A lot of people proposing we trade for guys or sign shattenkirk or blah blah blah. Some of these scenarios are nice in theory but it only gets us back to where we were at the end of our streak. We need to be patient until we get some legit talent. Seider may be just that we wont know for a couple years. But we cant be trying to rush something just for the sake of an 8th seed first round exit.

More talent, defense. We aren't a contender right now. We need to build properly over the next 2 years. Not trade the few assets 2e have and create a new hole

Omg the whining on here from veteran posters everytime some team gets a player is out of hand. Quit crying, if you cant tell yet yzerman doesnt plan for us to be good for 2 years. He signed all 1 and 2 year garbage players. Then most bad contracts will be off the books except dekeyser, nielson, and abby. Dont expect any big trades or free agents. We have to wait for contracts to expire and in the meantime we will tank for some top picks. 2 years from now we will have the makings of a potential dynasty. But hey we didnt get a guy who's never played an nhl game before.

Everything is 1-2 year bridge deals. Yzerman is planning a massive overhaul, but needs 2 years for bad contracts to expire. And then we will have some legit prospects, tons of cap room, and all kinds of spots for young guys and anyone we trade for. Be excited folks this may take time, but it's about to get exciting! And he doesnt compare many to Lando, take Carl's word for it, this guy is legit.

Doesnt matter. Stevie has big plans. Hes not signing anyone past 2 years when a large majority of contracts are up. Hes planning a proper overhaul. Were going to be a dynasty again. All the anti yzerman people are going to choke on their words...

Remains to be seen. I still havent seen anyone available to us in the 2017 draft that was really above anyone we picked... yes most organizations havent cut ties with half the guys they drafted that year... yet. But they will be lucky if 1 guy pans out for them.

I'm just wondering what you would have done differently. Considering 2017 was one of the worst drafts in recent memory, I dont think it was a "good" draft, I just dont believe we could have done much better. There's bound to be hiccups in every rebuild, and you criticizing Holland for not getting better players when none were available is just crazy to me.

So basically it was a disaster according to you but no one in the 1st 2nd 3rd etc.. rounds available to us has fared any better. But we failed somehow even though it was an awful draft class all around. Sure maybe 1 or 2 gems may emerge from that draft but it didnt matter who we took. No one has fared better in that draft.

Ok. So we still have a handful of guys that could be impact players from that draft? So it's not yet a bust. But you havent told me who they should have drafted instead. It was a weak class and we knew it going in to begin with. But please let us know all the gems we missed.
