I'm all for being a fan......and trust me, I've been watching Red Wing hockey for more years than I care to admit......but there is pride and then false pride. Sometimes the rose colored glasses cloud the judgement. Just because you love your team, it doesn't make you a better, more educated fan. All the cheering and rooting in the world couldn't help them beat Nashville.....they lost to a better team.....they didn't get screwed by the officials, they didn't lose because they didn't play to their potential.....THEY LOST TO A BETTER TEAM. Try and say it a few times......its soothing. The truth shall set you free.

On a side not.......if I were him, I'd retire.....has anyone ever seen his wife? My son played against his son last fall......and that was the highlight of those 2 games....checking out Homers wife! Tall, leggy redhead....very nice! Lol!

If they need defense so badly.....why the hell would they want Quincey? He was by far our worse defenseman in the playoffs......nobody in their right mind is giving us a second round pick for him.

I realize its not just Wings fans....I'm sure Leafs fans and others are just as bad.....but I live here, have all my life.....and listening to talk radio and reading the boards after a loss....there is never a time when the officials AREN'T called into question at some point. Its comical. Its very rare when you hear a rational fan say "we just got beat by a better team"

Do I doubt the league wants to market Crosby like they did Gretzky.....no, not at all, but do I think they would try and alter the outcome of games (specifically games against the Wings as most here believe) to do it.....no I don't. Let me guess.....all those years ago, the NHL sent in some undercover agents that told Probert and the boys "cmon over to this little bar, its called Goose Loonies, we'll buy you boys a round or two" just so they could ensure another Cup for Gretzky and company? I'm constantly disgusted with how some Wings fans will create conspiracy theories that the officials are out to get us.....when in reality, we just aren't talented enough to advance. They remind me of U of M fans that think Michigan never loses....they just run out of time, or get screwed by the officials.

You need to check your facts. The league has seen increased revenue in each of the years following the lockout, some teams recording franchise record revenues. I may agree that there is an issue with safety and what the league considers dirty or otherwise......but honestly, can we stop with the Penguins consiracy theories, or the conspiracies that the the league has it out for the Wings........the league earns far more money when the Wings are successful and thriving.....why would they want them out? The fascination with the Penguins is absurd......they don't even play in our conference for christs sake.....why the obsession?

We covered this a page back.....my choice of words was wrong. The thing I found funny was at this time yesterday....80-90% of the people here were calling a Wings blowout last night and talking about how much better we are then them......then I wake up this morning and the entire first page is filled with threads calling for Babcock to be fired, Holland to be fired, cut half the team, Jimmy Howard sucks! I've seen this coming for 3 years.....and I'm not tooting my own horn by any means.....my hope was they would add pieces here and there....they haven't, and there is not much infusion of young talent either......and what it adds up to is a franchise that suddenly looks very frail and weak.

Would I love to see it....sure, who wouldn't?? Do I think we'll see it? Slim to none.

I guess we see it differently. Other than quite a few blocks, I've been pretty happy with the puck movement and shot selection on the powerplay. What you didn't mention is how important it is to get traffic and crash the net on the powerplay......two things this team doesn't do well and that again all goes back to the fact that this is perimeter team.......kinda like that old guard in the NBA who doesn't want to drive the lane anymore.....he just wants to shoot jumpers.

My point was this......Nashvilles power play has been worse than ours, and so has their penalty kill....yet they lead the series 3-1. They have killed us 5 on 5 and I think that is a damning stat. I must have counted 6-8 soft dumps at the net last night that Rinne just gloved off without so much as a red jersey in sight.....that tells me this team is either not capable of crashing the net, or not willing......either way, its an issue. I am a lifelong Wings fan.....and I still cheer for them every game....but the time has come to start rebuilding the dam. We are the oldest team in the NHL.....I think we have crossed that line from experienced to just plain old. I'm all for a youth movement.....might have to sacrifice the now for brighter days in the future.

Ummmm.......don't the Wings have 5 Power play goals in this series? I know its at least 4.......and they are being outscored 9-4 5 on 5 in the series.

Bad choice of words......what I meant was flip flopping. The longer we continue with the thought that we are one or two players away, the longer we are delaying what in my opinion is inevitable.

I've never seen such an overreaction in my life. 12 hours ago we were gonna "smoke those fools from Nashville" and everyone was calling for a blowout. Now we're too old and too slow and not "gritty" enough to compete? News flash.....we were too old, not fast enough and not gritty enough in each of the past 3 seasons.....and waiving pixie dust and hoping a Parise falls in our lap isn't the answer. This team has to start making the tough decisions. Saying goodbye to Homer and Brad Stuart to make way for a Nyquist and Brendan Smith....in a word :Rebuild: and the fallout is gonna be first round playoff exits or perhaps not making the playoffs at all.......that is the reality of it. This team has given us a great run.....tip your hats to them, pat them on the back and say good job and start rebuilding.

The Preds board is totally NOT civil. I went in there to gain an opposing fans viewpoint......and I jokingly made my screen name "wingstroll2" because in a thread they were upset because "there was only 1 wings troll in the thread" Well....it started civil enough....but once I made a comment about how Barry Trotz was "Not a handsome man" all of a sudden, here comes the "Detroit is a crap hole" "your city is full of crackheads and rapists" and then they went to the "your a troll" card. Funny thing.....I was the one keeping threads on topic....go figure. Needless to say....I schooled one of their "big dogs" and they didn't like that.....so after a few conversations via PM with one of the mods.....who I accused of censorship, they banned me. Lol! Their fine as long as you agree with the establishment......if you swim upstream, you're a troll and they censor you.

The way Rinne is playing, I think a "shelling" isn't likely, but a few goals through some heavy traffic (provided we aren't whistled for it) might be just enough to send Trotz through the roof and rattle the Preds a bit. I never make predictions........but I'll take an ugly win tonight.

I think its important to harness the momentum of the crowd early on......stay out of the box and feed off the energy of the home fans. My wish list for the first 5 minutes......a huge hit by Kronner on Mike Fischer.....he's been a bit of a punk in this series....would love to see him "Kronwalled" early on. I'm hoping the breaks go our way tonight.....get traffic in front of Rinne early.....and we have to.....I mean HAVE TO be better on faceoffs tonight.
