Marco "No Skill" Kasper with a faceoff win and SICK assist through a defender's legs for a goal yesterday. This dude is such a boss.

Interesting story about how the wings have turned a trade into a stack of prospects and picks.

    Player 1:
24 years old (will turn 25 in a month)
4.6 million dollar salary, 2 more years
    .7 ppg this season
    .45 ppg for his career.
90th percentile offensively and defensively (above replacement) analytically

    Player 2:
    (Just turned) 25 years old
4.4 million dollar salary, 1 more year
    .7 ppg this season
    .52 ppg for his career
90th percentile offensively and defensively (above replacement) analytically

One of these player is Jakob Chychrun and one of them is Filip Hronek. So ask yourself, would you give up two 1st, a top AHL defensive prospect, and a promising young center prospect who's top ten in OHL scoring for Filip Hronek? If not, then Chychrun probably isn't worth that either.

I'm not really sure I understand the attitude vis-a-vis Larkin around here. The guy's in the 90th percentile in almost every measurable analytic category, offense and defense. He was last year too. The only thing that has stopped him from being a 80-90 point center the last two years has been injuries. I could understand if the argument was "Larkin needs to be injured less", to which the answer might be to get another center to lighten his load. But I don't understand the "we're never going to win with Larkin" crowd. This guy is really really good. He has never played with a legit top line winger in his career and last year our 2C was Pius Suter. Pretty easy for defenses to key on the guy.

This entire thread is proposed in bad faith. You absolutely wouldn't do what you're proposing if you were in charge. Also, nobody said the sky would fall if Larkin is traded. You're just bored.

Being C and from MI is great but not the reason he wont be traded. Larkin isnt a SY draft pick but hes def a SY player. heart and soul and best player on the team. Career Red Wing.

Id bring up Edvinsson.  Please enlighten me as to why Seider HAS to have a "stay at home" partner.  Are you pretending Seider is Cale Makar and playing a 200' game?  The reality is MORITZ SEIDER is the defensive stalwart in his pairing.  Not some offensive dynamo risk taker.  He needs a dman that backs off the opposition with transition and offense, not one that causes him to play defense more because of a very limited offensive upside and marginal skating.

You know, they say all teams are created equal, but you look at the Wings and you look at the Leafs, and you can see that statement is not true! See, normally if you go one-on-one with another team, you got a 50-50 chance of winnin’. But Filip Hronek is a genetic freak, and not normal, so you got a 25% at best at beatin’ him! And then you add Ville Husso to the mix? Your chances of winnin’ drastically go down. See, between those two, at LCA, you got a 33 and 1/3 chance of wiinnin’. But the Wings got a 66 and 2/3 chance of winning, cause Auston Matthews KNOWS he can’t beat the Wings, and he’s not even gonna try! So, Mitch Marner, you take your 33 and 1/3 chance, minus Husso's 25 percent chance, and you got an 8 and 1/3 chance of winnin’ at the LCA! But then you take Kubalik's 75 perchance chance at winnin’, if we was to go one-on-one, and add 66 and 2/3 ch… percents, the Wings got a 141 and 2/3 chance of winnin at the LCA! See, Tavares McPajamaboy; the numbers don’t lie, and they spell disaster for you at the Pizza Palace!

Let's say we stay relatively healthy this year and most of our players have UP years, as we are sort of expecting with this new roster. What do our goal totals look like?
Larkin - 30 goals Bertuzzi - 30 goals Raymond - 30 goals Vrana - 30 goals Perron - 30 goals Copp - 20 goals Kubalik - 20 goals Fabbri - 20 goals Rasmussen - 15 goals  Suter - 15 goals Zadina - 10 goals Erne - 10 goals Veleno - 10 goals Sundqvist - 10 goals Seider - 10 goals Chiarot - 5 goals Hronek - 5 goals Oesterle - 5 goals Smith - 5 goals Lindstrom - 0 goals Maata - 0 goals Total: 310 goals I don't think those figures are very ambitious at all for those players. But 310 goals for would put us in 3rd place in the entire league for goals for last year... behind only Florida and Toronto.
Now injuries will happen, and some players will disappoint. Like maybe Seider only scores x5. And Kubalik only x15. And Perron is hurt half the year. But I also think we have some player who could seriously surpass this figures too. Like Vrana goes out and pots x35. Bertuzzi x40. Zadina turns it on and gets x15 or x20. Veleno and Ras too.
I don't think we're a 4 line cup team yet, but this is definitely a deep 3 line team with a ? defense and upgraded goaltending. If Maata and Chiarot prove to be good upgrades (and maybe Eddog makes the team) we could be seriously dangerous when healthy. I have a feeling that even if Chia and Maata are lackluster, Seider is going to go POWER LEVEL OVER 9000 YOU HAVENT EVEN SEEN MY FINAL FORM mode and will carry the defense on his massive shoulders.
Lalonde has no excuses. I expect competitive hockey every ******* night DEREK.

Knowing the relationship Yzerman has with Hakan Andersson and as much as he dives into the Swedish pool when he drafts, you'd have to think that he asked Hakan if Wallstedt should be the pick or should he go with Cossa. I am sure if Hakan had said Wallstedt, then we'd have Wallstedt. Everyone wants to trust Hakan with all these picks that he is in on, yet not trust passing on Wallstedt. You have to know that Hakan had his opinion on which Goalie to take. He obviously didn't push for Wallstedt or Yzerman would've drafted Wallstedt. I have a feeling both Yzerman and Hakan feel they drafted the right guy. 100% Hakan was asked if they should draft Wallstedt when they traded up.

Ugh, I feel bad for the guy. Addiction is hard and relapses are common. He seemed to be sincerely trying to beat alcoholism and I'm sure he felt about as low as humanly possible as he sobered up in a jail cell. I hope he's able to start again, learn from this, and be more successful next time.

From what little I've seen - Hughes is still built like a 16 yr old who's about to take his driving exam...Talented - indeed, but can he stay healthy for the duration of an arduous 82 game schedule?
That's what impressed me about Seider - not only his skillset, physical prowess, but his durability and consistency.

Big if true: I'm trying to find the tweet now to verify its authenticity but I'm told that Rogle's number one center is injured and on the shelf for the season. Could be a HUGE opportunity for both Neiderbach and Kasper.

They had this guy from minute one. This is the reason Ranges signed Trocheck. According to TSN guys, Copp told NYR right away he was going to Detroit. PLUS, TSN felt that not only did we get the better term (5 yrs vs. 7 yrs) we also got the better player. This was a great kick off to what turned out to be a HUGE day for Detroit!

Puljujarvi sucks. F*ck that dork. Why waste assets on that cornball when a million other dudes, who produce the same and aren't giant p*ssies, are available every single year. Two step plan to sorting out our forward corps. There are other, better, ways to do it too (such as exploiting Minnesota's deathly cap situation) but this is probably the easiest to get done.
Step 1: Take on Sean Monahan's contract for a high draft pick or prospect (something like Monahan and a 2nd for one of Detroit's 4th round picks)
Step 2: Sign Valerie Nichushkin for 5 years for 5.5 million.
