    Abdelkader on unconditional waivers for buyout

    Would that stop us from sending players down or call them up? The AHL still exists, even when they are not playing.

    Abdelkader on unconditional waivers for buyout

    Wings have caps space all the way from Detroit to Europe and the roster spot could have been freed by sending Abby to GR. Honestly I can't see any other reason than making a big move at Krug or other big FAs. Which btw would mean we officially abandon the tank.

    Exactly my thoughts. I hope Stevie is up to something with this.

    Most important night of the season. Thank god it's only randomness we rely upon and not our team.

    2020 Offseason

    Would be great, alone or the entertainment value. But we all know it won't happen since NHL GMs are boring and timid as hell, especially when it comes to offer sheets.

    Howard = Average

    Was Howard a good, above average goaltender ? Yes. But that is not the point. He is old. And that simply makes it very unlikely that he will back to his former self. Could he maybe? Yes, as goaltending is voodoo. But the chances a slim. And we don't have to gamble on them, especially with the alternatives there are on the market. Only thing that is in favor of rehiring Howard is, that we probably won't be a playoff team next season with or without him. So the negative impact of his hiring would be minimal. We could even help the tank with it. But it's not fair hiring a guy with that premise.

    Howard = Average

    It's exactly like the Dan Cleary situation, even worse. Goalies are more important than 4th-line wingers.

    NHL Season officially suspended until further notice - March 12, 2020

    A German expert stated that stadiums here in Europe will probably open not earlier than September. You are one or two weeks behind us. So I think this season is over.

    We have to look at this trough a political lens. The Board of Governors probably will have to approve the steps taken by the league. At least they will have a big influence on the decision. And they will chose the solution that will hurt them the least financially.

    Day 57? I always thought this to be the usual behavior in Seattle.

    Only if you don't consider, that there is a lot of money lost or won for the teams concerning this. If the NHL finds a financial solution for the teams that are on the bubble but out of a playoff spot no owner or GM would probably mind playing the usual format. Otherwise the league has to get creative.

    In order to stay save wash your hands properly! LGW!

    NHL Season officially suspended until further notice - March 12, 2020

    This. They probably rather cancel the playoffs or even the rest of the season entirely, than carry any delay over into the next season.

    DEL already ended their season and canceled their playoffs with no winner. If the NHL closes down I hope they do the same. Handing out the Cup without the playoffs would be strange.

    2020 Offseason

    We need many things to be back into serious business again. For not being as bad as we are we need to anchor our defense. If Danny DeKeyser is your best defenseman you're in big trouble. It's hard to predict who will still be available for us, but we have the capspace and we should make use of it. Second thing we need is a goaltender. I think Howard is done. Maybe he gets back to his old self, but at 36 years that is more unlikely than anything else. I'm still a big proponent of signing Lehner on a 3-4 year deal. Again, we have the capspace and with 29 years he is still in his prime most of the contract. Geogiev is also an option I'd like to see here.

    GDT - Yzermans Ex @ Stevies current trainwreck - 5:00 PM ET

    It's more probable that he scores into our own net the way he played so far.

    And no Vasilevsky and Lightning play back to back. It's not getting any easier.

    2020 Draft Thread

    Eric Lindros was once a sure thing and the next generational player. You never know with these guys, so being skeptical is anything but dumb. But I agree that Lafreniere , for what we know today, is the best pick in this draft by a mile.

    Ottawa Senators are trying "European style" supporter sections

    That signing was weird from the beginning. And the Sens are back to where they were last season.
