Sean O'Donnell Announces Retirement
frankgrimes replied to Bring Back The Bruise Bros's topic in General
Agreed all the best, hopefully TSN will pick him up class act. -
28 - 14 - 6 62 Points should be good enough to make the playoffs as a 7/8 seed

I really think Bouwmeester has to be one of the most underrated if not the most underrated defenseman since a longtime. The guy can eat big minutes and perform, he may not be in the elite class but he still is a damn good defender. Maybe a culture change is exactly, what he needs. Rather take a gamble on him than the overrated Yandle.

Wow big Bert that was almost datsyuklike -
Well the stars are doing it really simple their code is "stars" why can't the Red Wings use such a simple codeword?

GCL can get bent not going to pay a dime for this league this season. Making it free would have been a nice move but whatever there are enough other options to watch these games. -
Well I respect the italian, spanish leagues don't know the exact names so sorry for that and of course the EPL but the german one? No ways, the EPL returned to the kick and rush style since the attendance went way down after they've tried to do it like the italian league and play a more defensive minded system but compared to hockey soccer looks like slow motion :-) I think every team in the world would have a hard team beating the top tier teams in the EPL. Although Manchester United has seen way better squats before Glacer took over.

Sure. This Roubitaille guy seems to be a very smart marketing person, the Kings are doing an excellent job in that regard. Funny, the most storied franchises original 6 plus teams like Philly, Vancouver, Calgary are doing absolutely nothing. The Flyers way to say "sorry" is "to flyer you up" even the term itself is stupid. Just saw a Bruins billboard stating "Lets Go Bruins" would love seeing someone, take that crap down. A nice gesture would have been, to pay the 1m fine and speak up against the nickle and dime owners, would have given us an advantage when it comes to UFA signings. Sadly, the most storied franchises are taking fans for granted.
-
Lockout would have been ruled against employees rights so we would have hockey and a ton of great UFA players waiting to get a ringtone from Kenny. I think Visnovsky is playing the slovakian league for his hometown team and wants to stay there. I'd take Boumeester over Yandle any day and 3 times out of 3, given the right system this guy can be a stud again but I don't think Holland is willing to move the pieces to get him.

If the damn NHLPA would have decertified our D would have been fixed before the season even started, it is really to bad. One of Weber, Suter, Letang, Pietrangelo, Doughty would be wearing the DRW logo and the D would be set for the next decade. If Howard or Gustavsson are playing lights out this team will make the playoffs if not streak done.
-
Thats really impressive but keep in mind they are playing in a city where hockey really isn't that famous, I think they are lifing in the Kings shadow a bit.
-
Ya how about using that money for yozur own organization instead of giving it away - throw it down the toilet - called revenue sharing.
-
Just play the game and bring home another cup for the best owner in all of pro sports.
-
Dealing is a two way street, the Wings need a legitimate top 2 defense, we have none so far. These guys are extremely hard to get so either say goodbye to Nyquist, Smith + Filp OR draft one, because if the Blues are going to protect Pietrangelo we can't even sign one thanks to be stupid cap. Franzen, Tatar, Mursak, Emmerton and whoever else aren't having much value to us so what makes you believe other teams are lining up to pay a ransom for them? Yandle is solid but nowhere near the quality I expect from a DRW #1/#2 guy.
-
Well @ 700k it would have been worth a shot so good for him.
-
Well I've watched a bit of it too and ask a friend of mine who is a huge soccer fan about this: He basically said the EPL is also the league with the most foreign players so not a lot of room for hometown guys and there national team is the result of this. Don't if its true or not but I think he has a point. I think soccer as a whole is overrated but the atmosphere in these arenas seems to be amazing.

Gomez for DiPitro anyone?
-
The Canucks are a pretty run and gun team add to that the pressure of expectations Stanley Cup o BUST no goaltender will have an easy life there. I fully agree Luongo is easily one of the top 5 goaltenders in the league, its like Lundquist, Rinne, Miller, Quick (if he can repeat his performance) and then Luongo a very small and strong group to be in. How can Philly afford to pay almost 11 million annualy for two goaltenders? No way, they've chosen Bryzgalov and now have to stick with him.

thought they aren't allowed to do deals till the season startss?

The thing with Burkie is this: The guy loves and "thrives" under the celebrity spotlight status as he clearly showed in Toronto. I think a role between Shanahan und Bettman as the mediator for penalties would be perfect for him, he likes a tougher style and wants players having to answer for their actions but please keep that guy away from the media. Also his believes of what a GM should be are false, your job as a GM is build a winner everything else is secondary thought at best. I've watched an interview between him and Duthie - which I really respect by the way - at one time Burke came off real classy just to be become an absolute arrogant douchbag seconds later. If he learns to keep his political agenda to himself, calm down a lot more and using his IQ instead of his mouth he'll be another GM somewhere, someday soon if not I think he is done as a GM. Makes you appreciate guys like Holland, Shero and Chiarelli (has to work under a tight budget although his team is making plenty of $) even more they are quiet guys just doing their business and getting the job done :-) Having said that I think his person 2 person interview was way better than his exit video infront of the almost whole Toronto media.
-
Best example would be the great one superb player but just couldn't teach others how to play the game. Which I still can't understand but having a guy like Niedermayer running your D has to be a big plus. That guy was easily 2 behind the perfect human at least it will work wonders for Fowler.
-
Well if it works out, nice if not no worries here so it is worth a shot I guess.
-
Ah well great ... To me they are the division runnaways this year followed by the Blackhawks Sent from my BlackBerry

Yes it is, just cut the "we are sorry" crap they aren't sorry otherwhise this lockout would have never happened in the first place. If they tell me they are sorry I tell them GET BENT
