Man Filpula could easily net a first and a good prospect, given those prices. Sent from my BlackBerry

Detroit Red Wings have traded their 6 round pick for Matt Kassian - April Fools - never happens this team doesn't need grit or enforcers...

Oilers sign Ladisav Smid to 4 year / $14mil extension

Wasn't this the guy who waived his NTC to go to Buffalo after talking with their owner? Doubt they'll give him away easily. -
Brunner hasn't hit the wall. He has slammed into it.

True which is sad. -
with trade deadline approaching - who's our tradeable assets?
frankgrimes replied to nyqvististhefuture's topic in General
Filps isn't worth 5 m per sorry. He is a good player but nothing special and giving him 5 m per would be a huge overpayment. Dealing him to a bottom feeder and getting a top 10 pick would be so huge for this team. Please stay away from Gaborik, he has a very high cap hit, would cost the Wings some good assets plus not making them a contender so no. -

Me too ever since Crosby and Ovechkin have come to this league and run up the score-sheet people are expecting way too much from rookies, these days. Even Stamkos was labeled a bust because he didn't light it up in his first year... -

Hopefully it just april fools and not really true. Guy would look good in red and white. -
The Wings don't have to buy somebody out, you can just send them to the Griffins and get rid off their salary. As for teams in cap crunch, keep in mind the cap will go up after next season again so we are talking about a one year transition period here.

The guy has only played ~30 games in the NHL, exceeded expectations and already people are starting to call him out? wow -

If the Wings could get a first for Filps, a second for White and a 3rd for Colaiaccovo that would be a great start. All in all I think it will be a very quiet tradedeadline, the biggest chip has already signed other than that there maybe a bunch of depth signings but nothing earth shattering. -
While I am happy for their fans, unbelievable what they've gone through I don't understand it: They've traded away their top-scorer, face of the franchise basically have no real first line and playing playoff hockey? 3 first round picks is damn huge and if the Rangers truely tuned out Tortarella the Rangers pick mid be a good one also. Sure they have had nowhere to go but up but this fast is really impressive.

Very good point, given the players Babcock has to work with I think he has done a marvelous job. Can't mention it often enough, the Detroit Red Wings used to be a team with a ton of superstars now they are down to two and a lot! of either over the hill -or- depth players so expecting to compete with the tank to win powerhouses is just asking too much.
-
Hardnosed and stubborn coaches are having a very short stint and Torts is the best example of a coach demanding too much and being stubborn. Read a poll where players stated him and Wilson would be the last coaches they'd be willing to play for.

0 Stanley Cups, forced firing by the higher ups of the Sabres so thanks but no. Babcock is not the problem with this team, these are transition years so might as well give it time. Losing some and winning some in a row are exactly the attributes of average teams (only bad teams are worse), so give it time, be sellers and play the kids.

The Iginla story is 100 % the reason, why I never trust sources till its official. Flames had to ask Iginla, he used is right and said no I want to play with Pittsburgh for me personally it didn't change one bit of my mind about him, he is a class act on and off the ice and deserves his name on a cup. Jay Feaster should know the rules regarding NMC/NTC contracts, don't confirm anything before speaking to the player and getting his ok, can't be that hard to do?

Dreger: Wings 'very interested' in Bouwmeester *merged*
frankgrimes replied to b.shanafan14's topic in General
Could decision buying rentals only makes sense if you are contender, which the Wings aren't but Jay Bouwmeester is not a rental. -
Does the upcoming realignment change our trade options?
frankgrimes replied to turbowhistle86's topic in General
I think it would be stupid, if you obviously can make your team better you should do the trade, doesn't matter if you face the team again in the playoffs or in the conference. Having said that, next year is the time to get an enforcer, otherwhise Boston, Toronto and Buffalo will bully this team around like nothing. I really hope one of the top tough guys will be available (my dream would be Kassian or Stevie Mac). -
Happy birthdayand happy eastern hockeygod! Heres to another 85, best of luck and health to you and your loved ones. Go Mr. Wings Hockey Go"!

I like that move, Holland is making room for Dekeyser here. -

Giving up a second rounder for a guy, who can't even do much on a bottom-dweller seems to be a bit steep? Either the Blues are getting very desperate or these ridiculous prices are the reality in the "new" nhl. -
I think Smith and Dekeyser could be a very nice pairing for at least another decade. Really happy he is signed, way to go Dekeyser! Lidström is even doing great things for this organization after retirement, just a walking legend. Loved the interview guy is coming off very smart and calm.

Not surprised but what was Rutherford thinking when they've signed him? He was always an offensive force never ever good in his own zone or a shutdown type of guy.

Crosby left the game after puck to the face
frankgrimes replied to nyqvististhefuture's topic in General
Man that sucks, I don't care if people like the guy or not but seeing someone getting lined up by a 99 mp/h blast isn't something I'll be ever cheering for. Had this kind of luck with a "professional boomerrang" when I was younger and even then the blood was coming out like nothing now imagine what a puck can do. Also in Crosby's case such things could make his conussion return and really thats not something to laugh at. I don't like his attitude although he has gotten better over the years but his talentlevel is through the roof, so get well soon and yes even as a diehard Detroit Red Wings fan I feel wishing him well, is the right thing to do.
