Im smashing s*** if we take perfetti , if the wings didnt fall back perfetti wouldnt even be mentioned as a top 5 pick ... that should say something . Dont take him cause he plays for your buddys team , id rather listen to hakan andersson and pick raymond . I think the one and only time we took a swede in the first from i remember is kronwall. Hakan must be salivating at taking a top swedish prospect for once

Nah, taking him 4th is a huge crapshoot. Although he is touted as the best G prospect since Price (not sure if he was taken 6th?), you really have to be in a desperate situation to take a goalie that high. Price hasn't won the Habs anything after all the money thrown at him, probably never will. Flower won three Cups after being taken first, but he's an anomaly. DiPietro was a failure after being taken first.  We have plenty of UFA options with only Bernier's $3 million on the books for next year. We do need to take more chances on goalies this draft though. Three 2nd rounders, should use one at least on a goalie, cause the late round picks aren't doing it. Our prospect pool is pretty rough. If any of them make it to the NHL, it's going to be quite awhile, barring another Mrazek situation popping up.

Stay away from Perfetti, that's my new thing.
He won't be, and I really hope we don't take him 4th. I hate to say it but I'm really hoping Stutzle falls to us, though I don't expect it. Failing that I'd like Raymond, and to a lesser extent I'd be ok with Rossi, Drysdale. I've a bad feeling about Perfetti though.

Raymond is who I've since hyped myself up for. He may not be ready as soon as some of the others, but his ceiling looks insanely high. Also, though not a huge deal, he's a righty. I want a high end righty forward.
This is assuming Stutzle is already gone.

Lottery results still make me sick to my stomach thinking about it...but Raymond/Rossi/Perfetti getting so many great reviews lately is making it a bit easier

Yeah, I'm leaning Raymond at four, unless one of LA or Ottawa take Drysdale, and Stutzle drops to us...

Going into this season, some people thought Raymond might challenge Lafreniere for 1st overall.
    https://hockeytroll.ca/2019/07/24/can-lucas-raymond-be-drafted-before-alexis-lafreniere-hell-be-fighting-for-a-spot-against-men-on-frolundas-shl-roster/
He didn't do that, but I've seen people making a case for him still being one of the heavyweights of this draft class.

Well, now that we know we're not getting Lafreniere, we're free to talk s*** about him.
Bob McKenzie said he's not viewed as a generational talent and he's not necessarily even considered a sure-thing franchise player. His floor is tremendous; he's a top-line NHL winger *right now*. No one in this draft class is anywhere near as NHL-ready as he is. No one else in this draft class is a solid top-line NHLer right now.
HOWEVER, I've always said there's a decent chance that someone else in this draft class -- someone outside the top three -- ends up being a better NHLer. We have to identify that player. I hope there's someone that Yzerman and his people are in love with in the same way that the Canucks people were in love with Pettersson, and I hope we get that player, and I hope he's as good as Pettersson.
Raymond might fit the 2017 Pettersson profile the best.
    For what it's worth...

I wouldn't worry too much about intra-division competition. As with any division, the Atlantic will always have some dominant teams, some middling teams, and some bad teams. Some Atlantic teams will overachieve, some will underachieve, some will perform exactly as expected. The perceived hierarchy will always be fluid, will never be set in stone. For example: Boston is a top team right now, sure, but Chara is 43, Bergeron is 34, Krejci is 34, Marchand is 32, Rask is 32, and Krug is possibly on the way out.
If Lafreniere lands with an Atlantic team, I'm going to be more annoyed than worried. You always have to assume that there are going to be multiple recent 1st and 2nd overall picks in your division -- and if you're a Wings fan, you always have to assume that not a single one of them will be on your team. I was hoping this draft would end the trend and I'm low-key devastated that it didn't. But I don't think this lotto outcome has really hurt us. It just didn't really help us the way we were hoping it would. We could've gotten a big shot in the arm, but we didn't. So, our status quo reality is unchanged.
I'm sure Yzerman will turn this thing around. What's killing my HYPE! is the likely timeline. I can't do another three years of this. The universe has to give me a reason to remain as dialed-in as I've been. I'm tired of talking myself into being emotionally invested. Show me something.

Yea this is pretty much how I feel. Even when the Wings do come back though, I'm not sure how much more I feel like watching the rebuild be artificially dragged out by a s***ty system. I have other hobbies I actually enjoy, turns out I can live without hockey.

I mean, the same can be said for top picks. Look at the past several stanley cup winners, none of them won with just good drafting outside of the first round.
You say Kuch and Point, I say Stamkos and Hedman.

I think this article sums up my view of the draft bs..
    https://www.mlive.com/redwings/2020/06/nhl-should-alter-draft-lottery-odds-more-in-favor-of-worst-teams.html
and the last sentence shows that change is needed in the process....
"The worst team has landed the No. 1 pick only twice in the past nine years."

Believe me, if I thought my attitude, or posts on LGW would have any impact on the way the draft lottery is run, you'd hear a much different tune...
But yeah, I completely agree with Burke on this one as well.
I too wish Yzerman would voice his opinion on the matter. Sure, he's disappointed, but he should be pissed about the way the whole thing went down.
It is absolutely asinine that the "play-in" teams together had better odds of winning the lottery, than the worst team in the league...

The "but that is what it is"  attitude and those 'classy' comments from Yzerman are part of the problem... we need more Brian Burke's calling out this 2nd rate league and their made for TV rigged draft.

I generally try to be at least somewhat level-headed about the Wings. Lately I find it to be draining, exhausting, the exact opposite of fun. Just a whole lot of coping, trying to talk myself into being HYPE!'d about stuff that probably doesn't warrant it.
Yzerman has repeatedly stressed that fans are going to have to be patient, which is GM speak for "Unless we absolutely murder a couple of drafts, it's going to be at least another three years." We've dropped in every lotto draw we've been in and now we're hit with a lotto outcome that's so unbelievably stupid it's got non-conspiracy people thinking the 15-team lotto format is at best totally broken and at worst rigged.
Mystery team wins the lotto and that will drive interest in a gimmick postseason and a gimmick second lotto, all while we get ready to use our first pick on someone who won't be in the NHL full-time until 2023 and prepare for another year of being the worst team in the league. Awesome.
And you know what's going to happen in next season's lotto draw? We're going to drop. Or maybe we surprise everyone and finish 14th from the bottom. Given how these past few lotto draws have turned out, you'd think we'd have a good chance of winning one of the top three spots, right? Wrong. The worst three teams would get the top three picks. Because the Wings are consistently on the wrong side of everything.
    > "No, you can't spend all that money. Stop trying to win. We need Parity™."
    > "No, you can't have backdiving contracts, so we're going to retroactively punish you for something you did that wasn't officially considered wrong at the time. We need Parity™."
    > "No, your insistence on maintaining a winning culture and extending your playoff streak will get you no sympathy from our lotto system machinations. You should tank. It's the smart thing to do. Finishing in no man's land is stupid af. We need Parity™."
    > "No, stop tanking. Why are you tanking? My God, stop tanking. All you Red Wings do is tank. Look at all these model franchises who aren't tanking. My God, have some self-respect and show some semblance of tact. We need Parity™."
    > "Look, if you think New Jersey and Buffalo are proof that the 15-team lotto hasn't actually fixed The Edmonton Problem...how dare you. We need Parity™."
    > "Look, if you think this whole play-in thing is a cynical, calculated, underhanded gimmick designed to drive ratings...how dare you. We need Parity™."
    > "Look, the odds were against you placing in the top three, so I don't know why you're complaining. It's the odds. Who dictates the odds? Well, surely not us. The odds come down from a higher authority. God himself, in fact. We need Parity™."
    > "Colorado has dropped from 1st to 4th twice and they seem to be doing alright. I know they got MacKinnon before the 15-team lotto became a thing, but that's beside the point. If it's such a big deal to you, maybe you should've sucked as hard as the Avs did that season. Maybe then you'd have MacKinnon. We need Parity™."
I'm tired of it. Hockey's supposed to be an escape from bulls***.

I do feel bad for Botterhill. The Pegulas are proving to be a s*** show.
By all reports I've read it sounds like they constantly intervened and forced him to make deals like the Skinner one. Skinner is going to f*** them for a LONG time in a big way. And at the end of the day they fired Botterhill for being a good boy. Never had a chance. Terry Pegula is a rich old oil man who's having fun playing sports now, but doesn't actually know what he's doing. Now he has business admin to be his puppet. I'm moving back to the Buffalo area next week. Should be fun. I've talked to Brad May a few times in the past. He absolutely hated working for the Sabres. "Joke team" were his own words. Last I heard from him he wanted a job with the Ducks so he could move back to Cali permanently, but it doesn't seem like that came to fruition.
Ended up being false. That crazy priest is indeed Datsyuks personal confessor and life coach, but he was not holed up in the monastery with him.
But when I said Pavel is a homophobic religious nut job... does anyone doubt me now?
