2017 ECSF Washington Caps vs. Pittsburgh Pens

So happy for Phil the thrill, introverted underappreciated player on the Leafs and such a great wristshot, keep it up Phil. With the Hawks out the Pens are just the best team left it's easy to see.

Red Wings drop 2 spots, will pick 9th in NHL Draft

So? The Leafs were 1 number away from getting McJesus and it didn't happen. Instead of blaming the lottery blame the useless points after the Wings were out,. I mean, it's still a lottery but smart teams should at least try to increase their odds it doesn't always work out but it for sure is better than this season with no rewards at all. Anyway it is what it is, here's what I would try: Liljegren has added a bit of a weight that's a good sign so maybe pick him. I don't think Vilardi will fall to 9 heck I didn't even think he would fall to 7 trade Green, Goose/ Tatar and whomever to get another solid pick and choose Foote gives you 2 defenseman (Foote being the safe stay at home rugged hard to play against guy and Liljegren the creative more offensive minded type). At 9 th all the centers with potential will be gone and please avoid another boom or bust scenario that's rolling the dice again, something a team in a rebuild can't afford. For sure gone: Patrick, Hirschier, Vilardi, Tippet Probably gone: Liljegren, Poehling, Mittelstadt NO TO: Makar, Glass and Necas

Red Wings drop 2 spots, will pick 9th in NHL Draft

The problem is at that range even if you trade the guy you aren't getting what you need. Brand new shiny arena but no starpotential talent to watch haha, what a great way to go into a new building. This will be a long year, would like to already fast forward to the 2018 draft and hopefully the Wings with some luck get at least a top 4 pick

Red Wings drop 2 spots, will pick 9th in NHL Draft

It will be some undersized unheard of sleeper pick who had a few good weeks before the end of the season. Personally I would like Foote or Vilardi. Canuck fans must be furious they have again dropped a few spots.

Less is not more exciting for the Chicago Blackhawks

Yeah makes sense to compare the current Hawks to the Wings of course... Should be obvious that the Hawks want to win and the Wings fans should be happy with the just make the playoffs attitude.

    Happy for the King

    Targets for the Wings

Simmonds is still young, plays the game hard AND likes to get into scrum here and there so why deal for him when you can sign another soft over 30 player...Also Hextall would be out of his mind to deal him, who is going to keep other players honest?
  10. Well 1 team wants to win the cup instead of hoping to make the playoffs and maybe have some players turn out better than expected...I would be shocked if Lombardi isn't the GM soon

Eichel won't re-up if Bylsma remains coach

Not it was mentioning that fact in general

Eichel won't re-up if Bylsma remains coach

There isn't anything like it it's just clickbait and the usual suspects are falling for it. HFboards like McKenzie (thankfully) mentioned has become a collection of ass clowns and of course they are all falling for it. Facts are facts Bylsma hasn't gotten it done and he just doesn't know how to coach defense add the fact that one of the best GMs in the game is available in Lombardi and one of the best coaches in Hitchcock firing the duo made too much sense. Maybe Murray didn't want to fire Bylsma so Pegula fired both of them. If I'm Eichel I would sue the journalist who reported this crap without any evidence.

2017 ECQF: Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Washington Capitals

Babs is making a strong case for the Jack Adams Toronto needed 2 years to rebuild add a defender and they will be a force to recognize for a long time

Which UFA's do the Wings re-sign?

    Dylan McIlrath
  17. Yes I did say I want to burn it down and do a scorched earth rebuild, which is exactly what I've described. You keep Kronner and Z as the vets, sign guys to one year contracts! and then flip them for picks and of course you play the kids and while the learn increase your chances at the top picks. Why would we? I guess we all want to see the Wings being on top of the NHL again the only thing we differ is how to get there. Personally I think I've seen enough from some players to assume that they won't be future stars and when you have other teams loaded with talent it makes rebuilding even harder. And I don't believe the current strategy is working but Chris has spoken and for now it's status quo, only exception being if it's just lip service and he has some inside information on Stevie Y maybe becoming available. As far as Chychrun goes I fully agree, he basically fall into the Wings as a gift As far as Blashill I wanted him to learn as an assitant coach from someone with experience because as guys like Bednar, the former Oilers coach have proven being succesful in the AHL means nothing in the NHL.
  18. See I just took your argument the same way. Where did I say I want to trade every veteran? I would keep Up and Kronner on LTIR, leak that Green is available, sign 1 year veteran contracts and flip them for picks and like you give the kids a chance. it's important to see who could be part of the future. I'm not saying tanking guarantees anything but when drafts have almost guaranteed future studs it's worth it to play the kids and be bad while the learns. I'm even at the point where I don't get mad anymore at some pressers because I know what's going to come but this doesn't mean that I don't want to see a real rebuild does it guarantee anything? no but I'd rather take my chances with some can't miss prospects than hoping some support players turn out better than expected that's all I'm saying. I mean it wouldn't have hurt to call up some Griffin's for the last games, lose and increase the chances at Patrick. I agree Patrick, Trouba would go a long way

    Kings fire Sutter & Lombardi

Maybe the LA fanbase just wants different voices, ideas running the Kings I don't know. I've tried hard to find a Kings Podcast but couldn't. Changing GMs seems to be a very good idea, Holland knows better than anyone how to keep a team together and even figure out ways to add depth but he has zero rebuild experience which Lombardi does. Maybe both fanbases would be happy with that. I know I would be
  20. Who said fired? He should have moved up a long time ago so the captain could take over. You brought up the argument with the picks the Kings received, well the Wings could have done the same thing but they didn't it's their fault and not the Kings. So hardly an emotional argument it's a fact. Of course replacing Lombardi with Blake is a huge risk and I think the Kings will regret this decision because Lombardi is easily a top 4 GM in the game. Other than Bowman, Stevie and Poile there really isn't anyone better.
  21. So Kliq how is your keep the streak alive at all costs strategy working? Florida, Arizona and Colorado are internal budget teams and if Sakic moves one of the big 3 for a top pairing defenseman plus lands Suter or Gallant the Avalanche could be back very soon. I would easily change this roster for Buffalo's. You really seem to think keeping the status quo and hoping to strike gold is going to guarantee success. Well newsflash each time is scouring the top European leagues now so no more hiding top players in the later rounds.
  22. Sure let's prolong the rebuild even further. Like I said if this season doesn't tell even the most rose colored glasses wearing people what needs to happen nothing will. Bolded part doesn't make things different because Wings could have done the same and the would have some young studs in the lineup right now. See and this is why missing out on Lombardi could backfire there won't be a better GM available anytime soon if Yzerman decides to sign an extension in Tampa. Lombardi has gone through a rebuild and succesfully finished it of with 2 stanley cups. We well see if Chris is pulling a PR stunt or not maybe it's a show me year for almost everyone in the organization and if it doesn't work out, he will go full Shanahan. I just hope Chris will veto any longterm contracts to veterans. The wings need to sign guys to year contracts and PTOS and then flip them for picks at the trade dead line.

    Jacob Trouba

If people think the Wings could get Trouba for peanuts they are in for a huge surprise. If all it would take is AA + a first I'd do it as I would have done Larkin for Trouba straight up because Trouba instantly becomes the Wings best young player and he also fixes the most needed position which is defense. He has good size, is a Michigan boy and brings some much needed experience at his young age. Everyone knows he is not going to sign an extension with the Jets. I could see Trouba - Dekeyser working very well together.
  24. Well he has his taxpayers financed arena, full of LC promotion and another team paying to play in a hockey barn. So money won't be an issue for him and his family for decades. One can just hope it's lip service and he will go all in on Stevie because by the time Chris realizes that Lombardi was available he'll be the GM of another team. Oh well at least now I know it's clear that next season will be the same s*** as the last few years, so lot's of games to fall asleep and no stars, superstars coming to the rescue.
  25. Franchise 1: 2 cups in 5 years Franchise 2: zero cups, basically first round exit bound One fires their coach and GM and the other one is happy with status quo, go figure. Oh well if Chris doesn't bring in in Stevie next year it will be clear that he doesn't have the same drive for excellence like his dad did.
