I kind of want to reserve judgement until the new pp/forward coach shows his mettle, bc last season was an abomination, and I don't want to just blame blash bc I honestly think he delegates power to try to make things right. But if special teams don't improve by the end of the year, I'll blame it all on blashill, toi/usage of players not withstanding, that is.So I agree with you, but a leash only gets so long. It's gotta be hard coming into an organization that hasn't missed the playoffs for 25 years. And on topic, I agree this contract is probably on the higher side for a fourth liner, but honestly man, it could be worse. If we didn't have e and howie signed to the deals eyes are (and I really don't think howies deal is THAT bad in context) along with the Weiss deal/buyout, I don't think this contract would be too much of a problem. Ya know? If we had prime z and d, we wouldnt have to worry about that though. They could go out against anyone and score 90pts/yr, everyone knows were in transition, so taking pressure off our most skilled players (at this point still our older guys for the most part) with guys who can handle the harder minutes isn't as big of a deal as it seems. Once we get the talent on the big club to take over, it won't matter, but then we'll still have a few years of them being cost controlled snyway. So it's almost inconsequential either way.

This deal is going to be a steal when in year 2 of it he becomes an elite 50 pt shutdown guy. But seriously, he's an awesome checking line center, if we wouldn't have signed him to this, someone else would have for more. Does that make it worth it? Probably not, but he's a true homegrown guy, we all know he wasn't going to be leaving.

I know we're in love with our prospects, and the leagueis in love eith youth, but mantha and aa's value is nowhere near nikes or tats. They're proven goal 25+ goal scorers. Nyquist holds the most value to MOST teams since he's signed for the next 3 years at a reasonable cap hit, but to a team like Anaheim with an internal budget the year left before rfa makes tats more valuable. Cost controlled assets, and they're weak on the wing. I would give up nyquist before tatar just because of tatar possession numbers, even though he gives the puck away a fair amount. But I'd easily give up tats or nyquist for fowler... The add on from our side would depend on who we sent, but it wouldn't be a top prospect, imo. maybe a 2nd/3rd round pick and a b/c level prospect but i Dont see it costing more than that as long as we're giving up something cheaper than fowlers salary, especially since Anaheim needs to re-sign Lindholm and Rakell.

If he does rub off on kadeykin, then pavs leaving a year early is entirely worth it.Other wise, I hope pav has a miracle career in russia. Ha. KIDDING. he gave living human tendons for the wings, if he wants to end his career in Russia I think he's deserved that right.

No way we should offer trouba an offer sheet. Even if we could. He has a high ceiling, but not high enough to make everything else work. We don't have/can't afford the picks, plus the money it would cost us would be worth more than his actual play has dictated. Fowler is high risk/high reward because he's been on a team with amazing depth on the back end. So he looks like AT LEAST a #2 on the ducks, either we get him snd he's Jeff petry, in which case he's still needed, or he's a solid top pairing guy, which we still need. After the Larsson/hall swap either one of those options is worth nyquist plus something else. Not aa, because aa will be a solid top 6 winger, or a 2/3 c, which we still need for the future.

Bahahaha. Beautiful. I actually like jimmy masks usually, but I like Petrs themes. A LOT of great goalies all have themes, and I'm hoping Petr keeps the tradition alive of all time greats having a follow able pattern. My biggest problem with howies masks are those g-d lense flairs thst dave art always throws in over abundantly. They're obnoxious to me. But he still has some solid, classic buckets.
