When Kotkaniemi gets selected by Montreal and he's coming down the stairs from his seats, there's a woman in a white dress sitting on the stairs. You can see her cooch.

Here's the video link. Freeze at the 1:07 mark for the hoohaa shot.

I examined this video like Kevin Costner examined the Zapruter film in JFK.

Zadina is a cocky kid. I love it.

Spoiler Alert: O'Reilly has a Detroit connection.

Regula's Dad used to be team dentist.

McIsaac is a teammate of Zadina in Halifax.

    Veleno is boring.

Had no contact with Wings before being drafted.

    Totally stoked for these kids!!!

  3. So next year we could see at F:

    Bert-Larkin-Mantha (BLM line)

Z-Z-Nyquist (Nyquist will help you get your ZZZZZs line)

    Ras-Nielsen-Vanek (2 goats and a kid line)

    Abby-Helm-Svech (HAS line)

    Glendening/Wit

(I think AA and Frk are goners)

    3 years from now:

    Bert-Larkin-Zadina

    Svech-Rass-Mantha

    Pope-Veleno-Smith

    Holmstrom-Turgeon-Abby

    Berggren

    Detroit Red Wings: A+

They should be absolutely enthralled with what transpired this weekend. Even if you look just at the first round, they landed maybe the draft's second-best goal-scorer at No. 6 in Filip Zadina, then got another steal with center Joseph Veleno at No. 30.

    6. Detroit Red Wings — Filip Zadina, LW, Halifax (QMJHL)

The Red Wings really needed a puck mover who can run their power play, but Filip Zadina is an elite forward they simply couldnt pass up. This kid fills the net and competes hard in all three zones. A real leader and sets a great example.

    Grade: A

    30. Detroit Red Wings (via Golden Knights) — Joe Veleno, C, Drummondville (QMJHL)

About time a team woke up and took the draft's fastest center, except Veleno is a premier playmaker who busts it from start to finish. Mark my words -- he will be one of the better NHL players to come out of this draft.

    Grade: A

Detroit Red Wings: Filip Zadina, LW, Halifax, Grade: A

Zadina has a terrific shot, and his ability to go to the front of the net is notable. He' also solid on both ends of the ice. Center Joseph Veleno, right wing Jonatan Berggren and defenseman Jared McIsaac all look like potential big-time contributors.

So apparently all of these guys are clueless too.

    Winner: Red Wings

Filip Zadina might be the surest scorer in this draft, and somehow -- miraculously -- he fell in the Red Wings' lap at No. 6 overall. This is a winger who can play as soon as this season, even in a top-six role.

The Red Wings then capitalized on another draft faller, when center Joseph Veleno was available at No. 30. Detroit's biggest need was defense, and they addressed that with three defensemen during the next two rounds.

Detroit is embarking on a total makeover, and this draft couldn't have gone any better for GM Ken Holland -- who has been on a roll since the trade deadline after bringing in a haul for Tomas Tatar. Apparently, reports of Holland's demise have been greatly exaggerated. The Red Wings being good again is fun for everyone!

  6. Seriously though Lefty, and I say this with deep respect, you don't need this in your life right now. Maybe take a step back from the computer and collect yourself. This forum isn't going anywhere. Normalcy can be therapeutic, but this can't be healthy. This is my first draft in here, so maybe this happens every year. But I have to be honest, I am concerned for your well being. I wish you peace and I truly hope things get better for you.

Oh yeah, take it from me, Lexapro works wonders!

    Great. Now the kids ruined.

They won the draft. New GM obviously knows what he's doing. Unlike Holland.

So let me get this right. Wahlstrom and Dobson and Wilde fall into Lou's lap, he drafts them, and he's a genius. Zadina and Veleno fall into Holland's lap. he drafts them, and it's a "no brainer".

I totally missed that. When is the rebroadcast? Need to see Bouchard's MILF again too.

You say this like Holland planned and knew they would fall. He's not that smart. He was taking D all the way and up until Zadina was there, he was still taking Hughes. He had zero clue on what he was doing come #30, Valeno fell into his lap. You see how he screwed up once he had choices to make. Keep giving him credit when he deserves none.

But that's the problem. Holland passes on Zadina or Veleno or Noel or Wilde and he's an idiot. He drafts them, and it was a "no brainer" , they fell into his lap. No matter what the man does, some of you will never give him credit and find a way to criticize him for everything because the confirmation bias is out of control.

Who the f*** is Berggggggren? Pass on Noel?

He was ranked 32nd on Button's list. Holland drafted him at #33. What's the problem? He also drafted McIsaac at #36. He was ranked 26th on Button's list. It's not like Holland went off the board here, or even reached at all. It was a good draft thru the first 4 picks. Why can't we just be excited that we just drafted 4 players that probably would have all been first rounders in other draft years?

  10. One could look at Zadina falling into Holland's lap and say it was a no brainer pick. But at the same time, I give Holland a lot of credit for it. Think about it, Zadina was arguably the 3rd best player in the draft. It would have been tempting for Holland to trade up to 3rd (giving up assets in the process) to draft him not knowing what MTL, AZ, or OTT were going to do. Instead, he stood pat and patiently waited to see how things would go. That is the mark of veteran GM who is cool under pressure. A less experienced GM might have panicked and traded up. Same with Veleno. He was ranked 14th. Once he fell into the 20's, it would have been easy to get anxious and trade up to get him (I probably would have). Again, Holland was confident in running the team's draft and he waited. Zadina and Veleno "fell into his lap" because Holland was calm, cool, and collected, and didn't overreact like some other GM's might have done. What some of you see as "no brainers" I see as reaping the benefits of good management and drafting.

Surprised they had one ready to go

Some kids in Cameroon will be getting the #18 Wings jerseys with Dahlin, Svechnikov, Tkachuk, Kotkaniemi, Bouchard, Hughes, Dobson, and Wahlstrom's names on them.
