I get that you think Smith should be getting PP time, that might boos his points. But how are bad stats against worse competition in any way indicative that's he's a better hockey player than people think? Let's say he's in the top 4 instead of Quincey. Does he score more than Quincey has in his added 1:08 per game? Maybe. Is the pair worse defensively? Yes. He's not a top 4 defenseman on this team and he wouldn't be a top 4 defenseman on most other teams either. It's like Babs always says. "Players always say if you give me more ice time I'll produce more, and I always say produce more and I'll give you more ice time." It's not a hard concept to understand. If he was seen or produced like a top 4 guy, he'd be getting top 4 minutes. He's not and he's not so that should sum it up. -
Cammalleri, Jagr, Zidlicky, that's pretty much it if there don't want to move young guys.

Anyone know anything about Filip Chlapik? Decent size and stats, from what I've read he's still adjusting to the NA game. Should be available late first round, we could trade back with Buffalo and grab him there. I just don't know anything about the kid.

Wasn't sure where esle to put this but Mrazek is staying up and starting Wednesday with Howie backing up. Per Khan. "@AnsarKhanMLive: Babcock said Mrazek starting Wednesday. Howard is backing up. Howard might start Saturday." Also I apologize for not being able to embed tweets and make it look cool.

Marchenko recalled from GR... Ouellet sent down

He was only up because he already had invited his dad on the father's trip. I think he and the wings both knew he wouldn't play. -
Lol 3 stars? Tatar, OEL, Mike Smith. Ooookay.

Weiss has had a really solid game so far

We have 5, yes, but none aside from Mrazek have been all that good consistently. Coreau and mccollum have great numbers this year in the AHL, but Coreau had pedestrian numbers at best in the echl. Perry has terrible numbers from what I recall though I admit I didn't look it up, and Paterson is in what, his 5th year in the OHL? And still doesn't have even good numbers. We have prospects but not good ones. And let's say both goalies get hurt again next year, or the year after. A 1-2 combination of McCollum/Coreau/Paterson scares me. Not that drafting a goalie now will change that, but after this year we won't have a goalie prospect that has the potential to be an NHL starter. And saying we have 5 we don't need more is like if I were to tell you since we have 30 forward prospects we shouldn't draft any more forwards.
-
Are there any goalies available around where we'd pick? I wouldn't be surprised to see us go that route. After Mrazek our depth is shaky.
-
I want Svechnikov but I think he'll be gone by the time we pick.

Maybe not.. http://www.thefourthperiod.com/news/was150202.html -
Hopefully it'll be great. I'm here tonight so hopefully he impresses. It'll be great to watch him in person

I just compared their offensive outputs this year because they're similar and that Helms spot is who's he'd play in if we we're to trade for him. And you said he works hard, and is relentless and solid defensively. All things Helm is. So I was under the impression he's a more offensivle gifted Darren Helm. Which yeah, I'd love to have. I've also read several reports on the guy that say he's a 2-, 3+ line player. Which puts him slightly better than Helm. If it's that laughable, I apologize, I'll try to catch some games. As far as money, Nyquist, Smith and Jurco all need raises and if we can add a top defenseman, we actually might be closer to the cap than a lot of people think. And trading a top prospect + for a position we don't really need to upgrade seems pointless to me.
-
He also costs 6 million, and isn't at a position of huge need right now. Plus it would take more than Larkin stright up to get him. You'd be paying a hefty price for a guy that isn't having a much better offensive year than Darren Helm, that we probably couldn't afford to resign (6 million qualifying offer and he's been a pain in negotiations so far in his career), and that doesn't really pull us any closer to being a cup contender. I'd move Larkin for a defenseman version of O'Reilly, but not O'Reilly. He just doesn't really provide anything we don't already have a enough of. He doesn't fill a huge need. And we'd have to give up a lot of assests for him.
-
I've never really watched him O'Reilly play specifically to watch him but I've read scouting reports and hear what people say about him and I have to ask. Why?

After this game, Luke Glendening could have more xareer hattricks than Pavel Datsyuk.

Teams still make rubels, and with the economy over there, teams aren't making that many rubels. No rubels, no dollars.
-
I was thinking Edmonton. They need vets and the guy is a cup champion. He has a ton of money/term left but at this point what would it hurt?
-
Come and gone. One is playing in the AHL and one in the ECHL. Neither seeming to amount to much.

I agree and I'd definitely look into it, but we have a log jam of D already, so unless we trade 2 dmen, possibly 3, I just don't see it happening. If we sign Petry, which looks like it has a probable chance of happening at this point. We'd have Kronner, E, Kindl, Smith, Lashoff, Ouellet, DK, Quincey, Petry all vying for regular NHL spots. That's 9 guys playing for 7 spots. Adding Hersley would make it 10 guys. We could trade Kindl, waive Lashoff and keep Ouellet down (won't happen), but that still puts Hersley as the 7th dman, unless he outplays Smith. So you could send Hersley down and keep Ouellet up, but then Smith is the 7th dman, which I don't think they want either. And at that point unless there are 2 injuries we don't see Hersley in the NHL for a year anyways. Basically a lot would have to happen for it to be a possibility. But we should explore it.

Stats and attributes look good, but would he be willing to give up khl money to come play in gr for a while?
-
I personally think the whole "every team needs a rep" thing is dumb as well. It's an all star game. The 24 best forwards, 12 best D, and 6 best goalies that year should go. If it's close between two players, go for the player who's team doesn't have a rep. That's fine. If your team doesn't have any all star caliber players (buffalo), tough. Get better players.

Meant to post this the other day but I got sidetracked and forgot. He's added 4 more points in his last two games to up his ppg even more. Pretty good company to be in if you ask me. https://michigan.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1728124
