can get Parise/Suter for lesser cap hits.

Red Wings trying to move Jiri Hudler

This exactly, Yandle is only two years older than Smith also. It'd be a no-brainer.
  5. Agalloch93

"We feel good with the people we have," Holland said

Like I said before, if he somehow acquires Yandle, the Wings are instantly the favorites for the Cup again. Lidstrom - White Yandle - Kronwall Stuart - Ericsson Commodore That's ridiculous.

    Brett Lebda traded to Nashville

I like how you assume Suter wants to re-sign in the first place. If this trade proves anything it's that Nashville simply doesn't have the cap flexibility to realistically ever be a favorite for the Stanley Cup, the only time they did was in 2006-2007 and ever since then all they want to do is drop as much payroll as possible. I could definitely see Suter moving on. Or he stays put, who cares? They still just got destroyed in this trade. You don't trade a young second pairing d-man for nothing.

Wings sign D Ian White to 2-year, $5.75m contract

This is the greatest thing I've ever seen.

Wings sign D Ian White to 2-year, $5.75m contract

Funny you say this because every single Sharks fan said one of the best things about him is how he plays his hardest every game and stepped up big time in the playoffs. I guess you'd know better though. Guess you forgot he scored on us also.

Wings sign D Ian White to 2-year, $5.75m contract

Smith + another solid FA unless Suter somehow hits free agency.

    Wings looking at Ty Conklin

Vokoun won't be the clear #1 goalie at all. He and Neuvirth will probably split exactly 50/50 and then whoever plays best gets the playoffs. With that said, anyone getting all pissed off at Holland for not getting him is just ridiculous as usual. The Wings have committed to Howard as the starting goaltender for the near and distant future, and rightfully so.

Wings sign D Ian White to 2-year, $5.75m contract

I think Stuart is an awful fit on the PP

Wings sign D Ian White to 2-year, $5.75m contract

The thing is we don't have Babcock's patented forward to put on the second unit point this year. Samuelsson, then Modano, now... no one is a fit back there. I certainly don't think Stuart will be back there. I guess he might use Commodore back there if he REALLY wants a right handed shot.

Wings sign D Ian White to 2-year, $5.75m contract

This is true, but I'm guessing this is one of the things that Holland Babcock were talking about when they said Ericsson was going to get an "increased role" this year and that they expect more points out of him. I see the pairings as probably Lidstrom - White and Kronwall - Ericsson on the PP. Weber, Suter, Burns, and Doughty. Lidstrom - Weber Suter - Burns Doughty - Kronwall Stuart Are you saying you were expecting anything less? Fire Holland.
