I agree with him, but he shouldn't say it. RR should take some lessons from Carr on how to make people fall asleep during pressers

    2010-11 NBA Season Thread

This team is so dreadful to watch. I can't even explain it. Somewhere a huge mess was made. I haven't watched the NBA in a couple years (Gowings nailed it), but still support/follow the Stones. I still think Joe D is better then most at his job, but wow this mess is going to take a while to clean up. I swear we have 15 guards, and 10 small forwards on the team. Rip/Prince gotta go. I don't care if its a horrible deal for us. True rebuilding isn't going to happen without them gone. Only good thing about Prince is his expiring contract. Monroe seems like years away, Daye doesn't impress me, McGrady isn't going to solve anything, Charlie V is horrible on defense, and even Stuckey I have questions about. I hope they tank, and get a top 5 pick. I would be willing to trade any player on this team besides Ben Gordon, and Jerebko.

Jim and Brandon are close friends. Brandon also made Michigan harder to get into starting last year for athletes. I've read speculation from people who have a good idea Jim would come here in a second. I can't see a better situation for Jim's ego (because he does have one). He can come to his alma mater, and join his idol Bo as the two guys who restored Michigan football in different eras. As for Tenuta comment listed above...I will pass. GoWings hit it on the head.

Yes ST is much worse! Everywhere! I don't want Michigan to lose another game this season. I think if people want them to lose out they are not real fans (I know some these people). Rich Rod for now is still the coach, and needs full backing from everyone. You can question his abilities, and future (I sure have), but you still gotta be on his side as long as he's here. At the end of the day the players are still working their tails off doing their best. I hope he can stick around. His offense is very young, and a treat to watch. It's only going to improve. I also like his fire, but if goes 1-3/0-4 he's gotta go no questions asked. I would like it if they show some life and salvaged this season, and during the offseason is forced to gut out his WHOLE defensive staff, and give up his defensive philosophy (if he actually has one). If the wheels do fall off completely it's time to bring back Jim. He will come assuming Jerry Jones doesn't get his hands on him first.

I agree with some of it, and disagree with some it. If you're talking about just Robinson you are correct. MSU did shut down the big plays, and they are a very good defense. U-M still put up the 2nd most yards of anyone that MSU has faced (ND is first). I just don't think 2 of Robinson's INT's were due to good MSU defense. Again, not taking anything away from them just my opinion. You saw them..they were Joey Harrington type throws - just straight up presents. The 3rd INT I agree MSU forced him to do something he didn't want to do, and it resulted in another bad turnover. Iowa gave up 577 yards, and Robinson was hurt. Who does that against Iowa?

Agree about Purdue. Don't agree about MSU and Iowa's defense. I'm not taking anything away from them, because are both very good defenses, but Michigan has left over 35 points on the field the last two weeks from bone headed mistakes. Most were so boneheaded I don't give any credit to the opposing defenses because they were literally early Christmas presents. Did they contain the offense better? Absolutely. Did they show a formula on how to shut it down? No. I like Rich Rod. I hope he can figure out everything, and stick around a long time. With that said if he doesn't fix that defense he can take a hike. Yes the defense is very young, and lacks lots of depth but that excuse has run out with me. It's one of the worst defenses in the country (last time I checked it was the worst). That is unacceptable at Michigan. He needs to do an overhaul on defense, and I'm not just talking about the defensive coordinator. If RR just let him go I would be furious, because he's just using him as a scapegoat. The last DC, Schafer RR let go is doing a fine job a Syracuse now, and was a fine one his previous stops at Stanford/WMU before coming to U-M. If RR wants to see that improve he needs to show the door to his hillbilly defensive coaches he brought here from WVU. They are cancer to this team. They ran Schafer out of town, and how stupid do you think we are? Has Greg Robinson, who has super bowl/national championship rings ever ran a stupid 3-3-5 in his very long coaching career? No, not once. Greg Robinson may get to drive the car at Michigan, but he doesn't own it, and thats a joke. It's the whole problem because his buddies who are position coaches are using their philosophy.

Their offense is much more experienced everywhere. Their OL is on the verge of being elite. So out scoring teams is much more possible. To their credit they haven't thrown in the towel in games when they face adversity as of now (they did last season). Besides that the defense is actually worse. So in short not much difference. I don't expect to outscore Big 10 teams in the late fall. I think they will be favored against Purdue, and thats it. If PSU was at home that game may be different...

I'm at the crossroads with this team. I'm not wishing failure, but got a lot of questions about them. In my opinion the offense has left around 40 points on the field the last 2 weeks. Thats the players fault not coaching. On the other side this defense sucks. The youth excuse can only go so far, and has run out with me. It can be better then this, but the players are being set up for failure. Thats coaching not the players. If you told me they are going to lose out I won't disagree. If you said they will finish 4-1 I can't argue that either I guess, but would be shocked. I just don't know anymore about anything...

Insults? -If State's QB had numbers like that would you not be saying the same things? I don't think it matters who they were playing because those numbers are just flat out disgusting. 502 yards in a game? C'mon man!!!! (Chris Carter voice). Was Heisman talk and/or better then Pryor talk stretching it? Yes, but with those numbers it has to brought up. Tebow, Pryor, Vince Young, Pat White, etc never put those numbers up against anyone even if it was some 1-AA school. -Yes he can be stopped. He is human after all, and on top of that he's only started 6 games. If there was depth last year he would only be a red shirt freshmen right now. He's still learning on the job. MSU to their credit threw a lot of new stuff at him, plus was the best D he has faced. He will learn. If you're going to rip on him just because he's Michigan's QB then I'm done with this. The kid has shown the most improvement of any player I have ever seen at Michigan during one off season in my life time. Compare him to last year, and he's miles ahead of where he was. Last year I would scream when they would let him throw the ball. He couldn't throw, he couldn't make reads running or passing. The progress is incredible. If Tate had that work ethic wow that would be scary. Speaking of Tate, I agree he won't be back next year. He's barely 2nd string right now.

Congrads to State. Outplayed us for sure. Denard's 2 picks were the game, and if he didn't throw them still probably would have lost. The comment about Denard being a "good" athlete, and nothing more ummm gotta strongly disagree there, but I just got home from AA and I'm tired. It was a great time minus the end result. Schedule keeps getting tougher now too...

I think state has the edge because they are more balanced on each side of the ball. If state establishes the run we are finished. Cousins is going to rack up his yards no mater what. Can't let Baker/Bell do the same thing. The M defense is a joke, but they are capable of shutting down the run if Ezeh/Mouton show up. I'm expecting a shootout. This is the best defense we have faced, but I think we can still run up points on MSU IF we have the chance. Wisconsin still averaged 5.2 ypc despite being "shutdown". They also haven't faced a mobile QB, and I think with MSU loading the box Robinson/WR's can burn MSU's safeties, their main weakness in my opinion. I'll go 41-35 MSU. I'm leaving at 8:00 tomorrow morning for the game. I'm expecting a record breaking day with 114,00 fans.

OSU's OL is struggling? Really? I guess I haven't noticed because I just thought the RB's were average. How is that baby Boren doing? (I know, I know I saw Kuiper's draft board just messing). OSU and U-M's RB situation is identical if you ask me. The RB's aren't bad by any means, but they are not game changers either. Herron, Saine, Shaw, and Smith would be a good No. 2 option, but not a No. 1. They are no Beanie or Hart. You think Pryor's injury is a quick fix, or going to be lingering? I could see it going either way with that type of injury...

I agree with all this. They need to lose against someone I don't care who it is. I would take a 2 lose OSU team over Boise. Saturday comes the big first test for Michigan. Does 84-80 sound like a good prediction, or am I too low?!

OSU is going to get the wrath of English class!!!!!! I'm sure the points will be double from 2006, the last time OSU went to English class. For fans: Everyone has idiots. Heck even CMU does now just because they beat MSU last year. I didn't even know they had fans! I heard Penn State's are horrible, but never really had a chance to meet any. In 2005 I was at the Big House, and Manningham scored with no time left. I think all those fans committed suicide so they don't count.

Very, very valid points. Not going to lie I've bashed the ND schedule in the past, but I agree with you here. Usually when I think of ND's schedule I think of U-M, MSU, USC, and then some military schools, but as listed above quite far from the case. I still wish they would join the B10 for selfish reasons. If you wanna see the weakest schedule ever for this season look no further then MSU. They even miss out on OSU. To defend schools such as U-M/MSU I will say though that it is a b**** to schedule nowadays. If you want a big fish you gotta do a home/home (assuming it works out), and in most cases you can't do that due to the budget especially with ND already on the schedule. I know UMASS was a desperation schedule jam. IIRC there were only 4 D1 schools that could make it work, and they were small schools that wanted a home/home series (One was Hawaii). I was surprised MSU could work out Alabama, and ND in the same season, but they must of figured out a way. Speaking of MSU thoughts/prayers to Coach Dantonio. I've been a hater, but when I heard about that it really puts things in perspective. Hope he recovers fast!

Wow I would have never expected that from Dantonio. Gutsy call, great game! I'm petrified of what balanced teams like Wisc, Iowa, MSU, and OSU can do to M's defense. Actually I'm scared of every offense the rest of the season now. The defense is a total joke. The kicking is worse. I'm really torn on this 3-3-5 stuff. I can see it working, and understand the talent on that side of the ball is below average, but I just don't know... I really think if UMASS would have taken a knee before half they would have won. How pathetic...

Haha wouldn't want any other type of welcome from you! Thanks for the responses. All the bumps in life have been cleared for now so I'm excited! As for ND I won't bring up a lot. All I'll say is this: ND has the right coach now. BK is going to win big there in time. He had his arms tied behind his back with the QB situation. Reminded me of the Threet/Sheridan days For M: Obviously thrilled with Shoelace, but it's a long season. Tate the "Great" seemed to have the same start last season. I'm not forgetting that. The defense will also have some serious issues all season due to youth/depth.
