No worries if you can't vote, and please don't try to circumvent their rules. Wings fans have come together to support my GDT and its currently in a healthy lead. Thanks to everyone here for voting and for the kind words.
-
You can try voting, it might be 45 days or 45 posts. I can't remember exactly.
-
Unfortunately once its activated you need to have 45 posts and 45 days of membership before you can vote in polls.
-
Unfortunately spam voting doesn't work, unlike TSN's play of the year voting you can only vote once in this competition. We've already proven in the TSN play of the year competitions that as a fan base if you allow us to vote multiple times we are unstoppable.

This is the GDT I need votes for.

Forget Cleary, I guess we have a new 3rd Amigo -
A lot of the same things were said about Jurco after his first year in the AHL. Lets hope Frk can turn it around like he did.
-
The kids are allright, but lets not kid ourselves...Ehrhoff and Boyle are better. I just hope Boyle doesn't get more than 2 years. Ehrhoff I don't care what the term is.
-
Personally I find it far more impressive to not have to sell off guys at bargain prices, that you signed in the first place just to free up cash to do it all over again with different guys. Probably making a push for Boyle and Iginla.
-
As much as people like to complain about Franzen's recapture #'s Ehrhoffs were way worse. If he retired instead of playing the last year of his contract it would cost his new team nothing but the Sabres would lose a whopping 10 Million from their cap.
-
I like Ehrhoff but I don't think he fits in as well as either Niskanen, Myers or Boyle all of whom are right handed. Although my feelings toward adding another lefty would change if we could offload a lefty or 2. Especially if we could offload them in a package for someone like Myers or another suitable middle pairing right hander. I do like Ehrhoff better than any of the other lefties considered as at least he plays on the right side more often than not.

Here are a few scouting reports on Larkin. I wasn't thrilled with the pick at first as I was a big fan of Fabbri's but the more I read about Larkin the more I like him and the more I think we made the best possible pick at 15. As far as comparable's the only site that made one compared him style wise to Patrice Bergeron. Last Word on Sports Scouting Report Here is a quote from scout Mark Edwards of (HockeyProspects.com) on Larkin Anthony Mauro on the VO2 Max tests from the combine

Its a little different this year when the cap ended up being more than 5 million dollars less than what was expected last off-season. Chicago is already over the cap and Free Agency hasn't hit, Boston has less than 2 million to sign a bunch of guys. All these teams will be able to get under the cap again but there are going to be some good players available to teams that have cap space.
-
Boston too. They have 1.67 million left in space with Krug, Reilly Smith, Iginla, and a bunch of others left to sign.

A lot of the things being said about Myers were also said about Zdeno Chara 3 years into his career. He was a freakishly tall guy who needed to fill out to match his height. He had a pretty good rookie season then struggled mightily for the next couple of years before falling out of favor with the Islanders. It was once he got traded to a good team in Ottawa that he finally filled out and started to become the defenceman he is today. Now Myers is highly unlikely to follow that same path, and doesn't really play the same style of game as Chara but you can't teach 6'8. If he fills out and develops his defensive game, that combined with his height, reach and skating ability will make him a Norris Trophy candidate. If we can get him its worth moving out one of the gluttony of left handed defenceman we have and possibly a forward and pick. He's only 24 years old, honestly I like the idea of getting him over Edler, OEL, Boyle, or anyone else we've been linked to for the past few seasons.

Apparently the Cory Schneider deal was completed the day before the draft last year but the league wanted to announce it at the draft. It makes sense, they can get better TV ratings by having the draft include lots of player movement.
-
There is also an Eklund rumor that some deals have already been completed today but the NHL doesn't want them announced till tomorrow. Its Eklund though so their probably false.

I've heard them say that they were the only teams interested in Kesler from his list of 6 teams, and that they were the only ones in discussions with the Canucks. Until today that is when a 3rd team entered the mix along with several others that were trying to convince Kesler to add them to their list. (Rumors are Detroit is the new entrant that is on his list and Florida for the 1st round pick is the team trying to convince him to add them).
-
Source on that? The only thing I've seen reported is his list of 6 teams he'd accept a deal to, one of which was Detroit.

Teams to be compensated for losing personnel to other teams

It would have been great for us about 2 or 3 years ago..who do we have left for other teams to poach? -
I think this is common every year but this year there is that new window where GM's can talk to opposing teams agents/players and its a lot easier for reporters to find out who is talking to who.
-
There are probably already some of those around! Weiss has a NMC and would have to approve any deal.
-
The reports came from Dreger and others on twitter, and they do not list any of the teams involved other than a mysterious new team in the mix. Dreger says things are heating up on Kesler and he expects him to be moved in the next 24 hours. I made sure to not say the reports listed the Wings or anyone else as being the destination. The rumors of Detroit being that team and the potential return indeed did come from HFboards which is why I listed them as only rumors. Sorry if it caused confusion I was trying to be clear that the part about us being involved was pure speculation but that its extremely likely Kesler moves somewhere at or before the draft.
-
There are reports coming out that Kesler is likely to be traded in the next 24 hours. The most likely landing spot according to the rumors is Detroit. Canucks fans seem to think it will be Tatar and our 1st rounder going to Vancouver.

He did sign 2 of the biggest Free Agents available last off season.
