    Zach Parise

Saw this on twitter via one of my followers. My link Lou Nanne is reporting on a conversation he had with Minnesota Wild owner Craig Leipold regarding Zach Parise. Skip to about the 22 minute mark of the podcast to hear the important parts. If this is true, it could be bad news for Red Wings fans. EDIT: Skip to the 25 minute mark.

Holland losing his moxie? Is Detroit slipping as UFA destination?

My point exactly. I want to see how he does post Lidstrom and without a good defense in front of him. He's proven he can be steady when he's got the best defenseman in the game in front of him but lets be honest what goaltender wouldn't look better with Lidstrom on the team. Not to mention Stuart who is much better than Kronwall in my opinion. I don't expect Howard will be awful, but I'm guessing his numbers will drop.

Holland losing his moxie? Is Detroit slipping as UFA destination?

So you basically just showed via stats that Backstrom = Howard. Howard had the same numbers on a far superior team and Backstrom isn't even that good. What does that say about Howard supposedly being "elite".

Holland losing his moxie? Is Detroit slipping as UFA destination?

I'm not saying Howard isn't a good goaltender... But he's not elite status like Lundqvist, Quick or anyone else in that upper echelon of tendys. His career goals against is around 2.5 I believe. Not bad but during a regular NHL season that's about average. He's a good, solid goalie but he's being revered as one of the best in the league when really his numbers show he isn't deserving. If he has a season this year where he lowers his GAA and raises his S% a little bit, with 30+ wins.. Then we can start talking about putting him in the category of elite. As of right now, he's just above average for me. This year is going to be a tough test for him with a very suspect defense in front of him.

Holland losing his moxie? Is Detroit slipping as UFA destination?

Howard? Overrated. Let's see how he does with a porous defense where he might actually face a few shots. Kronwall? Second pairing defenseman on a good team. Filppula? Third liner. Guess how many times he's scored over 40 points? Once, last year. He has one good year and suddenly he's top 6 material? I don't think so. Hudler? He's another third liner. Top 6 if he's playing with a good center maybe. Doesn't matter though, he walked. Quincey? He's never scored more than 38 points in a season and has been a plus player only one time. He's a second or third pairing guy. I think you're reaching A LOT here. None of these players are elite. Howard is the closest thing to it and even he can be pretty suspect at times.

Holland losing his moxie? Is Detroit slipping as UFA destination?

Based on that list, you'll have a lot of overrated, average and bottom six NHL'ers in a few years! I'm not sure that's the plan you wanna have.

Semin signs one year, $7m deal with Carolina

So what's left for Detroit? Doan and a possible trade for Ryan? It's interesting that Semin didn't sign with the Red Wings. Either Detroit didn't offer him a contract good enough or he didn't want to play in Detroit. I can't imagine why Holland wouldn't extend a one year offer Semin's way. There's ample cap space and virtually no way to spend it now. What would have been the harm in signing a former 40 goal scored to a 1 year deal worth $7 Mil? If he tanks, so what? You lose the money that was going to go unspent? Big deal. Low risk, high reward situation. I'm surprised this didn't get done.

How bad are we if our roster is now finalized?

Trying to get through to these homers is like a one legged man trying to win an ass kicking contest. It's not going to happen. It's funny though, the hypocrisy . Very good. You found one little known page written by one guy who may or may not know a damn thing about hockey. Again, you use an article from the VERY SAME website I posted from (hockeysfuture) only the one you're trying pawn off as "old" is actually newer than the one YOU posted. Here's yours: http://www.hockeysfuture.com/team-rankings/ As you can see at the top of the page, it is PRESEASON 2011-2012. Here's mine: http://www.hockeysfuture.com/articles/72103/hockeys-future-organizational-rankings-spring-2012-1-10/ SPRING 2012 buddy. Last time I checked, that is later than fall 2011. I like how you just ignore all arguments and then continue to post the same things over and over again. It's tiresome. I've read all your old opinions. You've yet to ACTUALLY discredit any of my arguments. "Suter would have signed with the Wings if Zach didn't sign with Minnesota" Oh yeah? Where's the quote? Where's the source? Where is any shred of evidence other than you flapping your gums? It's annoying. If you're going to post like everything you say is absolute fact, then you should probably back it up with viable evidence. In the end though, it's a moot point. Zach Parise and Ryan Suter will be lacing up at the X next season and not at the Joe. You didn't get them and now you're in a hole. If you think that you have a playoff caliber team right now then please, explain. If you want to keep posting about random things that you cannot support, have fun with that. They would have said the same thing in another city? Maybe. But they are saying it in Minnesota, so I guess you'll never know. NEXT. Oh the NHL teams should switch their development teams to Finnish pro teams? Yeah, that makes sense. That way when they need them it's just a quick flight to... Oh wait, it's not. The reason for the AHL being the minor league of the NHL is because of proximity. If teams need a guy, they can get him in a few hours. It's not because a league full of career AHL'ers and 19 year old kids is a super strong league. Here's a little tidbit on how leagues around the world are ranked: The NHL and IIHF both rank the various leagues in the world, and give them rankings. In both systems, the NHL is considered the best league and is scored as a "100" NHL Central Scouting (as of February 1st) National Hockey League 100 Elitsarien (Sweden) 89 Kontinental Hockey League (Russia) 87 SM-Liiga (Finland) 83 Czech Republic League (Czech Republic) 81 Slovakioan Extraliga (Slovakia) 74 Switzerland 72 Deutsche Eishockey League 70 The American Hockey League has a ranking of 57 The International Ice Hockey Federation's rankings (as of December 1, 2009) National Hockey League 100 Elitsarien (Sweden) 91 Kontinental Hockey League (Russia) 87 Czech Republic League (Czech Republic) 84 SM-Liiga (Finland) 82 Slovakian Extraliga (Slovakia) 76 Switzerland 73 Deutsche Eishockey League 71 The IIHF ranks the AHL as a 61, and ranks the Czech league ahead of the Finnish league. No AHL team has beaten a fully staffed NHL team since the 1960s, however several teams from all European leagues have beaten fully staffed NHL and AHL teams over the past 36 years. Now, on to your other "topics". So, the Red Wings (an established franchise for quite some time now) is better than an expansion franchise the last 12 years? You don't say... Wow, you guys must be really good. That's impressive 0.o Kronwall is as good as Suter? That explains how Suter outscored him the past 3 seasons WITHOUT Lidstrom on his team. Better at hitting and yet even Mikko Koivu was able to flatten him out. NEXT! What's that? Holland spoke with Schultz? So did Fletcher. The difference is, Holland wasn't even allowed in to see Schultz while Fletcher was. Detroit is losing it's twinkle my friend. Oh Parise isn't worth that kind of money? Funny, on your "ideal roster" that used to be your sig.. You had both him AND Suter making $7.5AAV for the Wings. What are they making in Minnesota... $7.5AAV!!! NEXT Datsyuk is Parise's favorite player? Parise admires the Wings organization? Oh, well then he should be playing there, right? Especially since Suter was "quoted" as saying he was going to sign in Detroit. Yes. Tatar, a .72 PPG player is a god in the AHL. He's clearly knocking everyone right out of their socks with his immense talent. I already proved above that the AHL is not even in the same sentence as leagues like Elitsarian, the KHL or SM-Liiga... But I suppose you'll probably ignore that too. Nope, because I already admitted that it played a roll.

How bad are we if our roster is now finalized?

Well at least I make actual arguments and present actual evidence, you? I still don't understand how you think your prospects are better. Here's the link..again.. http://www.hockeysfuture.com/articles/72103/hockeys-future-organizational-rankings-spring-2012-1-10 2. Minnesota ...... 10. Detroit That does not mean your prospects are better. 2. comes before 10 on the number line bud. As for Tatar, again.. You just made the same argument but instead of using just last years numbers you used all 3 years. So.. 147points in 204 games = 147/204 So he's ACTUALLY a .72 PPG player.. My bad, I overestimated him. Granlund.. 3 years for IFK would be 127pts. in 119games so... 1.1PPG.. Still a point per game players in a league where he facing 26, 27 even 28 year old men. Some even older. Not to mention the league is defensive minded and yes, superior competition then the AHL. It's a professional league and has been called by many the 2nd or 3rd best league in the world behind the NHL. AHL isn't even top 5. If that's not enough for you, Granlund is also a more than a point per game player internationally. He's won 2 bronze medals as captain of the junior Finnish national team and a gold as the assistant captain on the Finnish World championship team, again... A MEN'S tournament. So no, I don't see how any of those prospects you have listed can even hold a candle to Granlund. Nyquist is the only one I would even let on the ice with Granlund. Also, the only way your argument would hold water is if either of them were asked directly about the Wild's roster. They weren't. You clearly didn't even watch the press conference. They were asked "why Minnesota" basically. They said a few things. One was family as you already mentioned. They also mentioned that they think the Wild have the best prospects in the league. Parise actually said in an interview that he knows not all young players pan out but that he knows the importance of prospects. Fact of the matter is, they are the only way to build a successful team for the long term in the cap era. That's what the Wild have done and continue to do as they draft extremely well. They also mentioned that money had nothing to do with it because at a certain point, it doesn't matter how much you have you're going to be set for life. Both of them mentioned the chance to play together really interested them and the final reason they stated? The solid roster Minnesota already had. They both know where the Wild were through the 1st half of the year (on top of the NW Division). They volunteered their affection for the players already on the roster without being directly asked about it. Parise even said he would LOVE to play with Mikko Koivu because he thinks they play a similar game and that Mikko is one of the most underrated players in the league. Bottom line is Holland low balled them and didn't have enough appeal to even be in the final few teams for Parise. Again, they couldn't even get in to speak with Schultz while the Wild could. I won't even respond to the North Stars bit because you're obviously just trying to troll and I feel bad for you. You can rest on your laurels all you want and say how much greater you are than a franchise that's 12 years old and pat yourself on the back for that.. But the fact remains that your two best players are past their primes, your best player and Captain just retired, your GM hasn't done anything to improve the franchise and your relying on Niklas Kronwall to apparently be your best defenseman.. Good luck with all that.

How bad are we if our roster is now finalized?

Yes, you're correct. If all of Minnesota's prospects and top players have their legs and arms cut off in 3 years, then it will start all over again. Otherwise, I fail to see how a team with a strong core, top prospects and plenty of future cap space will be rebuilding in 3 years. Ooooo, this is gonna be fun.. Let's see.. Tomas Tatar.. 24 goals and 33 assists for a total of 57 points in 70 AHL games. Mikael Granlund.. 20 goals and 31 assists in 45 games in a superior and defensive minded league. That gives Tatar a .81 point per game average. Granlund meanwhile has a 1.14 point per game average in a league where he's playing with men years older than him. So please, tell me more about how a prospect who's playing against career AHL'ers and other players his same age and even younger with WORSE overall stats is even in the same stratosphere as Mikael Granlund. Haha, Kyperos.. There's a solid source. He was also the one that broke the news that Parise had agreed to terms with Pittsburgh and that Schultz was going to choose Vancouver. The funny thing is, the quote from Lou that you put up shows that Detroit wasn't even on his mind. That's how little appeal the Wings have right now. No doubt, this was a move made by BOTH of these guys with family strongly considered. But it wasn't THE reason, as you'd like to believe. Here... http://www.sacbee.com/2012/07/09/4619808/parise-suter-introduced-by-wild.html There Parise talks about Mikko Koivu and how he loves the roster in Minnesota. http://video.wild.nhl.com/videocenter/console?catid=849&id=183826&cmpid=embed-share-video&navid=DL|MIN|home Here's the link for the presser today where they BOTH talk about Minnesota's roster and the great young players they have coming up. I know you're a desperate fan just trying to cling to anything that says the Wings are still a top team, but with the proper support groups.. You can get through it. You can get past the entitlement, the arrogance, the ignorance... It can all go away. The first step is admitting you have a problem.
  11. centcougar07

How bad are we if our roster is now finalized?

Then if I were you, I'd stay FAR away from Las Vegas haha Well anyway.. For everyone's convenience, I bolded, italicized and increased font size of every statement in this reply that is a lie, based on facts. You can feel free to try and come up with a link for this stuff, but you will never find it because, well... It was never said or never happened or is just a straight up lie. You're making it too easy for me son.
  12. centcougar07

How bad are we if our roster is now finalized?

Nyquist is a good prospect, but a second liner at his very best. Mursak and Tatar aren't even fit to sharpen Granlund's skates, ask any pro scout. Nobody has a crystal ball. But everyone with an iota of experience dealing with hockey players and specifically prospects will tell you that the Wild have probably the single best prospect pool in all the NHL. Detroit? Middle of the road. And a large part of that rating is due to the history of having good prospects I'm sure. It's funny you would mention your little "3 year window theory" again. I already discredited you in the last thread you posted that in. Given that you have no knowledge of the Minnesota Wild organization, it was not a difficult task either. And yet, they are expendable in order to get one player nearly past his prime like Nash. But yeah, they are super good.
  13. centcougar07

How bad are we if our roster is now finalized?

Yeah, and I COULD titty f*** the s*** out of Kate Upton tomorrow, but I doubt it'll happen. Except the L.A. Kings were way more skilled, way younger and way bigger than the Red Wings. No Kidding. Couldn't even get in the room to talk to Justin Schultz Overpaying? At $7.5 Million each? They were getting $110 Million dollar offers elsewhere. I call that a pretty damn good deal especially when they are far and away the top 2 guys in the free agent market.
  14. centcougar07

How bad are we if our roster is now finalized?

Lol.. Might win the Presidents trophy and the cup next year eh? Yes, I can see it now. Lose Lidstrom and Stuart and add nobody on the back end. Damien Brunner is the biggest signing of the year... So I have only one thing to say to that. In the words of Emilio Estevez when he played Billy the Kid in Young Guns.. "I wouldn't give a bucket of piss for your future." P.S. Holland better get on his horse and start making some improvements on this roster or you guys are going to be Royally Fuc*ked
  15. centcougar07

How bad are we if our roster is now finalized?

2nd line looks better than the first lol
  16. centcougar07

    Buck Wild?

$19Million coming off the books next year. $36Million in cap space the following year and $54Million the year after that. Even if Heatley is resigned, which is a big if, it'll be at a discounted price. There's no way he's going to be making more than Parise and Suter. If he wants to stay, he'll need to take a big discount. The prospects' contracts are going to be staggered. They only start one the player has over 9 NHL games under his belt. 2 or 3 prospects might make the roster this fall. 3 or 4 the following year and the last few the year after that. They are going to be RFA's in separate years, which is going to make it really easy for Chuck to resign them. There will be plenty of space to resign all the prospects after their entry level deals are done. No worries at all.
  17. centcougar07

    Buck Wild?

Well the list of times you have been right is certainly not long or distinguished, especially when it comes to the Wild lol But let me ask you this? What if Holland gets nobody? What if Doan and Ryan don't end up in Detroit? What if he only signs mediocre bottom line/bottom pairing type players? That roster would look pretty pathetic if you ask me with the only notable acquisition being that of Jordin Tootoo. Or conversely, what if he DOES get Doan and trade for Ryan? You're getting a guy who is turning 36 soon and who hasn't topped 60 points since 2008. He's a leader, sure. But not the answer offensively. Ryan would be a considerably better option. He's pretty much a lock for 30 goals and 60-75 points. That would really help, no doubt, but what are you going to have to give up to get him? Letting go of Bobby Ryan would blow a hole through Anaheim's already abysmal roster and they won't give him away. They hold all the cards on him. He still has a few years left on his deal so if the Ducks don't like the packages they are offered for him then they can just hold on to him and he can either play or rot on the bench if he refuses. Point is, the Ducks are going to need A LOT in return. 2 NHL players, 2 prospects and a pick will likely be the demand. At least something like that. So the Red Wings would need to give up probably Filpula and Abdelkader along with a couple of top prospects. The Ducks just lost Schultz to Edm. so they would probably need Smith to be included and then they would also ask for either Nyquist, or any two of Tatar, Jarkrok, Jurco, or Pulkkinen. Plus a high pick, probably a second rounder. Obviously that is a lot but you can bet your ass that Anaheim won't do any deal for Ryan where they don't make out like bandits because, like I said, they hold all the cards and are in a sort of rebuild. I fail to see how a deal anything like what I mentioned would benefit the Red Wings.

    Zach Parise

    1. Suter never said that. I challenge you to find that quote from him. 2. Apparently Parise and Suter don't agree with you! Sure, family was a big part of it. They both liked the idea of playing at home close to their family. At the end of the day, 2 premier players in the NHL decided to sign for the rest of their careers for less money they got from other offers and they didn't do so entirely because of family or money. They did it because they like the long term outlook of Minnesota starting now. It's not like these are 4 year deals where they aren't showing any commitment. 3. How do the Wild have a three year window? If anything, id say the window hasn't even opened yet. I think they are a playoff team but not a cup team right now. However, in a year or two, the Wild are going to be scary good. Mikael Granlund, Charlie Coyle, Jonas Brodin, Matt Dumba, Matt Hackett, Marco Scandella, all blue chip prospects. Then there's guys like Jason Zucker, Johan Larsson, Zach Phillips, Mario Lucia, Erik Haula, Brett Bulmer, Justin Fontaine, Tyler Cuma, Darcy Kuemper, Johan Gustaffson.... All these guys have very high potential and can at least be roll players in the NHL. Now there may be a few who never pan out, everybody knows that sometimes that happens. But there's no way that the Wild have a "3 year window to win". It's a safe bet to say anyone who says that is either ignorant, stupid or uneducated. Or, in your case, a desperate Wings fan trying his best to discount reality and put off the inevitable. I feel for you, I really do. 4. Yes, except I was the one who was right. And 'against all odds' according to pretty much everyone INCLUDING Wild fans. 5. Wrong again. You don't sign a 13 year contract with a full NMC because you think you can't win there. 6. Ha, well the Wild are a playoff team now, that's almost a given. And with how even the league is these days, all you have to do is get in to the playoffs and you can win it all. Not saying it will happen, not by a long shot, but they WILL be a playoff team, that's my next prediction. And once they get there, who knows what can happen. I personally hope we play the Red Wings because then we'll be guaranteed at LEAST one series victory. Kidding of course, but I DO hope we meet up in the playoffs.

Evander Kane is a Better Option than Zach Parise

I'm sorry I just have to lol at the fact that people are saying that Parise is getting absurdly overpaid. A month ago, people were making capgeek rosters with Parise and Suter both making $7.5 or above and now they are getting $7.54 AAV and it's overpayment?
  20. centcougar07

    Zach Parise

I'm right here bud, come at me! Everybody doubted that this would happen. Now all of a sudden the Wild's roster looks a LOT better than the Wings roster. I have to say, I told you so. Going to be interesting to see how this year shakes down and how the Wings find answers for their many questions.
  21. centcougar07

Zach Parise agrees to 13-year, $98-mil deal with Wild

Lol. They got outbid by Minnesota.. By $8Million dollars over 13 years. That's $600K a year. Pretty minuscule when you're talking about guys making Millions and Millions of dollars a year. If Detroit was really such a great destination and such a powerhouse, they would be with Detroit now and not Minnesota. It had nothing to do with money. The Wild actually have 4-5Mill in cap remaining and 19Mill coming off the books next year to go after another FA by the name of Shea Weber. But hey, at least you got Tootoo right? Lol
  22. centcougar07

Has the Detroit diamond lost it's shine?

As has always been true with the Red Wings, the support for this team is a mile wide and an inch thick, now that the decline has begun, the bandwagon is is getting a whole lot lighter.
  23. centcougar07

Zach Parise agrees to 13-year, $98-mil deal with Wild

Sour grapes guys, sour grapes. Don't worry, we'll take it easy on you this season
  24. centcougar07

Zach Parise agrees to 13-year, $98-mil deal with Wild

Trolololololol I tried to warn you guys! $7.5 mil cap hits?? Fletcher is af****** god. They both had higher offers with other teams and STILL chose Minnesota.
  25. centcougar07

    Zach Parise

I'm not sure you understand the meaning of perennial contender which is what the Wings are. Re-tooling and being competitive EVERY year is a lot more effective than tanking for numerous years in order to stock draft picks for one eventual cup run, and win or lose, YOUR picks will want to head to a team like OURS to try to win a cup EVERY year that they play for the team. NHL13 has a special stanley cup edition with the winner of the cup for the past 22 years in it....in those past 22 years, the Wings have 4 stanley cup championships, pens and devils 3, wild = 0. There's your recipe for success junior. Watch hockey for a few more years and take notes. Some of us have been around for a lot longer and know a little more about the game and how the systems work. Enjoy the Minnesota Wild Fan Board. Later. Go back to NHL 13 then. This is real life. You don't just "retool" and "reload" like it's nothing in real life. You think Detroit management ever thought Datsyuk and Zetterberg would end up being the stars they are? You're fooling yourself if you think the answer is yes. Without any stars waiting to crack the NHL roster you can be assured that the future in Detroit is VERY uncertain.
