I have the same app on my phone that I think @Barrie does where basically an atom bomb goes off every time the Wings score so I always know the score unfortunately. But it's reminded me more than a few times that a game is going on when I'm doing something else way less important like spending time with my family.

Can you please explain this to my wife?  She doesn't understand the 945 am to 845 pm football Sunday program.  I can hide the hockey in my work hrs usually.

It just tells me that Yzerman was not on the Broberg Train, or he would've traded back to 10 and if Holland took Seider, then he just would've taken Broberg.  But instead he just took Seider.  Thats it, that is probably his reasoning.  He wanted D, wasn't impressed with Broberg, and didn't have any other D ranked high enough to draft at 10.  He didn't want to gamble and make the Vancouver trade and risk Holland taking Seider.
Funny, I've seen on Twitter some so called "experts" giving The Red Wings a grade of D- or F when it comes to the draft.  Relax experts, nobody drafts in accordance with you. Here's a comparison. I can image what our "grade" was after the 1989 draft.  Pretend you all don't know how 1989 turned out for us and then loo at it like you're looking at the 2019 draft.  Keep in mind Russians were never going to come over to the NHL, especially defecting from The Red Army.  Sure, Mike Sillinger was probably the BPA at #11, considering his stats, and despite playing so many games, he never brought these stats to the NHL:
 
Bob Bougher had some impressive stats as well for a D, but again, never really translated to the NHL and never played a single game in Detroit, and never an NHL games until 1995-96. Here are his junior stats:
 
...and considering Nick Lidstrom's stats were not "wham bam, thank you ma'am" nobody probably thought that he was on an outstanding pick either:
 
...again, The Russian's were never going to come over, so The Wings probably got laughed at when they chose Fedorov and Konstantinov.  But look at this draft and tell me that it wasn't graded much higher than a D. Dallas Drake being one of thoise late round steals (too bad, not all 1000 games for the Red Wings though.)  Of course, everyone in the world knows how it turned out after 20 years!
 
In hindsight this was an A++++++++ draft.  Here's to hoping that a few of our picks this year make 2019 a home run as well!
I,like many of you preferred somebody else at #6.  I was really hoping for Cozins since he was there, but who's to say that Seider isn't (not saying he's Lidstrom) another Lidstrom?  When Lidstrom was drafted, see above, his stats didn't scream 7 Norris Trophies, 4 Stanley Cups, 11 All-Star Games, over 1500 games played, number retired....you get where I'm going.  Let's just see which direction Seider is going within the next 3-4 years before everyone calls Yzerman a moron. Ya?

I love the Seider pick!  Watch that guy being interviewed he's very sharp, self-aware, and seemingly willing to be a team guy.
The argument about where he should have been picked is based on mock drafts... remember these guys aren't scouts they just play them on TV. 

He wouldn't. But just saying that it's not 100% decided that he's going back to the DEL next season. Either way would be good, I'd just rather him start in the AHL for callup potential.

Regarding Hakans resumee, to be fair, you have to say that our picks on average over the last 10-15 years might be about the highest in the league, which makes it harder to get results. It's not like, let's say the Pens, found guys like Crosby or Malkin in late rounds like we did with Z or Dats..
Most stars, franchise players or 1C, 1D, go early...and we haven't been picking there a lot..

From what I read so far, mostly on german media in more detail, he wouldn't mind. Just keep working, keep improving, get to his goals. That's who he is.
The more I read, the more I like the pick. Not the way he was picked, since trading down seemed reasonable (but as somebody already pointed out, we don't know the situation and the information Stevie had..if he got the impression he would get picked right behind him...then you just get your guy..), but I like the kid.
A few points I read and liked so far:
- Mo is originally from Erfurt in Eastern Germany...the pro team there is limited, so at age 14 he moved to Western Germany, where in Mannheim (not that big of a city, but a top5-10 club in Germany for decades, with their junior teams playing the highest league, too), he could develop at one of the main talent bases in the country. That's a lot of determination for that age.
- Started playing with and against men at age 16...last season in Germanys first league was first full season, as a regular on that squad.
- Was a captain on youth national teams, always a good sign
- Played very good at the world cup, stood his ground, rarely made mistakes
Plus, I read Stevie even came over here to watch him in person. Well, given the way he build Tampa, maybe keyboard warriors should just wait how this plays out.
Could just mean, that from his TB slot he would've tried to trade up to get him? If he really just wanted the guy because he is convinced, well then..
That would actually be the best idea this franchise has had in years.

Some thoughts on the other picks:
I really like Grewe and Moore. Grewe sounds like someone everybody loves on their team and hates on all other teams, like Marchand. I wouldnt mind having that guy. Bertuzzi is that way, too, but 2-3 of those cant hurt, I guess. Moore sounds like a steal at that draft position, like what I read so far.
Tyutyayev could be the steal of this draft, looking at his draft position. I have no idea how he fell that far..the MHL is not a bad league at all, to be at a PPG pace there, you gotta be good. Maybe Hakan again was the only one who took the flight there?

Looks like he works in Ibrahimovics old neighborhood as a runner for the local drug lord.

Yzerman is definitely the hipster GM. No major-label prospects allowed. Only indie kids.

I’ve decided Byrum, Turcotte, and Dach are gonna be gone. We have a choice of Cozens, Pod, or Zegras.  Ever since someone a few pages back compared Pod to Zegras where Pod ate nails for Breakfast and Zegras baked Cupcakes I can’t back us picking him. He grew up in New York. Played his college hockey at NYU. Makes sense.
Worth noting: Datsyuk's mother is Mike Richter. You've gotta think that'll be a factor.

Yeah.  I dunno.  12 packs of beer are pretty commonplace too.  So, maybe it was 12+.  ...but you can get a 30 pack of Lebatt Blue  for the price of a 12 pack of something "better".  Guess it depends on his tastes and such.
I'm sure a case isn't out of the realm of possibility.  Maybe not EVERY night.  ...but regularly.  Sure.  I can see it.    Couple of months ago when I wasn't in such a great place I was putting back 4-6 beers or a combo of a few beers plus a cocktail or two nightly.  Thankfully, my ship has righted, but... I can see how it could get to a place that was much much worse.
It sucks that depression has such as stigma attached to it.  It sucks that you're just supposed to "figure things out" or "move on" or "man-up."  I know I'm a huge smart ass on here a lot but if anyone ever just needs an ear.  I will listen.

IMO...I'm thinking he will be offered the Seattle job (IF they get a team), but he'll decline and head "upstairs" for the Wings in an advisory role (SVP and Alt Governor) .  I'm thinking Jimmy D at age 75 might step down.
Kenny will be 63 this November, and that would make him 64 by the time his first season with Seattle is getting underway (if the team ramps up by 2019-2020 season).  He's got 4 kids who most are still in the area.  Really nice home in the area.  He has summer vacation home in Ontario which is a fairly short drive (considering) from the Detroit area.  I just don't see it.   At his age, what he's already accomplished, doesn't need the money, moving literally all the way across the country to Seattle (or at least spend 2/3 of his year away from his home and family).  I don't think he will. 

If anything can bring me out of the woodwork, it’s news of My Lord and Savior Stevesus Yzermanchrist making his long overdue return to the Motherland to (not) strap on his skates and lead us to a threepeat, a super bowl win, and the end of the Flint water crisis. 
The part of my brain that’s not having a fever dream hopes that all is well with his family, has tempered expectations that he will ever return to the Wings franchise in any official capacity, and will wait and see how this pans out like a normal-functioning human being. 
But I’d be lying if I said my initial reaction to the original tweets wasn’t to aggressively hump the nearest inanimate (or not—sorry Lesley) object whilst scream-singing Don’t Stop Believing. Whatevs.

You're probably right, Kenny should've just given AA whatever he demanded, that seems like smart GMing. I'm surprised this needs to be said, but Larkin =/= Athanasiou. One is talking about how he realizes a deal needs to be both beneficial for both himself and the team, the other tried using a KHL offer as leverage. I'll let you figure out why some folks were soured on one but not by the other.
