Yeah, woah. I'm with THIS comment, not the one he quote that completely slammed Brunner. Brunner was like a $5 lottery ticket that paid our $250, and people have the nerve to curse their luck that they didn't win the $1 million jackpot. He was paid virtually nothing last year, and yet people act like they were "ripped off" by him. I don't get it. Even if you factor in all the slumps and the defensive gaffes, that's probably a $2.5 to $3.5 million player there. And he would have GOT that too if the Wings had been able to compliance buyout Sammy, or weren't still saddled with Tootoo's $1.9 AAV. Brunner isn't a "kid", he's in his late 20's and has had almost a decade of professional hockey experience. It's possible he's being unreasonable, but I don't blame him for wanting to get paid given that he probably expects to be a 25 to 30 goal scorer next year, and he may be right.
As for Fedorov, the point is well-taken (if not the anti-Brunner rhetoric). Yzerman could barely get this team into the Playoffs for years until Fedorov (and Lidstrom) became Red Wings. I'm in the even smaller camp of "2009 Hossa apologists", so I guess the pattern with me is that if you play hard as a Red Wing and aren't a total jerk about how you left, I don't carry the hate.

Ditch Quiency and give his money to Brunner!!

Luongo really has handled this professionally and with a lot of class Gillis on the other hand comes off like a compete idiot. It's really amazing, how this guy can still have a job after that fiasco. Luongo has put up his house for sale and I highly doubt, that he is thrilled right now.
Gillis only has himself to blame for this.
As for Thomas when he is on his game, he is as dominant as a goaltender can be I also love the fact, that he doesn't give a crap about being mainstream (= political playball) for a bunch of idiots. I think, he he will definately end up in Philly or Edmonton, maybe Buffalo as a mentor for Enrot if they trade Miller.

The pens played with zero intensity the first round. Sooner or later someone is gonna jump on that. I'm not sold on the Pens what so ever. Putting in offense has never worked before and it won't start now.

Datsyuk isn't like any other star though. He's such a unique player with an otherwordly level of skill that I have never seen in any other hockey player. He is Barry Sanders or Lionel Messi on skates. Combine that with a shy, almost introverted humilty, a wry, self-deprecating sense of humour, an elite defensive game, 4 Lady Byngs, 3 Selkes and 2 Stanley Cups. 6th on the all-time Red Wings scoring list.
Other players may come along and score more points and win more Cups, but none of them will do it with the jaw-dropping brilliance of Pav. Thank goodness this is the Youtube generation so we can show our kids and grandkids exactly what he used to do.

If Datsyuk gets his jersey retired, then Fedorov is a no brainer. Because we wouldn't be talking about 22 straight years, or even anywhere close to that if not for Fedorov...we also wouldn't be talking 3 Cups in 6 years without Fedorov...
I know this isn't a debate over Feds/Dats, but I love how folks (and no offense to the OP) bend over backwards to say how much Dats deserves his jersey in the rafters and its ok for him to want to go play somewhere he wants to enjoy his life outside of hockey, yet when it comes to Fedorov and how he is at or near the top of every statistical category for the Red Wings, has won a Hart Trophy and also wanted to go play somewhere he would enjoy his life outside of hockey better, he gets boo'd and shunned and doesn't deserve the same recognition....
I agree with your assessment of Datsyuk, don't get me wrong. I say put them both in the rafters, they have both earned it...but you cannot put Dats up without Feds...

Wings get swept in the first round. Too many rookies with no playoff experience and a lack of toughness for the physicality of the playoffs. Our vets are old and decrepit, and Daniel Cleary sucks worse than that Danny Cleary guy we had last year who played on one knee all season. Unless Z's beard takes over scoring responsibilities, our Captain will burn out and his production will drop just like it always does. He's consistently inconsistent, and Dats can't save him from himself because he's too busy banging chicks and partying with Kaner. Mule is the only constant on this team, that man goes out every shift and is the definition of "compete." I dare anyone to name an athlete that works harder, but the reality is he can't carry this whole team because that's just no fun. Howard is average, blah blah blah, something about Quincey sucking, soft Euros, too many rookies/vets, did I mention Daniel/Danny/Dan Cleary sucks, Babcock's a s***ty coach, Holland worst GM ever...

Big game, Ericsson is asking all fans to seriously not boo stewie. I really don't feel like he will but I could see some not understanding the situation and just seeing him playing for the sharks and boo. Detroit fans already embarrass us enough with booing Hossa. None the less Suter and Praise like they were red wings property at any given time (ehh suters been datsyuk property a few times if u know what I mean ).

Wanted him when he left pit. Was disappointed when he left the NHL. Wanted him when he came back. Wanted him when he chose Dallas. I still want him in the Winged Wheel sweater. Of all the gambles we have taken and lost out on, this would be the least upsetting one to me if it didn't work out. That being said, the only way he could hurt us is if he got injured right after getting him.
