I say leave him on the top line at least for now. Its his last year, and the year after this I see us icing a top line of datsyuk zetterberg and Franzen.

This could turn out well and wont hurt anything. I think the guy wanted to play for the red wings more than dallas anyway, and being able to play with some of the top swedes in the game my jump start his career as it did samuellson's.

Third line players generally don't do a lot of scoring on most teams. They might chip in a decent amout of points here and there, but their primary responsibility should be on defense and basically being a plug while the scoring lines take a rest. There are a lot of players that could put up similar points to other third liners in the NHL but don't make it because they don't provide the aforementioned grit or other intangibles.

Maybe go to redwingscentral.com and read about the prospects. Theres a good section on each for strengths and weaknesses, it might give you a good idda what to look for.

I'm not sure about this one. A large part of me thinks Laviolette is a moron and he makes a lot of bad choices regarding his players. Think of it this way, he got rid of two of his best players and leaders one year removed from making the finals and all because of some stupid social drama. A good coach would simply fix the problems because you dont get franchise players avery day. Read the comments on the article's page, Laviolette gets a lot of hate there.

Whatever. Whether they liked to drink or not, they were still the best players on the team. I wouldn't want a coach telling me how to live my life either. I bet in time they willl be glad they got traded away. LA will be better than philly next year anyway. -

Why would the caps want to trade a soft player (semin) for another soft player (hudler) who is a lot worse? I dont think they would be too interested inpicks or prospects either because they are trying to compete for a championship now, like us. I think semin would give us the sniper we need, but we would have to give up a good roster player to get him, ane there isnt one i would want to give up to do so.

Its always cool when something like this happens. Not hockey related, but i remember hearing a story about Jon Jones stopping a purse snatcher right before winning the UFC light heavyweight title.

I personally don't mind what he said. At the vvery bottom he says he would've regretted it if he hadn't tried and this is his final charge at another cup. It didn't work out like he planned, which sucks, but I get the impression he just wants to give it his all one last time. I think he should be in the lineup early in the series just to see if he can bring it, and if he can't, THEN you bench him.

Not to mention Greg Johnson had to retire of a heart condition right after we signed him a couple of years ago. i remember kozlov got his career a little sidetracked by a serious bus accident before he came over here to play years ago.

I don't know if I would call Franzen lazy or someone who doesn't give a s*** so much as I would just call him a streaky scorer. I was kinda the same way when I played. More of a mental thing, really. When the goals are coming, you're just in the zone and they come easy without thinking about it. When you aren't well, it's just frustrating because you feel useless and a step behind the play. Hard to describe how that switch in your head turns on and off...

I ditched my cage... for a while. Then some moron turned and blindly fired a puck right at my face from his own corner and I wound up with 9 stitches in my cheekbone and a permanent strange tingling feeling in my right temple whenever I touch it. Point is, even if you do things right when you aren't wearing a visor, you can count on some other idiot screwing things up for you. -

I remember the days when Lilja was the whipping boy on this site... nice to see him get some love. I liked him on the PK and as a defensive zone guy, but his best days were when he was beating ass and became known as the Pain Train lol. -
