Short of him winning the Conn Smythe there is nothing he can do to redeem himself for the extraordinary amount of WTF moments he has had this post-season. He is the weakest D-man on the team, he is a PK-making machine, doesn't use his size, doesn't make good passes, and when he tried to be offensive he gives the puck away. Cut him loose and get what you can for him. He is a dime-a-dozen player.

1. Tatar will get a Gordie Howe Hat Trick this season. 2. Franzen will play 82 games this season. 3. We will make a huge splash at the trade deadline by aquiring a top line forward and a top line defenseman.

They'll sell thousands of those to New Yorkers who don't watch hockey.

Still think there should be 2 awards for best D-man. Offensive (The Orr Award) and Defensive (The Lidstrom Award).

This is a piece from the MLive article detailing the Wings salary cap for next season: I think it is safe to say that Gustavsson is not going to be re-signed. I think Cleary is a longshot as well, and unfortunately Cole probably will sit the entire season out of the NHL. Zidlicky is a good question. He great in the first games he played with the Wings, but slowed and became a non-factor against TB. I think he may get a good offer from the Wings, but looking at the upcoming UFAs he will probably sign with a more desperate team with more money to spend. Smith will likely get a good offer, although I think we could do better with other options. Nyq is almost an untouchable. Jurco, Andersson, and Ferraro could be used as trade bait, but would each demand something more than an aged vet and picks. Pulk is a future PP specialist and the possibility of him getting passed up is insane to me. The biggest question mark IMO is Weiss. He has a big contract and small numbers. Is there a team that would bite the bullet and take a chance on him via a trade (assuming he lets it happen)? I think it would have to be a contender who maybe wanted one more piece to make the playoffs or advance past their early exit (LA, BOS, NYI, SJ) and have assets to send to us (D-men and/or secondary skill scoring). Anyways, what is your opinion on what will/should happen (besides Babcock being the main story and priority signing).

Maybe TO can do the same... Actually, I'm not sold on Phaneuf. If it were has Calgary days, absolutely, but now... seems less effective in TO. Maybe it's the coaching or the 'C' but he isn't what he once was.

Don't care if the game against SJ isn't over yet. 3 goals on 9 shots. The first goal he went down too soon and that is no one's fault but his. Don't care who says "but they weren't his fault" because he gave up a point against PHX in OT and it has been a consistent trend since he got back from injury. His stats are horrible. His puck handling is horrible. He can't control rebounds. He can't stop breakaways. Why is he the #1? Because of loyalty and seniority. That's it. That's all it CAN be. Petr Mrazek is an NHL goalie. He has superior stats. He is a VAST upgrade in puck handling and speed. He is aggressive and plays pretty well positionally. And he has just as many Cups as Howard has as a starter. So what's the upside in keeping him out?

Even better reason to just let it fall in / let it stay in play. The point is, why lift your hand to grab it at all? It's not like he's at a Tigers game and is going to keep it. Why try to grab it at all? It is mindbendingly complex as to what must have gone through his head to make him reach out and grab it. Dumb. Just dumb. He should be sitting tonight even if it wasn't a throw away game.

Maybe just let the puck fall into the bench then and not let any of this BS happen in the first place? Maybe Brendan? Maybe?

I stand by my thread title. Both goalies are stinking up the place right now, but I still feel better when Mrazek is on the ice. I think if we were to go to the playoffs tomorrow against TB we would be bounced out in 6 or less, mostly because of the lack of consistent goaltending and defensive lapses.

SUVs and cars have 4WD/AWD. Pickups are horrible with 4WD because you have to add weight to the bed over the rear axles to make any difference with snow/mud.

The Kindle has killed the written word. Not everyone should be allowed to publish their crap online for others to read in mass. This is why we have things like 50 Shades of Gray. I will never be able to own a digital library of anything. I just can't trust computers/technology enough to spend thousands of dollars on movies/music that I can't hold in my hands. None of us need a pickup truck. They should be specialty vehicles like ambulances for professional contractors/movers. You don't need one. "But I might need to move something big." You can have it delivered by a pro. "But I want to save money and do it myself." Buy a smaller car. "But I like to be taller than everyone else on the road." You're an idiot and part of the problem. The NHL is a second rate league not because of ESPN, but because of the CBC. Keeping antiquated announcers and segments and loud-mouthed former players/coaches may be popular in Canada for hockey, but when it's done the same way in the U.S. it becomes annoying. We need more American LeBruns and McKenzies and less Canadian/American Eddie Os, JRs, and Milburys in order to be taken seriously in the U.S. When ESPN covers hockey for the obligatory 60 seconds who shows up? The same tired mullet with the funny accent and no charisma.
