I'd love the Sabres waiving John Scott this guy should be an inmediate pickup for us. Strong as a bull and easily a top 5 enforcer in the league. So whenever the Preds decide to dress Rives or McGrattan we would have someone to answer. Lucic is a spotpicker, I have never seen him fighting guys like Scott, MacIntyre, McGrattan or Orr after Orr broke his nose. He hasn't even fought Engelland who is way smaller both in size and weightclass. That said pick him up and build a gritty, no nonsense line for the first time since years.

This guy is just out of world with the puck, he almost made the whole Predatordefense look like beer league players and on top of that scored against the leagues best goalie so far this season. It will be a sad day, seeing him leaving back home so enjoy the last 2 years of his magic, it will end in the not so distant future, sadly. I also think his English has become better.

This guy is going to be the next MacIntyre in this league. Give him 3 more years and he is will be a top enforcer in this league. Can't wait to see him with the big club, loved this pick and still do great find by Holland. Sent from my BlackBerry

They are unreal this season, when your top 6 has guys like Hossa, Sharp, Captain Serious and Kane in it you are set. Add to that a great 3 line guy in Bolland and you look even better. Crawford never had the chance the chance, to play behind a deep talented defense and the mighty Niemi did not play that well against the Flyers but he didn't need to he was above average at the very best. I'5 love seeing Seabrook and Keith in Red and White. Sent from my BlackBerry

In a shortened season with such a close schedule and so many division games every game is important. Sure this team is injury prone right now but a win against the Jackets needs to happen, boys could need a boost in thei confidence, I am sure of that. Sent from my BlackBerry

Sens Karlsson suffers lacerated Achilles tendon
frankgrimes replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
If you think Karlsson is just sitting at home collecting his cheques you are wrong, the guy will have to do an intense rehab, skate a few weeks on basically one leg, same goes for the gym and take cabs whereever he wants to go. So yes, he is getting a lot of money but this doesn't mean, this injury will be an easy one to overcome...so sitting at home and doing nothing might be far from the truth. -
Most people knew this would be a rollercoaster season: short training camp, transistion year and very intense 48 game schedule add to that the Wings deflated roster and here we go. I really hope it doesn't matter, if this team is making the playoffs or not, a rebuild has to be started at some point. Even - which I highly highly doubt - Holland would want to keep the status quo, there is no way Babcock will accept mediocrity. Remember how he was absolut furious about the first time loss against the Predators? He was quoted saying something like: ,,Since our last Stanley Cup Final we've lost in two times in the second round and now in the first round...To me this not improving it is going downwards". This guy wants to win bad and in order to do so, it is Hollands job to give him a roster, that is capable off winning longterm, not shortterm fixes. Freaking out after every win/loss is going to do anything other than waste adrenaline. Whatever happens happens nobody here can influence it, let's just hope we're going to see an overloaded Wingsteam in the not so distant future again. After all this is Hockeytown - where winning is a tradition!

Exactly he is what he is, which is a great second pairing guy just not good enough to be a number one. So asking him to do that job without Lidström is just too much.

GDT 2/15 GDT : Anaheim Ducks 5 at Red Wings 2
frankgrimes replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
As much as I love Datsyuk, losing Lidas made me nervous since rumors!!! about his retirement. Not even the god of danglers Datsyuk can come close to it. I am not surprised the Ducks are off to a fantastique start so far and the Wings are injury rattled. -
Big Bert is a warrior he will be back in no time, but if it is really that serious I hope he hangs hit up for his own sake and health beyond hockey.

It's Matt bastard Cooke for crying out loud, so the benefit of the doub t has no place here. I also don't care if it was intentional or not the fact remains, whenever crap happens the Penguins are somehow always involved in it and their owner is one of the guys always screaming for players safety, if something bad is happening to HIS players. Well Lemieux how about screaming for Kevlar socks now? To be honest watching Karlsson play has made the loss of Lidström a little bit easier, because his talent does remind me a bit of our alltime great. So come back soon kid. I wish Cooke would have to answer for it, but it is not gonna happen and the reason for that is in the AHL Steve MacIntyre. Nobody is going to fight this guy or try any cheapshots with him in the lineup, so Pittsburgh can basically call him up the next time they are going to play against the Senators and nothing will happen. The league should have thrown the book at Cooke after the Savard thing they didn't and thats unexcuseable. -
If we can sign this guy for 4 -5 million a year I'd say go for it. In a world where Zajac is making 5.75, Grabovski almost the same getting Filps for a lower amount would be unbelievable.

Agreed about the Metroid game, also loved Predator on the SNES or double dragon man great games from a sadly past era.
-
Maybe he doesn't want to be a head coach again after getting fired? I've read somewhere think it was on tsn.ca that both the coach and GM are on a hot seat this season and you can bet Wilson would fire him in order to keep his job.

Getting rid of a game system is a bit different and like others explained owners are not going to be fond of that idea.

Watched the replay again even Alfredsson (spelling)? pointed to all the refs showing them that the puck was over the class and they should have stopped the game. It is really to bad now referee errors aren't "only" costing games they cost players their own healthcare, really unfortunate. . I fully agree Cooke has a long history so it doesn't matter if it was intentional or not, he should get a suspension for it or else Malkin or Crosby are going to have to pay for it the Penguins better dress MacIntyre every night, because both are going to need him bad this season. -
Babcock is a coach and as a coach you can't be satisfied your job is to push the best 1 % of worldwide hockeyplayers to be even better every game. I think it was Burke who once said, how most of the feedback a coach is giving to his players will be negative. Also Babcock is right, this team didn't have to work as hard a few seasons ago, because their skillset was that outstanding now other teams are equally or even higher skilled, so in order to gain wins and overcome that disparity the Red Wings have to work even harder to be succesful. I really have no problem with him stating the obvious. If the Sharks are firing MacLellan we should bring him back as an assistant coach, they guy knows how to run a powerplay or penalty kill! Hardly anyone would see this roster as a stanley cup one and yet Babcock managed to implement a system of working hard and getting the results I for one applaud him and hopefully this team can keep it up and make the playoffs.
-
Look at the team Babcock has this season and this will answer your question. He is the best coach in all of hockey without a question, Babcock is human and will make mistakes like everyone else but given the roster he has currently I think he is doing an amazing job. Wings are without a top pairing defensive, lost an alltime great and aren't allowed to use their money to their advance -->tough situation to be in. Our owner would easily spend 100 m just to ice a winner year in year out, but he isn't allowed to do so
-
Owners are not going to remove their corporate luxury seats for that and the trap is part of the game so why remove it?

I am so sick of that POS, the sad part is he won't have to answer for this "accident" - yeah sure it is an accident put your damn foot down and skate like others!! - the Penguins have guys like MacIntyre and Engelland to protect him..really unfortunate the book of tough guys should be thrown at him every game. Aaron Ward mentioned on TSN that players are using their legs to gain more control now, because pushing and grabbing is under a heavy ref microscope. So good job NHL instead of some pushes and a bit of grabbing now are getting their legs cut by guys that shouldn't be in the league any longer. This league is becoming more and more of a joke give this idiot 30 games. -
I think it would be a smart move to get his son under contract as soon as possible. Sadly, I haven't found much information about him. Even if the guy is not as good as Nick, I an sure the perfect human shared his hockey IQ with him. Can't wait for the perfect human part 2 Sent from my BlackBerry

The NHL has a real talent in overlooking the obvious: PA rejected this proposal for good reasons and now they are comingf back with the exactly same one? Unbelievable. Sent from my BlackBerry

Howson Fired in Columbus, Jarmo Kekalainen named new GM
frankgrimes replied to VM1138's topic in General
This was sth everyone knew it would happen. Howson threw their only starplayer under the bus, traded for a player that did not want to be there. But like mentioned above Columbus has to open some money, if they want to be competitive. Burke and Davidson in one organization? Hardly possible BB demands full autonomy and a "celebrity status" Columbus provides neither. I have a feeling he is waiting for a job within the Caps. Wishing Howson allk the best and hopefully Burke has matured during the last weeks. Sent from my BlackBerry -
Milbury is an absolute idiot, the guy will never say anything against the Bruins. It's like Edwards "oh no Thornton got his ass handed to him by Scott......but Scott is only a goon and playing single digits per night" how about giving credit to one of the best enforcers in the game you damn Bruins homers. Chicago is damn hot since the start if they keep this up, they are in for a deep playoff run and I absolutely hate that fact, so hopefully they are going to come down to earth soon. I am really surprised how quickly Vancouver has turned their season around, they are riding a 5 game winning streak right now and both goalies are hot. Blues are in some kind of a slump but I still think this team is in for a deep playoff run which doesn't make it easier for us to sneak into the playoffs. I really didn't expect the Kings to start that sloppy, this is basically the same roster that won the Stanley Cup, they don't need to figure out a new system or having to attach themselves to new linemates but yet they seem to be not clicking at all, maybe a postponed Stanley Cup hangover? Devils are the most surprisingly team to me, I thought after losing Parise and Brodeur getting older they could miss the playoffs but now they are dominating the east and are doing so against great teams, such as Pittsburgh or New York really impressive. Hopefully they can figure out their ownership situation soon would suck seeing all the work Lamourillo (spelling)? has done going to another place.
