Rasmussen has been a HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT this year.  He has made zero impact so far.

I'm not worried about him or anything. I think he's a very good player. But he's on track to match his rookie point totals while playing worse defensively. His underlying numbers are all worse too. I think it's just as fair to point those things out for Seider as it would be for any other player. The only difference is that he's much more important to the team's success than someone like Rasmussen (who also hasn't taken the step forward that I'd expected of him).

I'm gonna add coaching. Yes it's better than what was there in the Blashill Era, but in that 3rd period The Wings were on their heels, and not even just a little. When Montreal scored the 3rd goal, after as bad as Detroit was playing, there should've been a timeout called. Not to come up with a play, but to just calm them down, stare at them, and let them understand that they are going to give this game away if they don't calm down. The game was unraveling and low and behold, it wound up tied. They're damn lucky they didn't lose. Why hold on to the timeout? It makes no sense! Call the TO, reset and maybe the 4th goal doesn't happen.

That was absolutely brutal.  Such an easy fix to the mess, too = Instant Replay.  All that needed to happen was a replay of the series of the helmet coming off Petterson.  Then they could have called no goal and a delay of game 2 minute minor on the Rangers.  Problem solved.  Can't believe the league didn't get this right without having to go through an example that cost a team a game 7.  The Pens have a right to be upset here.

I would love to spend money on players like that.  And that's the kind of thing that would make me want to push Zadina down the line up and into oblivion eventually.  The kind of thing that makes me want to hang onto Zadina and spend more time on his development is when someone recommends that we keep our 32 million of caps space open and not sign any good players because we are going to need to resign 4 good players in the next 7 seasons.  Then I sit there and look at our prospect pool and check to see if any of them would be more suited to play top nine minutes than Zadina.  The answer is obviously no.  So we're right back to where we started.  Why are we whipping Zadina?  That makes no sense.  Whip the GM if he's not giving you the caliber of players the team needs.  Or whip the coach if you think he's not playing the players the right amount of time or in a role suited to fit his strengths.  But whipping a 22 year old guy who's doing his best to change his game 180 degrees than what he's accustomed to because he hasn't done it in 2 seasons is RIDICULOUS.  Especially when there's not a better alternative available.

Imagine calling Draisaitl a 2C.  50 goals, 135 pts.  But his peer is Pius Suter!

yah, it's tough.  We had that scenario with Yzerman/Fedorov and Zetterberg/Datsyuk, but it's more like 1C-A, 1C-B at that point.  Just because Malkin plays on the 2nd line doesn't mean he's a 2C.  I see what you're saying.

yah, gonna be fun to watch a defense with (2) huge all stars.  If we can get one more surprise out the pool of defensemen that turns into a gem, gonna be good times for Wings fans.

Want to know why our power play has SUCKED for the last 10 years?  Because we have 11 LEFT HANDED FORWARDS.  That's why.  A good team NEVER has all left handed players.  It's ok if your centers are left handed, but that means one of your wingers has to be right handed.  When 2 guys get in a 2 on one break, you want to have your left handed guy down the right side and your right handed guy down the left side.  That way, they can snap a shot or face the other player and pass to a player that's facing them.  When they're both left handed, it's awkward and makes it easier on the defender to get in the way and break up the play.  I can't understand for the life of me how the Red Wings and some of the fans don't understand why handedness matters.  It seems like they've woken up to its importance on defense, but can't figure out that the offense needs to have it too.  You would think that the addition of Lucas Raymond this year would be a 100% EYE OPENER, but I guess not.

They are similar in a lot of ways. Steady, smart, mobile, big.
Seider has much more offensive talent IMO and he lacks the nordic politeness on the ice.
Eddog has the bigger frame, but that's about it.

I would do a Zoom call for the entire game on Saturday if people showed up and it was a party and chips and drinks were served. I'd just watch the game in my bedroom away from my family so my parents don't hear all the baiting and Dekeyser whipping.
But I'm not doing it if it's just you and Duke.
Update us on Friday night how many emails you have. I'll send you mine on discord.

I was skeptical for a while because the offensive output was not showing up in the scoresheet.  And to be honest, I didn't watch a lot last year because of my streambox taking a dump.  But I have ESPN+ now and can watch all the games again.  This guy would be picking up lots of points if paired with Mo Seider.  So I think the only way to grade him is how well he plays defensively and keeps the opponent from getting cycle time in our end.  And he's done A+ work the last 10 games, despite having to carry his pairing a bit more than normal (no offense to Stahl - he's just old).  If they pair Lindstrom with Edvinsson, he'll start being able to contribute more offensively.

Having a vaccination doesn't mean you can't get COVID, it means your body us equipped to fight the infection.  You can still spread the virus and that's the point of concern.
Many of these players have kids who are unvaxinated add to that; we still have a lot of morons who can't or won't understand the 1st point and use it as an excuse to dismiss vaccination all together.  So we all have to mask, have circuit breakers, lockdowns, etc to protect children and people who act like children from COVID.

Going on record now saying that this guy is a lot better than all of us think.  Seems like Stahl has found a nice groove with him.  Would like to see Edvinsson paired with him next year.  I think they'd compliment each other well.
