Show me that Noel or Wilde will definitively be better picks than Berggren/McIsaac.

Noel and Wilde are bigger and taller than Berggren and McIssac. Definitive proof that they will become better hockey players. Everyone knows this.

    That is a funny edit!

I want to thank everyone for all the kind words! I am good, I am moving forward, I don't want to talk about it and I NEED this forum to keep my mind going forward! Thanks Again!

Here is (are) my (fantasy) trade scenario(s) for draft day:

    image.png.de42fc4d22e2b2af01ec088f3617730a.png

Both Nyquist and AA address the offense and dynamics that Vancouver is in need of. Could very well become 1st line players there.

    image.png.f8efed71b25069a6aaad2b6ce49a5b54.png

Calgary is in DESPERATE need of another line. They have become a 1 line team, adding Helm and Svech gives them 2/3 making a very good line! To sweetin the deal the 2019 1s round is NOT lottery protected, so they get it no matter where we finish.  But we get a #1 in Hamilton, so we're good.

    image.png.bc95f20dc7177a978d3c927526950496.png

Here I take Chicago up on their desperation to get rid of Hossa's contract. I'd give them a couple of mid to later round picks to take his contract and their #8 overall.  Worst case scenario, Hossa rides out his contract on LTIR much like Franzen. Best case scenario, he becomes healthy and gets us 15-20 goals a year for a couple of seasons. This eliminates the need to sign either one of Vanek or Kovy. Win-Wn for us and Chicago. (not that I am really into helping Chicago, but I'd piss down their back and call it rain to steal that #8 pick to get Oliver Wahlstrom.)

    image.png.4740d04303cc58d1fb6c2c4142abb4f6.png

Here is the good one. Sure, at first site, it doesn't look like a great deal for Montreal, but considering they are getting the #6 in return, two good old French Canadian kids to add to the team, PLUS they still should be able to draft the center they need in Kotkaniemi with that #6.

So that gives us #3, #7, #8 in the 1st round. With those picks I take

    #3 - Zadina

    #7 - Best D Available

    #8 - Wahlstrom

With Larkin as our #1 center, Z will slowly transition out as the #2 over the next couple of season's giving way to Ras. Nielsen will remain #3 for the rest of his contract unless he allows us to flip him to a contender on a future TDL day.

I think, even with eliminating the 2019 1st round pick, that sets our rebuild on fire.

(BTW, SO glad I was absent during all that political stuff in the other thread! I might be the only one left here when the MODS return!)

Thanks again everyone for the kind words! I needed a break from life, but I need to move forward now and I had to get back on here to help keep my life moving on! Bring on Friday! Too bad I'll be working a 16 hour shift that day and will have to rely on my phone for updates! Here's to Holland ripping those tires right off the truck this year!

I do not have anything negative to say about any of this.

I would. because then I could start showing them ALT+PRINT SCREENs of this thread and be like "WTF dudes!!? Where were you when Robot and others dragged that SCF thread into the weeds???" Then they'd be all like "OMFG you're right!!!" Then they'd make me a mod, and then I'd ban you for the half-dozeneth time

Oh please. I've been banned way more than a half dozen times.

I wasn't saying you were the bad guy. Just that the exhausted overall political and socially charged rhetoric from multiple members on the last couple of pages of this thread would have warranted warnings and probably suspensions in another LGWs lifetime. The mods have forsaken us!

"I'd rather see my country fail then acknowledge Trump is doing a good job."

More reasons why I feel abandoned by the American left. Heaven forbid I want my country to succeed.

Bill Maher never said this. He has actually been very optimistic about talks between Trump and Kim. He has said that he hopes for a recession if it means we could get rid of Trump, which I dont agree with.

    • No, that's absolutely and demonstrably false, and i actually think it's quite racist of you to assume only black people care about race relations and racial equality enough to kneel during an anthem. Caucasian players did in fact kneel too. Trump also referenced them by their stance (kneeling), not by race. The only one bringing race into this is you. Fine, I'll play your stupid ass little game. Let's pretend for a second that Donald Trump didn't call black NFL players sons of *******. Instead, he said that any player that kneels in peaceful protest against the injustice of police officers shooting unarmed black men, a noble cause to champion, is a son of a ***** and deserves to be fired from their job. That is equally deplorable.
    • when this was written segregation was also in full effect in this country. I'll assume you also want to return to this form of social divide, or are you just cherry picking the pieces of our past your fond of? Yes, I am absolutely cherry picking things from our nation's history that are good while simultaneously condemning the things that were bad. It's called progress. I know that conservatives are allergic to it, but I promise you that it's not as scary as it sounds.
    •  did you just assume American = white? Curious. This country is full of people of many different backgrounds. Some turn out to be murders and rapists, which is quite unfortunate. I don't think you'll disagree that we should stop more murders and rapists from entering the country, whether they're of Mexican decent or not. No, I pointed out the fact that Trumps base is overwhelmingly white, and that if he had painted white people as rapists, drug dealers and murderers the way he did mexicans, he wouldnt have won a single primary.
    • and I'd agree with you. I couldn't possibly fathom the true responsibility of being an American president. Trump and Obama are better men than me. Trump is not a better man than you.
    • Please explain how Bill Clinton's actions with women are justifiable, but Trump's are not. We aren't talking about Bill Clinton's actions right now. If thats something you'd like to discuss in the future, I'm all for it. But right now, we're talking about Trump. And whatever errors his predecessors might have made in the past dont excuse Trumps wrongdoings. See, you know that Trumps behavior is indefensible, so you're trying to muddy the waters so that you dont have to admit it. Intellectually shady, bro.
    • Nope. There's many instances of Trump using the exact same gesture to attack other political opponents, Democratic and Republican. I recommend watching his speeches prior to this particular occurrence. So Trump has consistently mocked people by acting like they are mentally retarded. And that's better.... how?
    • Because the commander in chief is not subject to military code. This is American military 101. I recommend spending more time with someone who's served. What a great role model.
    • Probably lol and I would have laughed with you, but facts are facts the work orders are there and well documented. Sorry. So you're telling me that it made you proud as an American to hear your president talk about the White House that way. Cool.
    • Only an idiot and a sith deal in absolutes. The counter protesters, who were they organized by? Were they devoid of sin? Whataboutism again. You cant defend the agenda of the white supremacists, so you're trying to draw a false equivalency to the actions of those who oppose them. That's a pretty disgusting way to try to win an argument.
    • Actually it didn't lol but sure nice try. Just so you know, I'm not gonna engage blatant lying/ignorance. The left engaged in plenty of dick size shaming, if you'd like to address that I'll listen. "And you know what they say about guys with small hands," Marco said with a smile, prompting stunned laughter from the crowd. - Marco Rubio, 2.28.16 - "And he referred to my hands. 'If they're small, something else must be small.' I guarantee you there's no problem. I guarantee you." - Donald Trump, 3.3.16
    • Really? this was the quote you were referring too lmao, but yes, lock her up! I FULLY AGREE Imprisoning political opponents -  Putin likes this
    • Pushing boundaries on what? Securing the denuclearization of North Korea? Achieving 3% GDP growth? What specifically did he work too hard on for you? How much time do you have? Firing the director of the FBI in order to discourage investigation on himself, appointing family members to key administration positions, accepting bribes from corporations in order to influence policy decisions, pardoning political allies, suggesting that he might pardon himself, suggesting that he might make himself president for life. I mean we could be here all day and hes only been in office for a year and a half.
    • dude this right here, this is why i went from voting Obama to voting Trump. You're so disconnected and opposed to any POV that disagrees with you that you honestly believe Trump = Hitler.  Fantastic. Keep it up. I will enjoy the 2020 meltdown round 2. So this would be the bridge too far? Good, I'm glad that you have a shred of decency left. Hopefully it'll never come to pass.

And again, none of these solidify racism or a crime being committed. Still waiting for you to followup on that... Obstruction of justice. For starters.

Let's turn the table a bit... what laws have been enacted by Trump that have hurt minority Americans? None that i know of. On the other hand, who enacted the 1994 crime bill that disproportionately incarcerated African-Americans? That's right, Bill Clinton. Who refereed to African-Americans as super-predators? That's right, Hillary Clinton. Who's pictured here embracing Hillary Clinton: Whataboutism again. This is almost becoming a reflex for you.

    f38.jpg

Oh that's right, a grand dragon of the KKK. The picture on the left is real. The one on the right is fake. Yes. Robert Byrd was a former member of the KKK. He quit almost 70 years ago, condemned their message, apologized thousands of times for the remainder of his life, served almost 60 years as a respected Senator, helped pass many pieces of important legislation such as the reauthorization of the Voting Rights Act, Hate Crimes Prevention, Health Care Reform, and was honored by the NAACP after his death.

Republicans are not the American party with a documented history of racism. Yes. It's the party that champions Black Lives Matter and marriage equality and compassionate immigration policy who are the real racists. Republicans are the real victims here and reverse racism is a bigger problem than racism.

    • Calling black people sons of ******* - No he didn't, here's the actual quote: “Wouldn’t you love to see one of these NFL owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, to say, ‘Get that son of a ***** off the field right now. Out! He’s fired. He’s fired!’”  He was referring to the athletes that kneeled during the anthem. The athletes that kneeled were black. Black athletes are people too. Pretty simple.
    • Refugees from s***hole countries - believe it or not, but there are s***hole countries in this world, and no I do not feel an obligation to take on their refugees Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free...
    • Mexicans are rapists and murderers - True, some of them are. Just like some Americans are. I dont recall him singling out white rapists and murderers for prosecution. Probably lose a lot of votes that way...
    • ***** grabbing - I've said way worse things in the presence of male friends, guess I'm abhorrent too. Oh well. I dont think that you or your friends would be very good presidents either.
    • Cheating on his wife - Bill Clinton Whataboutism. The preferred way for Trumpsters to defend the indefensible.
    • Making fun of disabled people - The gesture your referring too, Trump does to everyone, he's not said a negative thing about the disabled other than when he speaks about Hillary Clearly just ignoring reality here. Are you Lefty's sock account?
    • Rosies a disgusting pig - she is, and that was one of the most hilarious things Ive ever seen on television In the military there is an offense known as 'Conduct unbecoming an officer and a Gentleman'. It is a crime punishable by court martial. Not sure why you think our military officers should be held to a higher standard than their commander in chief.
    • The white house is a real dump - work orders confirmed the white house had multiple mice, cockroach, and ant infestations throughout the grounds. As well numerous broken fixtures including doors, chairs, and toilet seats. Accurate assessment IMO. Give me a ******* break. Can you imagine if Obama had said that? Sean Hannity's head would have exploded.
    • White nationalists are very fine people - he didn't say this. Here's the exact quote: “I’ve condemned neo-Nazis. I’ve condemned many different groups. But not all of those people were neo-Nazis, believe me. You had many people in that group other than neo-Nazis and white nationalists. The press has treated them absolutely unfairly. You also had some very fine people on both sides" The march was organized by Jason Kessler, a white supremacist. Anyone who chose to attend that did not side with the counter protesters cannot be considered a 'very fine person'.
    • Bragging about his dick size - and the left tried mocking him for dick size... This taunt actually came from Marco Rubio, who Trump constantly referred to as Little Marco. Still, not surprised that a conservative would try to twist things around and try to blame liberals yet again.
    • Threaten to imprison his political opponents - got a quote? I don't know what you're referring to with this one. "Lock her up! Lock her up!"
    • Putting drug dealers to death - I agree with you on this one, drug dealers shouldn't be given the death penalty, and Trump won't ever be able to sentence a drug dealer to death anyhow. I chalk this to just more of his over-the-top speech Are you sure about that? Because if there's one thing that's clear from the first 500 days of his administration, it's that Trump intends on pushing boundaries until someone stops him. That hasn't happened yet.
    • Joking about making himself president for life - Keyword: joking Let me ask you this. When has Donald Trump ever told a joke? He has also said that he wants to serve 4 terms like FDR. You really cant see him trying to cancel the 2020 election? Maybe the reason that he keeps saying that he wants to be president for life, is because he wants to be president for life.

I understand some don't like how he speaks, but nothing on your list solidifies he's a racist or should be convicted of some unknown crime.

What do I find appealing about Trump? I find it appealing how upset he makes you. I like the drama and the spectacle. It's good tv. And as a sidenote, I like where my stocks and other assets are at, but mostly I like the first part.

Ok, we might as well go down the rabbit hole...

What "abhorrent behavior" specifically led you to conclude Donald Trump is a racist?

What crime do you believe Trump is guilty of, that Republicans are protecting him from conviction on?

All of it. All of his behavior is disgusting. It's like he goes out of his way to be as big a piece of s*** as possible and you people just eat it up. Calling black people sons of *******, refugees from s*** hole countries, Mexicans are rapists and murderers, ***** grabbing, cheating on his pregnant wife, making fun of disabled people, Rosie's a disgusting pig, the white house is a dump, white nationalists are very fine people, bragging about the size of his dick, threatening to imprison his political opponents, talking about putting drug dealers to death, joking about making himself president for life. I mean jesus, what is it about this ******* guy that you find appealing? His haircut? I dont think that he could be less presidential if he took a dump on the floor in the middle of the oval office. What exactly does he have to do to lose your support?

Trump was called a racist all throughout the election, he still won.

Trump was called a racist after the election, he's still not impeached.

If you think labeling Trump as a racist is an effective message, then we'll have to agree to disagree. I think it's having the opposite effect. Bigger names than DSP have publicly taken stances that he's a racist, and that did diddly. So I maintain, there's nothing to achieve here for DSP. If he doesn't care about how his actions will be used after the fact, and his own morality simply precludes him from going, then so be it, that's his prerogative.

There were many failures that led to Trumps victory over the Democrats. I dont think that calling him out for his abhorrent behaviour was one of them.

And the fact that Trump has yet to be impeached has less to do with public opinion and more with the fact that his party controls both houses of the Senate. Trump cannot and will not be convicted unless a dozen Republicans cross party lines. Not going to happen.

  11. 37 minutes ago, ChristopherReevesLegs said:

Again, youre not following my point. Im not saying it's not DSP's right... in fact Ive confirmed the exact opposite, that it is. Frankly I could care less which party he ascribes too.

My point is, again, this course of action doesnt hurt Trump, it aids him. If DSP wants to make a stand against Trump I don't think this is the way to do it.

You're assuming that DSP has a political agenda here in america. He is Canadian after all, and will probably move home after his career is over. It's entirely plausible that he just hates the dude and cant stand to be in the same room as him. But whatever, let's assume that he wants to raise awareness about the dangers facing the black community in america. What greater opportunity will he ever have to show the world that black people are fed up with this s***? And what message does it send to black kids that look up to DSP to see pictures of him shaking hands and playing nice with someone like Trump? I think you're undervaluing the importance of symbolic gestures like these.
