Picking Draper's son is less than a good look.

The question now is, where can I watch SHL games so I can build my Raymond hype to max levels?

Yay, I was expecting some weird, disappointing pick. I don't think he's eligible to play here, contractual obligations in Sweden for at least one more year I think.

    2020 Offseason

wasn't sure where to put this or if it's already been said, but zadina is streaming on twitch right now if any of you goobers want to go ask him weird questions in chat.

Anything credible? I really hope it's not the case. Then again I remember seeing somewhere about his skating being much improved recently, so I don't really know anything anyways. Same.

    2020 Draft Thread

After watching a few games of his I'd describe his skating as clunky, It's not even the speed I don't like but the stride and overall mechanics. Can it be remedied over time? Maybe, I'm just not sure how likely that is as I'm not good at projecting what these young guys will look like in 5 years, I simply don't have the experience. So I take it at face value. Other than that I'd say he plays a smart, methodical game. But my worry is how he translates that to the NHL pace. Like you said he can slow the game down, it seems to be the primary way he plays, but I'm just not confident he'll be able to do it in the bigs. So if I'm going to take a small center I'd much rather have Rossi, who I think varies the pace of his game much better while also being considerably stronger on his feet despite being smaller. What I do love about Perfetti is his wristshot, his release is niiiiiiiice. Much prefer it over any of the others outside of Holtz. But still, just too many "ifs" for me for 4th overall. I could be wrong of course, lots of people who know way more than me seem to really like him. But outside of his production and shot I don't see a lot to be excited about.

Stay away from Perfetti, that's my new thing. He won't be, and I really hope we don't take him 4th. I hate to say it but I'm really hoping Stutzle falls to us, though I don't expect it. Failing that I'd like Raymond, and to a lesser extent I'd be ok with Rossi, Drysdale. I've a bad feeling about Perfetti though.

Raymond is who I've since hyped myself up for. He may not be ready as soon as some of the others, but his ceiling looks insanely high. Also, though not a huge deal, he's a righty. I want a high end righty forward. This is assuming Stutzle is already gone.

I'm not calling it good drafting, I'm calling it a necessary part of the "path to glory."

I mean, the same can be said for top picks. Look at the past several stanley cup winners, none of them won with just good drafting outside of the first round. You say Kuch and Point, I say Stamkos and Hedman.

Yea this is pretty much how I feel. Even when the Wings do come back though, I'm not sure how much more I feel like watching the rebuild be artificially dragged out by a s***ty system. I have other hobbies I actually enjoy, turns out I can live without hockey.

I saw this a little earlier. I'm feeling even more annoyed because I feel like the lottery being ******* stupid is apparent to everyone except the league itself.

No. The Wings are -8, followed by Vancouver at -7 and the Avs at -6. edit: found on Reddit.

No surprise there. Couple this with not knowing when the Wings will even play again, I'll probably tune out for a while. Unfortunately, there's just no fun in being a fan at the moment.

Pretty sure I'd take that guy at 2 even, I'm feeling pretty good about Stutzle. Tough call though, Byfield is a specimen.

don't misrepresent what mackel actually said. He called Larkin overrated, when in fact most of us rate him just fine.

Nailed it. At 23 with no supporting cast. You have to try extra hard to argue otherwise, meanwhile It's really simple to portray him as a 1C. That should tell you something itself.

Worth thinking about, but I guess my first though after hearing that is that everyone's stats will be inflated. So if we're comparing them to past draft years/players of other leagues sure, but if we're just going to look at them relative to one another and assume the quality of the OHL isn't drastically different this year then It's not really a huge factor. Personally I'm not knowledgeable enough on the skill differences between the various leagues, outside of the typical narrative you hear about the QMJHL being a higher scoring league. That's why I find prospects like Stutzle so enticing, as I think there's no doubt a men's professional league contains stiffer competition.

Thanks for the short analysis as I still have barely looked into Drysdale. When you mention Hughes and Makar my interest is piqued. Your last line is the way I think though, and if we don't get Laff I'd really like any one of those guys. Byfield obviously, Stutzle would be cool for the german factor and because I really like drafting guys who've already played in men's leagues. Rossi seems risky due to his skating/size, but he just seems so stinking talented and also appears to have some exceptional balance, which may make his size less of a factor.

I bit the bullet and sifted through your nonsense, but see no actual analysis or what you're referring to outside of some stupid Staal/Bergeron comparison (shallow). I may have missed it or not looked back far enough, but I don't care that much to spend more time on it. Feel free to find it for me if you'd like. I'll say again, statistically he's a 1C, It's real easy to figure this part out, so easy I'm not going to do it for you since anyone with any basic reasoning skills can figure out how. He does this while being the sole threat his team has to offer, which if you don't think is a massive disadvantage, you're delusional (color me shocked).
