    Wings Interested In Resigning Green

I'm only against re-signing Green if we can get Karlsson though. But as this is as likley as us winning our division this season, I agree. Green is our best defenseman by far, of course we should resign him. I just hope Kenny has learned from his past mistakes and doesn't hand out a long contract. Let's say that this is his first test during rebuild mode.

    Tatar traded to Golden Knights for 2018 1st, 2019 2nd & 2021 3rd

That is a nice haul. We're stacked with picks and have some much needed capspace. Well done indeed, Kenny.

    Good times. LGRW !

11/02 GDT : Detroit Red Wings @ Ottawa Senators : 7:30 PM ET

You got close. Regarding the game: I got the impression, that the Wings were willing to win this but didn't have the ability to pull it off. Wether this is due to bad coaching or overall player quality (probably a combination of both) I don't know. Time to dig in. This is going to be a long season.

Definitely looks like we can take our time with the coronation of our substitute butt patter.

    Coincidence ? I think not.

No doubt. We severely lack butt patting around here.

    10/31 GDT - Coyotes @ Red Wings - 7:30 PM EST

Not impressed at all. Almost giving up a two goal lead against one of the worst, if not the worst team in the NHL is ridiculous. If this team wants to get into the playoffs it has obviously some work to do. And the first thing is probably to get rid of Blashill.

    McCollum back

Probably here : Not sounding like any of the two will get traded.

    2017 Opening Day Roster

Getting back to topic (Thanks for laughs @ChristopherReevesLegs :D): Top 12 : Gustav Nyquist, Andreas Athanasiou, Justin Abdelkader, Luke Glendening, Henrik Zetterberg, Dylan Larkin, Frans Nielsen, Darren Helm, Tomas Tatar, Anthony Mantha, Little Bert, Luke Witkowski Top 6 D (no particular order): Trevor Daley, Mike Green, Nick Jensen, Dan DeKeyser, Niklas Kronwall, Xavier Ouellet Goalies: Jimmy Howard, Petr Mrazek IR: Jonathan Ericsson, Ryan Sproul, Johan Franzen Healthy Scratches: Martin Frk, , Big Dylan, Riley Sheahan With the moves and drafts Holland made I can see him going with the big bodies more this season. It might be a little early for Bertuzzi but he would fit this strategy. So just for the sake of having someone different in the lineup I put him there. I also don't see Coreau up with the Wings, he'll probably tending the goal in GR until Mrazek or Howard are injured or traded.
  13. I mostly agree with your post, but not with this paragraph. As was already mentioned here defenseman have a different life cycle than forwards. For example Sproul is only 24, in two or three years he might be as serviceable as Daley, if not more. We just need to be a little bit more patient.

    McCollum back

Yeah, that was my guess why they signed him. Just for the case Coreau is needed at the big club. Maybe there is even a trade in the making for Howard or Mrazek but after today I highly doubt it. The trade ok with me, we get a veteran AHL backup/fringe starter we know very well for a conditional 7th rounder. It's not like Holland sold the farm for McCollum.

    July 1, 2017 UFA DAY!

He did. Guess it's a replacement for Pattersson whom they didn't resign.
  16. The contract is also reasonable cheap to buy out if we need the spot. The more I read and think about it, the more I like this signing.
  17. Not so sure about his shot, but he is a good passer. He will help our D immensely this season, no doubt about that.

Red Wings sign D Luke Witkowski to 2 year, 750k/yr contract. Will play as F.

Makes sense. Looks like Blash and Kenny think this is an area that is crucial for their system and addressing the lack of it accordingly. In the draft and obviously in FA too. I'm excited to see how it works out.
  19. It's acceptable, if Kronner or any other defenseman isn't going to play for a big chunk of the season. I like his skillset and what I read about his locker room presence. I also don't have a problem with the NTC, it's what you pay for a relatively cheap contract for a 33y old defenseman.

    Off-season moves

To be fair he was injured most of the time there. I know he is far from a sure thing, but sign him for a year on 1-2 mil. and see what happens.

    Off-season moves

The only reason reasons signing a defenseman in our position are a. you want to move Green (at the deadline) b. you want to flip you acquisition (at the deadline). And even in case a. it's a bad idea so sign one. If you're a seller at trade deadline anyway there is no need for another veteran anchoring the D. Only defenseman that would be acceptable to me is Kulikov. 26 years, should be a reasonable offensive D-man but had big injury problems. It would be a high risk high reward move that could pan out like Vanek or could maybe even stay as a bridge gap and a veteran presence once our kids are ready.

    Off-season moves

No, No No No.Don't do it Kenny. We're already logjamed at D, no need for a 33 year old rental.

Todd Nelson to be interviewed by Arizona

Do we get a pick if they hire him ?
