    LGW Moderator Problems

I'm coming back to this thread because this is exactly what is happening. Today is my last post and visit here, I was singled out by a couple of your social justice veterans and Vladdy moderator arbitrarily picked what to delete and when, resulting in my looking like a jerk and him refusing to delete the posts that started it, even after I asked 3 times. I am leaving because you mods are trying to run a kiddy daycare, I've never seen so much butt hurt in one forum, and so many posts deleted because of it. I tried coming back after the last fiasco but nothing has changed. So yes Harold, unfortunately, I am leaving because of the mods. Thanks for the memories, and Let's Go Red Wings. bye...

Kane case headed to grand jury

Not cool mods, if you're going to delete my comments and make me look like the bad guy here, then delete all the comments. I responded civily and respectfully, if you delete my comments, then they all must go.

Kane case headed to grand jury

What? I took the position that no one knows what the facts are, and our personal bias will in the meantime fill in the blanks as to what we 'think' happened. That is called having an open mind before the actual trial starts where they present the facts. It seems that you have already assumed Kane is guilty, and that anything anyone says contrary is messed up to you. That, my friend is your bias, and exactly what I am referring to.

Kane case headed to grand jury

Unfortunately, there is no official 'story' to go by at the moment. As such, our biases will play a factor in these discussions until all the facts are presented to the grand jury. Until then this is all we can go by as our biases both result in a different version of 'the story'.

Kane case headed to grand jury

Or, as it has been noted, she hovered over Kane for several hours at the club, repulsing other girls who got close, witness reports state she was going home with him as was her agressive intention. Spending several hours in a club, then ride home, it could have easily happened there.

Not a bad time to file a grievance on a suspected wife beater when the NHL is dealing with a suspect rape case. "We'll just put this right there and slowly back away..." NHLPA lawyers...

    Lovable Dan Cleary update thread

I particularily dislike the yellow color. The point in this is why would you continue to give something money that upsets you? Regardless of what my reasons are, they are my reasons, just like you may have your reasons to continue giving someone money even though they may disrespect you every single day. Of course my measely financial withdrawl won't impact the $5 billion Illitch empire, but I like most Americans have a finite amount of resources, and picking several hockey games to go to a year can translate into a small vacation for the family out of the country. So like the saying goes, I vote with my pocketbook. And in this case the other guy votes to take his family to Big Bear this year instead of several hockey games. When the NHL continually calls hockey, "a product" (and I hate that), then when they stick a product in your face that you don't like, do you buy it out of blind loyalty or do you refuse it if it stinks like runny poopies?

    Lovable Dan Cleary update thread

Why? In today's world the best way to get someones attention is through the pocket book. Don't like what someone is promoting? Stop giving them money, it's my hard earned money, "you Joe Schmo business owner have made a decision that upsets me, I will refuse to continue supporting your shenanigans until you change them". I boycotted the league after the lockout for several months, no games, no reading or discussing...nothing, but ultimately brokedown because I'm a hockey junkie.

Johnny Oduya signs with Stars 2 yrs $3.75 AAV

You probably highly disagree with his wiki page then: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jim_Nill "Nill's unique ability to pull off the blockbuster trade has been attributed to a Jedi-like wiggle of his trademark mustache, nicknamed "Monty." LOL, last sentance...oh wiki, you source of quasi-accurate information. Personally I think he's made some great free signings and has given Dallas some legitamacy as a team. Last year they were 2nd in team scoring but sucked on the back end, so he signs Niemi, Odoya to help out and brings in Sharp on the 2nd line. Dallas BlackHawks anyone? This team is going to rise like Tampa. that's my crystal ball prediction

Red Wings sign D Mike Green (3-years, $18-million)

Although I knew the Wings were pursuing Green I did not think he would come (but hoped he would very much). Ken Holland, you have pulled a green rabbit out of your butt, good job sir. I've been critical of Holland lately, in fact just a few days ago ranted probably like everyone else, so to hear that Green took a term cut to play in Detroit surprised me. Awesome.

Mike Richard's Contract Terminated (Not Bought Out)

Few things, Richards has been known for a few years as a partier of the Cocaine and Ecstasy type. This has followed him from Philly, players on the ice have taunted him, and if McCarty's bio gives any indication (didn't he pop positive for marijuana 30 times in his career and still played?), then Richards has been repeatedly counciled on his situation, and that's probably what Dean Lombardi was referring to last year, about straightening out etc, and that he felt Richards lied to his face. Judging by all of this, that has been swirling around him for several years, we can probably speculate this was not an accident. Makes more sense now this is starting to be a sobriety issue. Regarding Oxy, it is illegal to take across the border period, he would know this. Sounds like a Bob Probert situation that just so happened to be a god-send coincidence to the Kings who already were trying to dump him.

Mike Richard's Contract Terminated (Not Bought Out)

Leave it to TMZ to have the latest scoop in even hockey news: Oxycodone at the border folks: http://www.tmz.com/2015/06/30/nhls-mike-richards-nhl-notified-about-oxycodone-drama-at-canadian-border/ Putting everything into perspective, this is no joke of a drug, and chances are he's an addict. If anyone saw the documentary with Chris Nilan or read about Boogard, looks like another player needs help, seems Oxy is the how they all start. At this point, all I ask, as a fan and a human, is that he gets some help, because he's on a highway to hell with this junk.

Mike Richard's Contract Terminated (Not Bought Out)

In other articles that were out last week before the draft, Lombardi said his biggest mistake as a GM was not buying out Richards last year. Mind you this is before this big news. Dean said they had the buyout in place, but that he wanted to meet with Richards in person and look him in the eye, and against his gut he gave him a second chance. He said Richards lied to his face about making an improvement and turning things around for the upcoming season. So maybe that's it? The material breach of contract is him lying to the GM about the steps he will take to improve and he didn't? Either that or Stoll is buying his drugs from him lol. Here's an arcticle from January about it: http://thehockeywriters.com/dean-lombardis-big-mistake/

    The Bowman Effect

He is exactly the type of guy to build a team, and there's literally, pages upon pages in google or bing that prove this. He was the GM in St. Louis for 2 of 3 years and it was his knowledge of the players that resulted in such a successful draft to begin the expansion. His understanding of player personnel is legendary and that's why teams keep doubling his salary to come on board. You make it sound as if he forces his way into these teams, it's the other way around, they doubled his salary from Mtl to Buf to Pit to Det. Granted his impact in Chicago is limited, I'll agree to that, besides the fact that Stan is the product of his seed, so maybe his impact is a little more then we like to admit. Regarding Yzerman, everything is rumor, you and I will never know the full details of what transpired. Yes, Bowman and Yzerman fueded, but the trade was probably more of a scare tactic then anything. As such, you and I will have two different opinions on something that never happened. So you can't judge a legacy for something that again, never happened. In the end, Yzerman became exactly the type of player Bowman wanted. As we all know Bowman was the master of getting into your head to get what he wanted, is it coincidence then? His influence in the trades in Pittsburg are known. And here's a short list of players picked up when Bowman was special advisor to Wings and then when he left when Holland took over. Bowman Special Advisor Era: 2005 - 2008 Mikael Samuelsson Andreas Lilja Chris Osgood Dominik Hasek Danny Markov Brian Rafalski Brad Stuart (trade) Marian Hossa Holland Era: 2009 - 2015 Todd Bertuzzi Jason Williams Mike Modano Carlo Colaiacovo Mikael Samuelsson Stephen Weiss Daniel Alfredsson Marek Zidlicky (trade) Erik Cole (trade) Jordan Tootoo

    The Bowman Effect

I don't understand your hatred for Bowman. After 4 stellar years of coaching the Blues the Canadiens hired him where he won 5 cups. They brought him in for a reason, because he brings the best out of the team and knows how to make them win. Red Wings would win zero Cups had Bowman not shown up. As a GM what exactly did he do to you FlashyG? How did this man hurt you so much? When I think of 'among worst GM' I think along the lines of Mike Milbury... there's just no chance Bowman is so terrible, he wouldn't have the success he did if he was terrible at personnel changes.

    The Bowman Effect

Bowman's first coaching job was with the newly created St. Louis Blues, in the first 3 years of the Blues existance and the first 3 years of Bowman's coaching them, he took them to the Stanley Cup Finals THREE YEARS IN A ROW. They did this with expansion draft players and a 40 year old goalie. This is one of the most astonishing coaching performances ever, and you fail to even recognize these were Stanley Cup Finals, 3 of them as a rookie coach with a rookie team. But when you say he's the most overrated person in NHL history, with the fact that in the 48 years in the NHL, 19 of them have been in the Finals... I wonder if maybe you're thinking of Drayson Bowman... no maybe Ralph Bowman? Are you even talking about hockey?

    The Bowman Effect

I know you gave this a lot of thought, but there is zero percent chance that the current Wings or any line we have is grittiter then the Grind Line. The mere name "Grind Line" really implies what they were. That 4th line pulverized other lines and they could actually score when it mattered. Our lunch pail kid 4th line plus Abby is just no where near those guys. I don't know what metrics you are using to determine this, but it seems you are at vast odds with the rest of the community comparing this team to the past teams.

Holland is so on it, he's resigning Cleary to a 3rd year. "See, here's a UFA willing to play in Detroit." - Ken Holland

    The Bowman Effect

He wanted 10 years of sucking to accumulate picks. There was a time when Wings had 15 coaches in 17 years... don't want to suck that bad again. At that point it's called gagging and that is illegal in some states.

    The Bowman Effect

Don't know about you, but I'm old enough to remember the latter half of the Dead Things, how terrible that era was and how painfully long it dragged on. I only recall 15 years of pain before the ship started to right, there were 15 more before that and the old geezers will gnash their teeth and pull out what's left of their hair thinking of those days... be careful what you ask for.
  24. LAWings

    The Bowman Effect

Absolutely not, the point is, Bowman is the golden goose, in 48 years in the NHL, he has been to the Finals 19 times. I don't care what capacity Scotty Bowman is on your team, special advisor to the GM, janitor in the lower level concourse or jock strap collector, his invaluable advice and experience will be most helpful. I would prefer to have him on my team in some capacity then not on my team in any capacity. Statistically speaking, the former is the better option.

    The Bowman Effect

Say wha....? You mean our 4th line lunch pail kids are grittier then the 2002 4th line GRIND LINE. 2002 also had Chelios, Shannahan and Avery... Wings are powderpuff girls compared to that team. 2002 team is the core that did this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oz4udKvoh2Q Wings of 2015 are no where close to that level of physicality. In 2002-03 Wings had over 1200 PIM collectively and 12th in the league, this season, 724 PIM. That's 500 LESS minutes of gritiness.
