When Howard is in net for game 7 of the second round wouldn't you want to maximize the teams talent on the ice (a good defensemen), rather than having that talent sit on the bench (Gus). He's played great and that's why I think it would be a good idea if we could get something for him. I remember for a little while people thought he was the answer for Toronto when they had Reimer and Gus. Now if Howard were to get injured in the playoffs it'd look bad, but it's also a matter of if your willing to take the risk to utilize the potential elsewhere on the ice. More often than not teams don't have to use their backup at all in the playoffs.

PIT has spent plenty of time without Crosby and Malkin, and they did fine in the regular season. Same with the senators. I expect the wings to keep a reasonable pace for winning in these next couple of weeks.

And what makes Bryz a bad one? The fact that he's interested in space? You're just jumping on the bandwagon that constantly bashes the guy, because he's been given this bad teammate rep.

If we're trying to target a TOP defensemen who is everyone looking at in next years FA. Who else besides Edler is everyone looking at as a premiere defensemen. Murray? Kimmo? Yandle is young, he's signed for a couple seasons, there's really no reason to hold out on him. if Weber was still out there then i would wait. But that class as it stands is not worth waiting for.

And considering Filppula's is a UFA next year. And unless he is bottling up his anxiety to get out of detroit, I assume he would resign with us, but you can't say that for the coyotes. It makes him a lot more valuable to us than he is to them.
