    3/25 GDT : Red Wings 3 at Coyotes 2

Afer two wins in a row against the flying Ducks a nice little streak would be cool, but this game basically has all the makings of being a huge downer for the Wings.
  2. Slow? Letang, Crosby, Malkin and even Neal aren't exactly slow. Physically they still have Engelland, Big Steve MacIntyre, as their top enforcers and then a lot of gritty players and just added one in Murray. IF they can sort out their defensive shortcomings, this team will be very dangerous.

hockey central mentioned wings should maybe pursue iginla and bouwmees

Getting Jay Bouwmeester for a reasonable pricetag and adding Dan DeKeyser would be a succesful t radedeadline in my eyes but like mentioned before, if prices don't reach a reasonable point rather stay pat.
  4. Looks like Pittsburgh is really pushing it this year, Murray is an absolute beast would have loved seeing him with the Wings but you have to wonder, if a 3 could have been enough?
  5. I'd do something like Kindl, Mursak or maybe Tatar IF Calgary sweetens the deal by adding a second rounder. Which will easily not be enough to get Iginla. The trade-deadline prices this year are ridiculous, if this continues I really pray for Holland to stay pat and not messing up the future. Names like Nyquist, Smith, 1 2013 should be absolutely no-gos from a Wings perspective.
  6. Like I said yesterday, seeing at what the Pens were willing to pay for Morrow I don't even want to think about the pricetag for Iginla. This has to be a big nono from Holland. Wings are not an Iginla away from contending for the cup.

    Brenden Morrow Traded to Penguins

Sure the Pens got better...but only for now they've gotten way worse going forward. Their prospect now is Despres or whatever his name is, the big club only has Letang as an outstanding defenseman other than that the D is still their weakness. So giving up what they did for an injury prone playerwasn't the smartest thing to do in my eyes. for the Wings this will mean several things: 1. if these are the default prices I am even more happy the Wings aren't on Iginla's list 2. Filpula's value just rose to new dimension (1st + decent prospect + depth player) -> I like that a lot 3. given 1 I fully agree with Holland standing pat, trading away the future for shortterm help is not going to lead to the promised land.

Well played Sir, well played *rofl*

    Guy Boucher fired

Very well said, Holland is a genius and has done a lot for this organization, but not giving Smith the opportunity to play with an allstar top 3 defenseman was a big mistake on his part. Letting talent rot in the AHL is not the way to go forward and also not something the Detroit Red Wings can afford to do any longer, because the team isn't overloaded with star-potential.

    Brenden Morrow Traded to Penguins

*lol* if Jo Morrow is going to Dallas Pittsburgh got ripped off here. HFs Future has this to say about him FutureMorrow will compete for a spot with the Penguins in training camp but is almost assuredly headed to the Penguins AHL affiliate in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, where he'll work out the finer points of his game. He projects as a top-four defenseman who can contribute at both ends of the ice.

    NY Rangers

Tortarella is a very emotion hardnosed coach, he is exactly the type of coach who will bring you results at first but quickly wear off = players are tuning him out. Yeah they do have Stepan, Hagelin and Callahan and oh well Kreider but for whatever reason, are heavily depending on their top line. Splitting up the first line might not be a bad idea, Nash is a bulldozer who should be able to create some room for the smaller guys.

    Guy Boucher fired

'Yes, Holland is still better hard to do when someone is considered the best at his job? So Stevie learning even more from Holland wouldn't be a bad thing and whenever Hollands decides to move up in the organization as President of Hockey Operation and selects Yzerman is his successor it would be amazing. Some people are way too hard on Yzerman, given the stuff he has to work with. The guy won olympic gold with team Canada IN Canada, so this means under ridiculous pressure and onlyh ad a few months to assemple his allstar team. The so called "Team America" highly depended on a hot goalie known as Ryan Miller, Canada on the other side was loaded from top to bottom, even their D-core was pretty damn impressive. Yes, everyone can select an allstar roster but forming them into a team is extremely difficult, he did succeed in that regard but sadly doesn't receive enough praise for it. Yeah rather have someone, inexperienced who is calling out his own players just to justify a lockout, ridiculous.... To me the list is as follows Chiarelli > Shero > Yzerman if Holland moves on.

    10/24 GDT : Red Wings 2 at Ducks 1

Ducks are going to come out flying and pissed, Wings better be prepared getting a point would be nice.

Brendan Morrow to PIT in the works

It is amazing, how the Penguins are nowadays always one of the frontrunners for the better players. I know they have Letang, Crosby and Malkin but seriously they aren't a top revenue team and yet Lemenieux, who may be incredible rich is not a billionaire as far as I know, so how are they paying for all the bills revenue-sharing??

    Guy Boucher fired

I still don't understand, why they didn't draft Fowler some years ago. Their defense sucks and Fowler would have been a great addition to their backend. With Boucher fired and Stevie to pick the next one, waters could and should get a little hot for him if things don't work out again. One has to keep in mind, that it is hard to built a competitive team with an internal budget. If Stevie gets fired next, I hope the Wings pick him up so he can replace Holland, whenever he decides to retire.

Iginla has given Calgary a list of 3 teams - DET on it ?!

Iginla on Crosbys or Malkins Wing will be a deadly combination. Although a class act guy, I am glad the Wings aren't on his list because it wouldn't make sense from a Detroit Red Wings point of view, this team can not afford to give up any assets.

    Interesting stat for fight fans

Highly doubt it, most media people do have some connections to internal sources maybe not to the degree of guys like Dreger, Lebrun and MacKenzie but still. Discussions we as fans have are a different beast.

    NY Rangers

They have gone from balanced scoring and hardwork to basically a one-line team, without a fitting system = receipe for disaster if Gaborik, Richards and Nash are having an off game changes are very high to beat them. Lundquist would have to be even more amazing than he already is every night without much defensive help.. I also think the Rangers could need some toughness on their roster, they did trade away too much good guys, losing Prust, Rupp (according to some Rangeersites a locker room favourite) and Scott has made them a bunch of countryclub players again. To be honest I had them as the team to beat this off-season but right now it doesn't look like they'll make it out of the first round, if they even make the playoffs.

NHL penalties/suspensions for hits getting out of hand.

This is NHL edition is the worst I've seen since almost a decade: - Original 6 teams aren't allowed to use their powers anymore although they are the backbone of this ........... league - random punished for comparable hits, if Lupul gets 2 so has Nash and Perry (4 games whom are you kidding Shanahan?). Edler to looked like 1 at best.. - N o H it L eague - N o E nforcer L eague people aren't allowed to hit other players anymore, enforcers going after pests are getting thrown out of games and on top of that, this bushleague even wants to remove player freedom by discussing mandatory visor for ADULTS - complete joke btw. big bad Shanahan look at your own career and stop punsihing the result instead of the action or at least know the difference between fake and r eal injuries.

    ryan miller available?

Whatever I think it would be a gamble - given the right price - that is fully worth it, but honestly would be shocked if Buffalo is moving him. Other than Enroth who by the way is not a starter so far, they have absolutely no goaltending depth.
  22. frankgrimes

    ryan miller available?

No the current goalie = Howard =/= Miller. Miller has had more than one good season, goaltenders are getting elite status just for one good season. Especially Quick will have to show, that he can at least come close to the season he had last year and Rask like mentioned is in his first year as a starter, so slow down here.

    Mike McKee

*lol* at getting suspended for too many majors, this guy will be one heck of an enforcer I hope he doesn't let these clowns change the way he is approaching this game. So thrilled to have this gem of a prospect.

Why the Red Wings should be sellers this year

Sadly for us it ended long before that time, i.e after the last embarrassing Stanley Cup loss...followed by 2 round exits and last years first round fiasco.

6th Place is the Ideal Spot - Let's aim for 6th boys

Usually playing for 6th = you are only a few points above the 7 and 8 seed this is a gamble that could backfire hard. I couldn't care less about the spot , at first you always have to make the playoffs and then people can look at possible positions but before that, there really is no point in doing so. The upcoming roadtrip might determine, if the Detroit Red Wings are going to be in the playoffs or not.
