  1. Is the right hockey move to trade Jonathan Toews?

You must not understand the point of puck possession then. It only matters so much if you have decent goaltending and you can limit opposing team's scoring chances, both in which the Blackhawks are terrible at. They don't have any issues controlling the puck otherwise. As far as your hatred of analytics goes, They won 3 titles in 6 years leading the league in Corsi. The Penguins repeated as the leader in Corsi. The worst corsi team of the past 5 years has been Arizona and Buffalo. Interesting.
  2. Is the right hockey move to trade Jonathan Toews?

Has a lot to do with their D-core, no goaltending. Not Toews.
  3. I am LOLing at people who think this is an atrocious deal for Vegas. They did the right thing by buying and going hard for the cup. There's a decent chance that they won't be nearly this good for the next 3 years. Why not just go for it all now?
  4. Great haul for sure. Tatar is a really good player despite having a couple of down seasons in a row (mostly due to coaching and bad chemistry due to constant line changes). It's hard to look at his puck possession metric from 2013-15 and not be impressed. I really think he's better than Rick Nash, whom the Bruins grossly overvalued. Still, this is a deal that you make ten times out of ten.

Man.. this is the funniest s*** I've ever read: What an absolute imbecile. Raise your hand if you hated Pavel Datsyuk in 2002. Or in 2003. Or in 2004. RAISE YOUR HAND IF YOU THOUGHT PAVEL DATSUYK WAS A TERRIBLE PLAYER AT ANY POINT OF HIS CAREER.
  6. Is the right hockey move to trade Jonathan Toews?

Btw, Toews has actually had a good year. He was overrated last year and in 2016. But not anymore. Hawks have really solid possession metrics with him on the ice vs off.
  7. If Draper is the next GM, I don't think I mind it

Morey then. The Rockets are far closer to a title than the Celtics are.
  8. Is the right hockey move to trade Jonathan Toews?

It wasby far the most boring stretch of hockey if you weren't a Wings fan. 4 years of dead puck, a lockout, the dreadful Eastern conference, etc. The Hawks 2009-15 run was the most entertaining period of hockey in the modern era
  9. If Draper is the next GM, I don't think I mind it

The NHL also has a nepotism problem, on top of that.
  10. Is the right hockey move to trade Jonathan Toews?

I hope they win. The league isn't as fun when the Hawks are bad. They're nowhere near the suckage of the Red Wings for years to come. Hawks are a 2 year re-tool away from being back in the mix. Red Wings, about 5 years after Holland leaves.
  11. If Draper is the next GM, I don't think I mind it

Best GM in the league is most certainly not Ainge, but Bob Myers. the Warriors are ones with the dynasty, not Boston. Although Ainge hires analytical guys around him anyway. How's Michael Jordan doing as GM? Doc Rivers? Vlade? Not so well. Jesus, dude. That was so corny. I bet you're still seething over that comment. Haha
  12. If Draper is the next GM, I don't think I mind it

MLB- every (successful) front office is hiring analytical, computer geeks NBA- same as MLB NFL- the greatest football mind of all time is the GM of the Patriots, everyone else is so much below them (even though they did lose the SB because of a funky playcall) NHL- former players, former players, former players
  13. If Draper is the next GM, I don't think I mind it

I just don't understand why NHL teams hire former players as GM's.
  14. Mrazek traded to Philly for Conditional 3rd and 4th Picks

You are legitimately an ass, though.
  15. My vote goes to, of course, the 2x defending champs
  16. Made the thread twice by accident. Someone delete pls
  17. 2/6 GDT Bruins at Red Wings 7:30 PM EST

No shame losing to the B's. The bruins are the best team in the NHL when healthy. Better than Tampa.
  18. Standings, the good the bad and the ugly

The Wings are better than last year, not by much, but they're right where they belong.

If he's returning to the NHL it'll only be for a contender like Washington.
  20. 10/13 - Red Wings at Golden Knights - 10:30 PM EST

Red Wings with a fluky start to begin the year again. Should be fun when they don't get a top draft choice
  21. Tatar, Athanasiou, and XO's new deals

I'm guessing Euro_Twins thinks 2008 Nick Lidstrom is worth more than 2008 Pavel Datsyuk too. them forwardz are so a dime a dozen, my defensemenz are the keepers! Even though, of course, Pavel Datsyuk at his peak was worth more to the team than a Nick Lidstrom past his prime.
  22. Tatar, Athanasiou, and XO's new deals

Andrei Burakovsy had 44.84 points / 82 games this year. Andrei Burakovsy is actually extremely good and should be getting more money than TJ Oshie. The points don't show it. Vincent Trochek- 54 points in 82 games. His on-ice impact was massive relative to the rest of the team. Again, IMO, a better player than TJ Oshie. The elementary stats don't show it, of course. I'm not saying Tatar is a superstar elite player, but he's the best player on this team. He should be getting the most money. He's better than Mantha.
  23. Tatar, Athanasiou, and XO's new deals

Tomas Tatar- career +13.9% 5v5 corsi RELATIVE TO THE TEAM. 13.9%!!!!! Pavel Datsyuk's career high was 16.6. NYQUIST is 2.4%!!! When he's on the ice, the Red Wings are far better than when he's off the ice. It doesn't matter when Dekeyser's value to the team is far lower than that of Tatar's, regardless of position. I would not pay Carey Price more than Nicklas Backstrom. Keep using the 45 points argument. Use +/- too while you're at it.
  24. Tatar, Athanasiou, and XO's new deals

I love these people ITT who think they can use unadjusted points to determine a player's value. Tomas Tatar is a far better puck possession player than Nyquist. There is no way he should be getting 1m less than DEKEYSER. I hope Tatar leaves and lights it up for another team to shove it in Ken Holland's face.
